I love FL Account Manager. It lets you backup your IDs in a file too, so you can save them. You can even apply descriptions to the ID so you can place the names of your characters on that ID, for example. I had 3 IDs in 1.7 and kept track of all my chars with that one tool. Also, it lets you switch account IDs without leaving the game. Simply disconnect from the server, Alt-Tab to FL Account Manager, change IDs and login again, you'll have your other set of characters. ;)

In answer to your question, Pizzatrooper, I'm afraid there isn't much to be done. It is possible to restore characters, for example if you had a set of characters and lost your ID, you can PM the admin (SWAT_OP_R8R) and he might be able to help you. But to transfer ships and money and everything else might be too complicated.

    Best of luck. :)

I play on a 16:10 monitor (1680x1050) and I fixed my problem by following the guide posted over at ModDB. By changing the fonts and the FOV settings (Field Of View) you can get the menus in the right spot. However, when you want to play online, start a single player game, and then exit back to the menu. This is so that the game takes on the new settings and corrects the display. Unfortunately, I have to do it every time I start the game. It's a little tedious but eventually I don't really mind it anymore.

I don't know if the exact same settings in the guide work for other widescreen resolutions, because the guide was designed for 1680x1050 resolution, but it probably does too. So give it a try and if you like tweaking, let us know what you used as FOV and Fonts settings to get it just right on a resolution below or above 1680x1050. :))

Yep, thats the problem. I don't know why but the "Special Effects" like Bump mapping and co. don't work as it is. I've also had that problem, and fixed it by selecting the defaults.

*IF* it still does it after changing the options though, then there is another problem. But I doubt that. :))

Eep! Does that mean a complete reinstall is necessary? ;('

Edit: Actually, can I just deactivate the mod, install the 1.81 exe over the other mod install and reactivate?

Actually knowing my luck I'll probably have to reinstall completely.

Guys lets face it, making money in this game isn't actually that easy. Sure in a days trade you might make over 100m but that is not reason enough to have a bank. I played another mod where they had a banking system and it was only useful there because the mission rewards were up to 50m each. In our FL it takes a little longer than just a mission to get 50m.

If I had to suggest anything it would be to have a command to send money to a character, like Bladed said. That would be useful. Because its not all the time that clanmates are online to help with transfers.

Then again of course you already said no and I accept that. It would only be a convenient thing, not a necessity. :))

That's odd because when I installed CF 1.8 for the first time I had a clean install of Freelancer with the 1.1 Patch, and it worked fine. I had to reinstall 5 times but that was because I had the wrong settings selected and experimented with the new cursors. :)

What do you mean a Singleplayer Patch? When he activates the mod all he has to do is either choose Normal SP (for the Campaign with Juni and Co.) or OpenSP so that he can play just like MP, but without the other players, just NPCs.

    I hope that helps. ^^

I had the same problem as I play on a 1680x1050 Monitor, and when I followed the guide at ModDB it worked perfectly.

The only problem I see is that it doesn't automatically take on the settings in the .ini file when you start the game. So whenever I start the game, I have to start the Single Player game (only way to "Reset" the FOV) so that it works. Otherwise my HUD is messed up because the game doesn't take on the new settings...

I wish there was an easier way to do it so that the game takes the new FOV and font size settings each time you start the game. I mean, after all, its in the game setting files... ^^

No no, you missunderstood. I had a Liberty Battleship with the Turrets from CF Dock 1, I don't even know how to get that CSF Ship. It was just flying around X when I started attacking it. That's what I mean.

I'm just saying I wish it was available for purchase. :))

I'll admit I cheated to get the credits for the battleship, but thats it. And this was OpenSP anyways. I'm not a cheater otherwise; its like being in bed with Scarlett Johannsson, but you have to finish off by hand... :D

I want a CSF Battleship!!! They look so cool, plus they have a lot of armor. I tried taking one down with my own BS in Singleplayer and it took forever. Good think I had a head start before he turned hostile (his shields were already down) otherwise maybe he would have killed me, ROFL.

Woah, I feel for you guys who have to play on those PCs. Why not upgrade? There are some decent low-end PCs ready built that you can buy for like 500 Euros. It's not top of the line but still kicks a 12 year old PC's ass any day. XD

My specs (just to make you jealous :P):

    Asus P5B Deluxe Motherboard
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13GHz)
    2GB Kingston ValueRAM (DDR2-800MHz)
    nVidia GeForce GTX260
    420W Thermaltake PSU
    Samsung 2253BW LCD (22" WSXGA+)
    2x 120GB HDD (don't remember brand)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess he's saying he can't see the servers. ?(

    In which case I'd say:
Iceman: don't install Crossfire 1.7, install Crossfire 1.8. If that still doesn't work, check your internet connection, and make sure that the game updates itself correctly (with the new 2.01 Launcher).

If that isn't the case, please be more specific as to what you cannot see about Crossfire. :))

P.S.: Moi aussi, je parle français ^^

I don't blame you for what you guys do, and well, after trying to fine 2 pirates a long time ago, I gave up after they refused and promptly blew me to bits. XD Well, in any case, I know you LPs are good guys, even though you're pirates. You're plundering gracefully, so to speak. :P

Well I don't think the Pirates and Police are not doing their jobs right. Although I would admit that I don't fine very often. The problem is, never will I see a pirate that is willing to stop and pay a fine. You guys just run and then its a pain. When I get attacked I stop, wait, see if the pirate wants tax, and if not, then I open fire or run.

And usually because I get taxed in my train, I just pay, because I can't fight with it anyways. I wish pirates would do that once in a while. I know criminals in real life run faster when a cop goes "STOP RIGHT THERE!" but not all do. ^^

Well, for the reasons I stated above, that would just put you guys at an advantage. Because no one trades with fighters, and no one wants to defend, because they are too afraid to lose their cargo.

However I do agree we work something out to make the RP a little more interesting. And different traderoutes is definitely a good option.

I would propose that the prisoner run also changes sometimes. Because just like before everyone will be trading with Prisoners because its legal, fast, and profitable, and it never changes. The only more profitable routes are BMGs, and though some are short, others take you across the entire Sirius system. While its nice to explore and trade, losing a shipment on the way because of NPCs or players is not fun. So we need more legal routes that are more or less profitable than the prisoner run.

But for now I'd say we wait and see. Maybe OP already has something planned. I mean, up until now, there is nothing to complain about, except the bugs, but thats normal since its Beta. So maybe when the Dynamic Universe comes back we will have new traderoutes?
