Colonel Halcyon’s uniform is a little crazy in the Wing Commander Amiga rolling demo! The final product reduced everything to 16 colors which looked much closer to the EGA version.

amiga_rolling_demo1t.jpgThe Hornet cockpit slides forward to open instead of hinging up from behind. I can’t explain that change but it didn’t make it to the final version of the port!

    Differences
    • The preview uses 64-color Extra Half-Brite (EHB) mode while the final version of the game uses the standard 16-color mode.
    • Colonel Halcyon's uniform is grey with a green undershirt and a red insignia.
    • The pilots running during the scramble are noticeably closer together.
    • During the takeoff and landing cutscenes the Hornet cockpit slides forward instead of lifting up. It displays more damage than the game allows during landing.
    • The Hornet cockpit is incomplete and does not have any active instrumentation.
    • The landing cutscene shows the Hornet landing upside down

All of us at the CIC are in shock at the news of Klavs' passing. We all get caught up in the frenzy of our hectic lives, but moments like this really make you realize you don't know how lucky you are to have everyone in your life until it's too late. I had the honor of meeting Adam Burch in person once about ten years ago. He flew into town on behalf of the kit-built aircraft manufacturer that he worked for at the time. I couldn't believe how knowledgeable he was about all aspects of the plane, plus the marketing and business sides, and then he could even fly it! I work in aerospace myself, so I know how complicated this all was, and his expertise was astounding. He was also exceedingly generous and kept mentioning how he'd like to return some day so he could take me up on a flight. If you didn't know, he didn't just design Wing Commander ships - he was also a spacecraft artist/designer at

I dug this up after seeing Limited Run Games' extremely cool System Shock re-release: a doc from Wing Commander I's development that lists possible trinkets! I would've loved to see any of these... but miniature ships would've been amazing.

wc1_proposed_trinketst.jpgOf course the set of blueprints they decided to go with are hard to beat!

Hellcat V cockpits from left to right: computer generated (Wing Commander III), physical set (Wing Commander IV) and hand drawn (Wing Commander Academy). They each have their own special charm, but hats off to the Academy show artists who did a wonderful job trying to emulate the look and feel of artifacts from WC3 and other games wherever possible! What's your favorite and why?

UnnamedCharacter has extracted some fantastic images from the core files that make up Wing Commander 3! He has been experimenting with the programs in his WC Toolbox package to dig deep into the game. While exploring some of the background scenes used during game flow, he has come across a variety of alternate settings that appear to be preliminary prerelease versions of most locations.

The barracks are smaller with beds lining the walls. The bridge has significantly more glow from the various screens and safety lighting around the edges. Its framing has also been pulled back farther to reveal the central captain's chair as well as steps to the upper level. Flight Control pulls in closer to Rachel's terminal, and the loadout screen has been replaced with a video feed of the hangar. TrainSims are also not yet present. We see the flight deck from a more central viewpoint that looks out the bay

The Imperial Internal Security Service has transmitted another urgent bulletin regarding terrorist attacks on starports in the Empire.
"There have been indications that the four starports came under attack by Thargoids. We can confirm that this is not the case, and there is no evidence of Thargoid vessels in the vicinity."
"Observers reported that some of the damage inflicted on the stations' infrastructure closely resembled the effect of Thargoid weaponry. This was registered by internal sensor systems, resulting in automatic emergency broadcasts designed to summon aid during a Thargoid incursion."
"Preliminary investigations suggest the use of customised explosive devices that incorporated elements of Thargoid technology. This suggests that the perpetrators have access to unusually sophisticated resources as well as xenological materials."
"As yet there is no reason to doubt that the

Edmund Mahon has launched a political campaign to be elected as the Alliance's leader for a second term.
The incumbent prime minister is undertaking a whistle-stop tour across Alliance space to rouse support. Only members of the Assembly can cast votes in this election, but they will be heavily influenced by public opinion within their systems.
Mahon's campaign has focused on the Alliance's huge expansion during his six-year premiership, with reminders of triumphs such as the Alliance Festival of Culture. His ability to handle a crisis has also been highlighted, including President Kincaid's attempted coup and the League of Reparation's crusade.
More recent examples of his leadership are welcoming Marlinist refugees from the Empire and exploiting the Coalsack Nebula to boost economic prosperity. However, Mahon's critics have pointed out that both strategies increased the risk of attack from

The crew of the TCS Majestic continues to fight for control of the Nitir Sector! The action follows the chronicles of the Gemini Sector RPG. Weekly sessions keep the fun going on their Discord server, and Rear Admiral Tarsus continues to put these nifty mission briefings together to amplify the experience beyond your typical text-based role playing game. Sessions are held most Sunday mornings - they look like a really cool way to experience the WC series with your fellow fans. Hit the discuss button, check out their website or ask Tarsus directly for info on how to join in!

Thanks to the enhanced sensors of the Rathburn as well as cunning of the Majestic's command crew, they located the Kilrathi fleet located in the nebula near Nitir, the crew must scout out the fleet while a secondary group engages the escort, thinning it out while hiding the true intent of the party.

Mac's Lore is back with a fantastic Wing Commander fighter profile. Everyone loves the Excalibur, but long before the F-103 came online, the Rapier represented the cutting edge of Confed fighter technology. Mac has really upped his game and has arranged all kinds of impressive custom visuals just for this video. There's some really cool schematic style spec sequences as well as lots of contextual history. There's even a shout out to the Arena variants! It's a nice thorough rundown of the fighter's known escapades, and he makes great use of Klavs' famous models. Check it out below:

Before there was the Excalibur, there was the Rapier. If the False Armistice never happened, we may very well have seen a Rapier drop the Temblor Bomb on Kilrah.

There's been a lot of discussion on the various Wing Commander forums and Discord chat rooms about tabletop games recently, so today we'd like to share the first glimpse at some of the exciting progress that's been made in this area over the last month. DefianceIndustries is working on a digital recreation of the popular Tactical Operations fan game. It was a big hit about ten years ago, so a new iteration would be very welcome. The early work on this looks like a ton of fun, and we're eager to see how things come together! Check out some gorgeous sample shots below:

I figured I'd catch folks up on all the WC stuff I've been doing. Aside from working on the WC4 remake which is still plugging along, I recently started doing a version of the fan hex-game Wing Commander TacOps using table top simulator.

I'm making custom figurines and tiles, as well as fighter punch cards to help keep your stats
