Here's a round-a-bout story: we recently noticed that social media content movie site SlashFilm had posted an listicle called "Alternate Sci-Fi Villain Designs That Would've Blown Everyone Away" that included a segment about Chris Roberts' original plans for the Kilrathi in the Wing Commander movie:

Few remember 1996's "Wing Commander," a movie that bombed so badly it killed the gaming franchise that birthed it and dashed the nascent directorial career of its creator, Chris Roberts (who would later find success as a movie producer). The film suffered from questionable casting and a predictable plot, but one thing on which nearly everyone could agree is that the design of the film's villains, the Kilrathi, sucks asteroids.

I was a little reluctant when the Wing Commander movie club picked Pulp Fiction as the week's movie. I know that most of my friends loved it but my memory was one of visceral disgust: the violence, the drug use, the language and so on. It turns out that my memory was wrong: while all of those things make up the movie, they also aren't anywhere near as seriously as I took them in high school in 1995. Pulp Fiction is an endlessly brought movie that has both a giant impact on popular culture and movie making and which is also just tremendously fun to watch.
