i dont know about everyone else but i think trading shouldnt be the only primary sorce of money income. there should be missions in the pub hat run from6-10 million..

Im pretty sure once 1.8 is out there will be some more opportunitys for new people to make money other than trading. Either by reducing the general trade income or increasing the general mission/pod/quest income or even both^^. I am vouching for 1-3m missions as other server got it. 6-10m rather sounds like a bigger quest like looting the blackboxes or datadisc right now and would probably be too much reward in a simple scripted standart mission fending off some enemys.
However.. lets be patient and see what 1.8 is bringing usIm sure OP is allready considering something in this direction.
(On a sidenote.. reducing the general trade income would best be made by reducing the trains cargo hold and/or linking it with mounted cargopods. For example 2000 base cargo and +500 cargo per pod resulting in the current fix 5000 total cargo or even less.) -
The Death Valley sidequest can get you 9 million credits, the Rhineland Scout sidequest in DomKavash space can get you 27 million credits, and in the borderworlds and CF-added systems there are many missions that pay 300-500k up-front, and up to a million or two more if the person sells the escape pods later. Avoiding the missions altogether and simply killing NPC's in such systems to sell their escape pods at prisons can be lucrative.
Also, people often place bounties on other players for a minimum of 1 million credits. Any person with a mercenary license mounted who kills such a person gets the bounty money. The largest bounty I ever saw was somewhere around 200 million.
What I mean to say is that there are already many means in place for getting credits relatively quickly. Trade with big freighters though is more effective because the ships are both more expensive and have greater capabilities than fighters. Perhaps changes will be considered - I'm certainly open to all possibilities - but at the moment it would seem that money is not at all difficult to accumulate.
Edit: Straw is very much correct in the regard of the new mod. Personally though, I think it would be better if rather than decreasing train cargo space the economy were completely random. That way the super-routes are not only more difficult to track down, but traders also don't have the luxury of camping in one place until the day the route they want is back. On the other hand... it is rather strange that I support a change that would make my clansystem irrelevent in RP.

you decided for a system and i wont do switches in future
the idea with the cargo limitations is difficult to solve... but 32seconds ago i had an idea how cargo extensions could work (im not really sure but its worth a try)

I never suggested I'd be moving. I am happy with Sea of Shadows whether or not it has a trade route going through it. Just trying to think about the greater good.

Sorry to sound like a complete newbie - can you pm me a clue about the Rheinland Scout sidequest?
Recently I followed the clues from Planet Crossfire to explore nomad space and I found death valley and the wreck in DV. (I knew where DV was as recently a fellow LP had given me directions - but this time I followed the clues to get there)
I know of the wreck in Nephele but not sure how it connects to a storyline - etc
Any hints tips for a newbie explorer is welcomed.

You can start the quest by looting the Rhineland capital ship wrecks in the systems between Styx and Sovetskaya. Then, by reading the datadisk infos and by landing on Coalition stations and learning what pieces of the code mean, you can find the coordinates to a mysterious jump hole with a buoy next to it. Before jumping look at the buoy's infocard. That's how you start that quest.

well, op did mention more changes than that, if i remember it correctly. given it has so many suns, maybe he'll make one explode, making that system a complete mess.or something similar. not that i am giving any bad ideas...
btw, op, will that cargo thing u thought of work then?
-
in theory it does... it also should work in game as a concept
but i have my doubts that i can include it into CF since i need more hardpoint classes (at least one more) in order to include this
maybe i can manipulate some settings and use an already existing hp-class.. but im not sure -
if u need any help on modding those, i am willing to participate (since i have an interest in cf trains). i am also a both quick learner and enthusiastic newbie, so i could get into details about this in a few hours.
u have my contact on the profile. (and plz don't ignore me.)
