Did you buy or build a computer? Or just replace PSU?
And trust me, re-installing is a pain, and you might forget some programs until later

Great! Welcome to Crossfire!
Hello there and welcome! I'll try to answer all your questions:
1) The server is located in Frankfurt, Germany
2) Do you mean a multiplayer ID? It should randomly generate one for you when you enter the multiplayer screen for the first time, no sign up needed
3) Yes, this is a RP server. On Planet Manhatten and Planet Crossfire you can buy RP licenses (there are Pirate, Cop, Smuggler and Merc licenses) that add a little coloured diamond over your ship to identify your RP. Also if you join a clan, you must add their tags to your character name, making your RP visible through chat too!
Huor you're gonna build a PC too?! YAY!
I've always had good luck with Gigabyte mobo's......imo, hard to go wrong when starting with that
Bingo! Never personally owned one, but when I built a PC with my cousin it was the choice and he's built his fair share with gigabyte mobos, hard to go wrong there lol
Great to see the problem resolved!! Hope to see you in space soon!
Congrats m8 ...very nice spec (ofc PSU is always 1st thing of the list)
Enjoy
Thanks m8!!
Hmm, for me, the core and motherboard came first
The rest is updatable.
Yep! I was puzzled when people were telling me to go for a cheaper MSI mobo and a lower i5/13 3xxx for a 7970 lol. I can always upgrade my GPU and PSU easily, unlike the mobo and CPU
Display Moreheh, on a K CPU version, don't overclck it to the max... it's perfectly known you have to increase the voltage pressure on it even up to 1.5 ( 50 % more than default) just to get like 2-5 % more speed, unnecessary and kills your CPU's life expectancy.
You could use "Easy Tune 6", where for me came with the disk, press the Red (top between green yellow and red) button and overclock it to 4.22 Ghz. It doesn't change the voltage, so all safe.
About that site, my GTX 650 Ti card is known to get like 4700 graphic points at 3d mark, so my green bar at GPU is smaller while at CPU is over the limit (100 % to the max) , but since mine is a Gigabyte version with 2 GB dedicated memory, 4 Gb total, and even with the OC tag by default, it hit much more than that, and with my lil tuning, it hits 6000 points (600+ less score than yours), just that this is a 130 $ card xD I went cheap on the card since I wanted a more powerful CPU, for the future (and for multithreading for composing videos and projects), than a super gaming card.
So I can't trust what that site says about my card, I can trust what it says about yours
Interesting info Mike! Thanks for that If I'm OCing anytime soon its probably after exams!
My 570 is running at 850 MHz atm with the stock evga cooler. The 7870 is a good card and overclocks pretty well... If you are OCing your CPU, you might as well bump up the GPU clocks a bit too.
I probably will actually, why not both?
Display MoreSo, any news ?
Did you overclock everything, how is it going in 3d mark ?
Can it run Crysis 3 in what the game-o-meter says ?
lol not yet, because this was invested in the only money I had left, and the fact that I have no job anymore, I want to read as much about OCing because I like to push things to the absolute max xD.
I ran the test, and as expected, my Video Card is bottlenecking Once I OC I'll probably hit the "optimized" CPU performance. If I have any money coming from a future job, and I budget everything properly (CF rent is part of this projected budget ;)) I'll probably buy a 7970/high end 8xxx + possibly bigger PSU in winter 2013!
Michael Bingo. Most of the people on the server that have played for a few months have multiple fighters anyways, so there's got to be always one in Sirius Sector available to switch to when you reach some IC/Coalition bases.
Sounds like a great idea on paper, but there is obvious fear of abuse. If there was a GR constantly on (rotating GRs but one on at least each time) then maybe, but there won't be enough GRs to make it work, and like Pui said, there are many people with ERs which opens the door to possible abuse. Like Michael said, unless you are in the IC or Coalition space, X and Arena is about 2-3 jumps away from the closest Sirius "capital" system.
[threadmoved]Anyways moved the thread to the "Crossfire Mod Development" part of the portal[/threadmoved]
so i would like to petition myself in lol, gunny, mara, you 2 know me very well lol
haha, didn't Gunny nick you "n00bshade"? xD You have my vote
Michael: Taking the heat for being a GR is part of territory, your fault or not doesn't matter. We need GR's online during US timezones. If that's not going to happen, then the problems will continue. Active enforcement has always been successful, passive enforcement fails.
Out of curiosity, is LP the only clan with a GR in North America?
i think a long time ago, under the guise of [CFPD]MIssissippi_Queen, i once RP'd an orbital bombardment of Plant X3403 and destroyed 85% of it's population. there's a screeny that someone has somewhere buuuuutttt i'm not to inclined to look.
fml. i need a computer...
I remember Mississippi Queen! You used to chase me with the BS everywhere I went
Display MoreI and a few others have decided to finally authenticate the "n00b" descriptive and actually form a club.... of n00bs. However in this case, the badge will be worn with pride ( in your sig ), signifying your dedication and occasional idiocy to RP, PvP, Server Side antics. But more so, it is for those who have grown and developed here. To be qualified for the n00b status, you have to have completed the following: 1. Contributed to the success of RP 2. Something seriously stupid which caused calamity 3. Been officially "counseled" by Op for your actions. So you know I'm in the club along with a few others.
All three of these means the list is relatively short. Intentionally doing point #2 , which leads to point #3, does not qualify you.
The badge will be completed shortly and handed out. If you refuse to post the badge in your sig, your membership is cancelled.
The first awardees are:
Yours truly ( Gunny), Cryzis, Bond, Husker, Ryder Hook, Thom88, {LP}Marauder, Daywalker, (IOC)Centaurian & {LP}50pack. Other nominees have been submitted and are under consideration.
Haha I guess I'm qualified....
1. I try my best!
2. Yeah, many times
3. If by "counselled" you mean positively, sure
[threadmoved]Anyway, all joking aside, this is moved to General Discussions (I have no idea where else it fits)[/threadmoved]
why is this thread server news?
I didn't even notice, my bad.
[threadmoved]Moved to Cares, penuries, applications (Proposal...?)[/threadmoved]
We could have like "russian ambassador", "german ambassador", and such, ment especially for those who can't properly report in english to ask these people to help with translations, or to report in their place. But not general ambassadors so that everyone starts thinking they don't even have to report anymore, "the ambassador has to do all that", and if the ambassador missed to report something, to blame them... same as how it happens to the GRs lately.
Can I haz Canadian Ambassador? loljks, but LP's GR should be on soon/from time to time, I think
Display MoreOnly in the 4 Gh range ? You can do that even with a normal CPU, non K version, better use your CPU to death and overclocke it more
I did overclock mine, non K i7 version (you can see my setup on another thread) up to 4.3 Gh, perfectly stable, without touching the BCLK part. For me I keep it in the safe zones, because I want it to live for long. Overclocking more (on an unlocked CPU) won't break it or burn it (unless you don't use a powerful cooler, not the CPU box version), but it makes the CPU live shorter, apparently much shorter, but those who can spend extra for an unlocked one, usually don't care about this since they plan to buy another one before it breaks
Btw , when overclocking, also speed up your RAM from 1333 Mhz (your current speed) to at least 1600, as any RAM is made for that speed, if yours can do more (didn't check the model), go higher, like 2400 or 2600
Don't worry, if you do this part wrong won't hurt your RAM, the system will simply not boot, reset to default itself, and say that you did it wrong, lol, at least for me.
lol I meant 4ghz range I've read you can safely OC to 4.5 GHz+. Also it's DDR3-1600, so I probably OC it to 2400 at least
but can it run minecraft?
...... crap
Display MoreOH, You got CrossFire OFF ?
How can you play CF like that ?
*fake sad face*
It's nice you got a bit more graphic capacity than mine, but a lot less physics capacity.
[/video]
That means both of us can play anything including Crysis 3, but I can force physics like in Crysis's dev mode, spawn more stuff and make videos like this:
Which is mainly thx to the CPU, rather than the graphic card.
Well I have yet to overclock my CPU (It's an unlocked CPU), I can OC it into the 4 GHz range
