Well, I can't say I have noticed this while playing. To me it seemed that it works ok, but my setup isn't HiFi audio, so it could be just flat.

Hello there,
I did try to run CF on a Win8 virtual machine, with a similar intent (IOC)Scarface135 , but because my OS is GNU/Linux I had a few issues. Firstly, the game works best in full screen mode, for capturing mouse and keyboard issues happened in windows mode. Secondly, the Win8.1 VM took a lot of resources and processing power to the point the the game became unplayable, let alone running 2 instances of a VM or 1 VM and one wine instance of the game. It is doable, but I am not sure you will be able to really play, unless you have a really good rig for that. Keep in mind that the VM's will have a degraded graphic performance, as they emulate 3D acceleration.
Good luck and let me know how it works for you.

woolfman , with the method described in the link, you don't need FLMM and the .NET Framework is already installed. You just download, unpack, update the game and play. Sorry for my inability to write in German

Very interesting. The Hypergate also looks sick like mine, but works for you. Has this char completed the gameplay as Trent and as a consequence destroyed the Hypergate to the Inner Core in New Hongkong as required?
Well, this char is MP. It never did a mission as Trent. Sorry if I misunderstood that you were also in MP.

Micropoint , there are some maps here: Sectors & Systems - SWAT Portal
The Coalition space is the upper part of this map: https://swat-portal.com/forum/wcf/image-proxy/?key=10533dae6609ef5e10abd16fdd888da70a4f9887960b26a1d5da64bc403fffc2-ahr0cdovl3d3dy5zd2f0lxbvcnrhbc5jb20vq0zeqi9xawtpl0fsdgfpci5qcgc%3d
And the Coalition Hypergate is found in New Hongkong, here's the map: New Hongkong - SWAT Portal
Good luck.

wombat1940 , I just tested the Coalition Hypergate this morning, everything is working just perfect. This is a char that has never been in the IC, so that explains the incomplete map. Here:

There is no way this gate will take you to the Inner Core in its current condition. If fact there's no way it could take you anywhere! Ha! Up till now I've ignored its condition forgetting Trent destroyed it earlier game play. My SP activities has occurred AFTER completing my role as Trent and consequently the gate was destroyed and remains so now. It just with my bad memory I had forgotten Trent had destroyed it. Hence all now makes sense. Thank you boys.
Well, wombat1940 , this hypergate is functioning for me. It takes me to the same spot in the IC as the one in O3. The one that I was talking about up this thread was the one marked on the map you published.
Regarding the SP mode, I saw an option in the launcher named "open SP", that should be the one allowing you to play SP without launching the missions.
-
wombat1940 , that's the galactic hypergate that we had to destroy in the SP. The info on it says that the gate is controlled by the Dooms so it can't be used by the humans and the DK's. On the other hand, both O3 and HK hypergates exit in the same point in the IC, the one you marked as exit only.
On the other hand, that opens interesting opportunities to develop new missions on Dom's home systems in other galaxies, in a future CF, no
?

Maybe it was just my imagination playing playing tricks on me, but I could swear I saw a reply from thanhrui thanking SWAT_OP-R8R for the response a couple of days ago... Could it be that astrum.vir=Thanh
?
Not that it would really make a difference anyways, as we could all have as many characters as we please.

daDraga , congrats mate, glad to hear you worked it out, enjoy the game!

daDraga , let me know if you want to download my working mod folder into your FLMM and then try to activate. Good luck!
-
Hello daDraga ,
I have a working zip of the mod as it is stored in the FLMM, if you think that you can't download the full mod. Let me know if you feel like downloading and copying it to the /mod folder of the FLMM.
But are you sure that the CF2 installed correctly all the components? There are a few windows components needed like vcruntimes and .net.
Have a great day,
Dan

Well, there are more things that rise that question: I found those in the DK systems of IC. I couldn't find any mention of them in the wiki or the forum. The Nomad Reapers in the second system shoot at the passing by vessel but do not chase.

[UPDATE]
Following (IOC)Wanderer's suggestions, here's the trimmed version of the download. Tested, it works following the same instructions as above.
Have a great time,

Hello fellow pilots,
I repost here a reply on a ticket for errors on running the game under GNU/Linux. It's was tested and working under Ubuntu and Debian. It's actually a copy of the wineprefix elements generating the windows environment for the game to play.
So here's how to make it work:
1. Install playonlinux on your rig. I am currently using version 4.3.4
2. Create a new virtual drive from the PlayonLinux configuration menu, 32bit windows installation, 3.0.2 wine version.
3. Download this and this(I have split the archive in 2 for size reasons), unpack in a temp folder.
4. Replace the files extracted in the wineprefix you have previously created(EDIT: it's under /home/"your account name"/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/). They will replace the config files and the drive_c folder entirely.
5. Now restart PlayonLinux.
6. Install a new, non-listed program in PlayonLinux, to create the shortcut for the game. Select edit or update an existing application, then check the box "show virtual drives", select the drive you created previously, click next on the proposed things to do before installation, choose a 32bit windows installation, pick an exe file from the drive ( I recommend ../.Playonlinux/wineprefix/"yourdrive"/drive_c/Program Files/Freelancer/EXE/Freelancer.exe). At this point the game will start, but the shortcut isn't yet created, so close the game. Then select the Freelancer.exe again for the shortcut to be created. Cancel the process if you don't need other shortcuts for other applications from the same drive. Or add also FLModManager, if you think it's useful, the app is there.
7. Run the new shortcut, to test the game. I created an "It_Works" character, just to test if the game works and connects properly to the 24/7 SWAT Crossfire Role Play Server.
8. Configure PlayonLinux, select your virtual drive, click on the Wine menu, on the right tab, start the Registry editor, and search for Freelancer. Under \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\1.0 you will find the MPAccount name and the MPAccountNamesig. If you need to set up a new player, delete the 2 keys, they will be recreated the first time you start Freelancer in MultiPlayer.
9. If you already have a MP Account, there's the place to fill in the data about it.
10. Happily play Freelancer Crossfire 2, thanking the developer of the mod for his great work!
Good luck and let me know if it works for you
Dan
PS: @(IOC) Wanderer suggests that you could also do the following, in your installed wineprefix:
"Оne can reduce game size a bit more by uninstalling FLMM and deleting all .flmmbak files. It is unnecessary to keep them after Crossfire is activated, because deactivation will not be possible anyway (it's an old problem with the Crossifre mod).
For even more space saving on my system, I also renamed _blank.wmv to swat.wmv in DATA\MOVIES and removed all other files in that folder. The game is still fully functional, but now occupies only 6.28 GB (4.02 GB on disk with NTFS compression). You can do the same if you don't need the startup movie.
Hope this helps!"

Hey there, I think I read somewhere that the nomad base in Styx is admin [GR] territory. Can't dock if you aren't one.
Have a nice one!

Right now it's SweetFX, but I have tried with Vanilla FL, and basically all of them, one by one. I mean, I have selected one from the launcher menu, then launched the game, loaded the Willard station save, went to the 3rd checkpoint, waited for the outcasts to show up, then the screen artifacts kicked in, exited, loaded another shader, repeated. All of them had the same error.
Surprisingly. the next mission at Willard's, with Walker and the Rheinland pirates had no distortion at all, even with the multitude of NPC ships flying all around.
Have a great one,
Dan
