    Introduction

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 Years After The Nomad Incident

The war was over and peace reigned over Sirius.

President Jacobi, Queen Carina, Shogun Matsumoto, and Chancellor Koller had met the Family

heads of the Corsairs and Outcasts at Curacao to discuss the formation of the New Hispanic

Republic . Discussions had lasted many months but were successful. The 4 Great Houses united

with their ancient Brethren to combine their ancient ties. Treaties were made with the new

Republic of Hispania and trade was profitable. Liberty , Bretonia, Kusari, and Rheinland

helped to bring Hispania on up to their technological level and supplied them with mining

vessels and construction rigs. Trade Lanes and Jump Gates were put up through out the

Omicron Systems. Cryer Pharmaceuticals devised a cure for Cardamine use to enable the

Outcasts to leave their home without it. Artifact trading was once again legalised with

    strict controls over its trading.

Trent had stayed on Manhatten. During the Nomad

wars he had made himself rich with Freelance work and spent most of his days lounging

around. He still did Freelancing not for the credits, just the thrill.

    Juni had been

promoted to Assistant Director within the LSF by direct recommendation of President Jacobi.

King was also promoted in the LSF to Junis position of Commander.

    Lord

Hakkera kept his secret ties with the Blood Dragons and remained prefect of

    Honshu.

Herr Von Claussen disappeared after the final battle.

    Quintaine and

Sinclair now worked directly for Orillion onboard the Osiris deep inside the Dyson Sphere.

Finally, Orillion. The Order rebuilt their home on Toledo and constructed Research

Base Hathor inside the Dyson Sphere.

Everybody involved knew the Nomads hadnt been

destroyed. With the redistribution of power they moved through the Hyper Gate to an as of

yet unknown system. The Order had to deal with minor Nomad incursions every so often but

recently, it had become very quiet.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----
    Chapter 1 - Discovery

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the last 18 months, the Order, with top secret funding from Liberty , had created an

unmanned probe, suitable for Hyper Gate travel.

Orillion had given the order to

launch the probe into the unknown system.

The probe had been set for 48 hours

surveillance of the unknown system directly on the other side.

    The new shield

configuration held out, passing through the hyper gate with out any problems. Two days later

it returned for study on Hathor.

Quintaine and Sinclair had been studying the

findings that the probe brought back and were to present the findings to Orillion.

What have you got for me Doctor Asked Orillion.

    The findings are

astounding Replied Quintaine. The probe visited just the one system on the other side and

has picked up at least 8 planets and if Im right, at least 12 Jump Holes

    What do

    you suggest Doctor?

The only way we can get proper readings is by sending through

    a manned exhibition

This confirmed to Orillion what he had already wanted to do.

    Thank you Doctor

There was one other thing Explained Quintaine.

Data from the probe suggests that there is a large debris field just on the other

side. The materials are as of yet unknown. We have no records of anything like these

Continue with your research Doctor. Report back to me in 2 weeks with your

    findings

    Chapter 2 - Bar Talk

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trent was drinking in Pittsburgh bar when he was alerted to an incoming transmission on

    his neural net.

    Trenthere

    Colonel Trent, This is

    Orillion

Orillion! How are the Nomad Incubi these days? Trentasked.

    Their

quiet Trent . Have you any contact with Juni or King?

    Im meeting King here on

Pittsburgh in about half an hour. He can never resist cheap

    drinks!

    Junko?

I havent seen her for a while. She too busy with the

    LSF

Oh replied Orillion. Youll see her again soon. Trent , we need you to come

to the Osiris. Bring King with you. Im downloading co-ordinates into your Neural net now.

Come as soon as you can colonel

    Whats this about? asked Trent

    Not over

the Comms channel. Youll be briefed on the Osiris. See you soon. Orillion out

    45

minutes passed until King arrived at the bar.

Your late said Trent while smirking

at King. He didnt really care.

Sorry about that buddy replied King. I landed half

an hour ago but I had to make a pit stop first. I think it was some dodgy Synth paste or

    something. Ive been shi

Trent interrupted. About to give far to much info their

King. Anyway, we cant stop. I received a transmission from Orillion. He wants us on the

    Osiris

You never listen do you. You remember what happened the last

    time?

Ok, your right. Were still going.

    Where is the Osiris? asked

    King

    Co-ordinates indicate the Dyson Sphere

    Lets go

    then

    -----
    Chapter 3 - Reunited

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trent and King flew through the Omicron systems without excitement and had arrived at

    the Osiris.

On the deck of the Osiris, Trent and King were greeted with a familiar

    face.

    Lord Hakkera

Welcome back Mr Trent. Its good to see you

    again

Its been a while Lord Hakkera

Yes it has Trent . Please come with

me. There is someone else that wants to see you.

    Trent and King followed Lord

    Hakkera down to engineering.

A voice greeted Trent upon entering

    engineering.

    Ah Mr Trent, my saviour!

Herr von Claussen, your ok! Were the

    hell did you go?

I went back to Rheinland Trent. I continued my work on the

Bundscuh rebel base. I owed them for their sacrifices

Well, its good to see your

    ok

Thank you Trent . You as well

Er Mr Trent. There is someone else who

wishes to speak with you alone, please come with me. King, may I suggest you go to the

briefing room. Orillion is waiting for you

King left to go to Orillion while Hakkera

led Trent to the crew quarters.

We are here Mr Trent. Orillion would like to see

    you in 20 minutes

    Thanks Lord Hakkera

Lord Hakkera left Trent to make his

    way to the briefing room.

    Trent entered the room.

Hello Trent . Its good to

    see you again

    Juni?

I was beginning to think we werent partners any more

Trent Juni said with a smile.

Trent smiled back. He wasnt too sure what to

    say.

    Howve you been? Trentasked.

Good Trent . I want to ask

    you

Orillion came over the comms channel in Junis room interrupting

    her.

Colonel Trent, Colonel Zane, please come to the briefing room

    Well

    finish this another time Juni

    said.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -----
    Chapter 4 - The Brief

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trent and Juni made their way to the briefing room. The room was large with a big

table in the middle. Lord Hakkera, Herr Von Claussen, Cobo, King, Sinclair, Quintaine and

Colonel Kress were present, along with Orillion.

    Trent and Juni took a

    seat.

Thank you all for coming on such short notice Orillion said. You will all

probably be wondering why o have asked you all to come here today. For a while now, we have

been conducting research on the hyper gate that we opened 2 years ago, and until yesterday

we had no idea what was on the other side. Thanks to funding from Liberty , we were able to

produce an unmanned probe capable of hyper gate travel. Initial results have shown many

planets and jump holes, not to mention the hyper gate holes. It has been decided, that if we

are to successfully assess the nomad threat to Sirius, we will have to set through a manned

exhibition in through the Hyper gate and set up a research station on the other side. In the

meantime, we have made modifications to the Osiris, which will allow us safe passage through

the hyper gate and to the system on the other side to allow us to begin construction of the

new station. You will all be given your mission briefings once on the other side. Are there

    any questions?

Is it likely to get over there? Trentasked.

    Unknown

replied Orillion. Apart from what I have just given you, we have no intel on any ships on

the other side of the gate. Anymore?

There was silence within the order

    ranks.

Good. We have begun preparations to move through the hyper gate. We should be

ready in 24 hours. I suggest you get all the equipment you need here.

    Dismissed

Everyone began to leave the briefing room. King followed Trent to the

    Osiris bar.

Sidewinder Fang Trent asked the barman.

    King sat down next

    Trent.

Seems like only yesterday we were out here in the thick of things doesnt it

    King said to Trent.

This is going to be interesting Replied

    Trent.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chapter 5 - Rude Awakening

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    DIE SCUM!! shouted Trent.

Nomad Interceptors surrounded him. Juni and King

werent going to last much longer either. Space was filled with the enigmatic purple glow of

hundreds of Nomad Interceptors and battleships.

Trent , we need help over here!

Shouted Juni over the comms channel.

    Im breaking my attack, engaging

    hostile

Trent left his target and engaged Junis tail.

    Eat this! Trent

fired off a Sunstalker missile and made a direct hit on the interceptor.

    Trent , I

need your help over here! Shouted King.

Im sorry Trent . I dont think we can win

this one. Walker what are you doing, you wont survive that blast, Im glad you made it back

    though

Juni, what are saying? said Trent

    Trent I

    cantl..t..mu.l..ge.!!!

Kings ship went up with an amazing

    explosion.

    Kinggggg!!! Shouted Trent .

Wake up Trent , were here!

Uh Huh no King no, oh err King?! Replied Trent in his half dazed state. What are

    you doing here?

Were here. Get your stuff ready, were meeting Orillion in 10. Are

    you ok?

Yeah. Bad dream thats all. It seemed so real

    Welcome to your real

nightmare Trent . Come on, we gotta go.

King ran out of Trents room and made his way

    to the briefing room.

Trent hadnt been woken by the rough ride through the hyper

    gate.

Trent threw on his legendary brown jacket had a quick wash and made his way to

the briefing room. King, Juni, Lord Hakkera, Herr Von Claussen, Orillion, Quintaine and

Sinclair were all waiting for him.

    Sorry Im late said Trent

    Thats ok

    colonel. Please take a seat

Ok. Shall we begin? Since our arrival here, we have

conducted scans for Nomad vessels. It appears nobody is home. Long range scans report 12

jump holes leading out of this system. You will split in to three attack groups. Trent and

Juni, you will be Alpha, King and Von Claussen, you will be beta and Lord Hakkera and Cobo

you will be delta. Your mission is to take preliminary readings of the jump holes in your

neural nets. Each attack group is to examine 4 hump holes. We need to know if they are phase

aligned, what lies on the other side if possible, and if we can safely pass through them. In

the event of hostile contact, you are to proceed back to the Osiris for de-briefing. We

cant afford to lose anybody out there. Is that understood?

    Everyone nodded with

    approval.

Good. As always, the equipment dealer here on the Osiris, should be able

to help you out with anything you need. Are there any questions?

    The room was

    quiet.

Good. Good luck out there people. Dismissed

    Everyone started to file

out of the room and made their way to their ships.

Well, it does look as though

were partners again Trent said to Juni.

Juni smiled back at Trent but said nothing.

She had been wishing she hadnt taken that promotion within the LSF.

    Whats wrong?

    Trentasked.

Nothing replied Juni. Lets just get to our ships and do

    this

Trent and Juni continued down to the docking bay.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chapter 6 - Close Encounters

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Colonel Trent, Colonel Zane, you are cleared for launch. Good luck out

    there

Trent and Juni cleared the Osiris. And were followed shortly after by the

    others.

Trent , the first waypoint is sector 6c. Its furthest from the Osiris so

    well work our way back

Good plan replied Trent . Lets go

    The flight to

the first jump hole was a treacherous one. Trent and Juni were lucky to have made it through

a huge asteroid field followed by a methane field. However, the veteran pilots made it

    safely to the co-ordinates.

Ok Juni, were here hurry up. I have a real bad feeling

    about this

Its strange, the jump hole is phase aligned but I cant get any readings

on where it leads. Where ever it goes, we havent been there yet.

    Thats great Juni

can we go to the next one now?

Ok Trent . Dont worry, Im not far!

    Trent

and Juni continued their scans until they reached the last jump hole.

    Let me guess,

phase aligned no readings on where it goes

Trent could hear Juni sigh. She had been

    hoping for a little action.

    Come on Tre

    Trent, Juni

    t..s.is.K.ngW..h.v..c..e.attnd.imid..t.a..is.ce!!

    Trent could make out

    the panic in Kings voice.

Damn it Juni, we gotta help them. Their only 10k away from

    our location

But Trent , what about our orders?

You know as well as I do

neither of us are going back to the Osiris

    Trent and Juni hit cruise

    speed.

    Oh my god gasped Trent

Space was filled with over two dozen

    interceptors and five Nomad battleships.

Kings ship was on fire and didnt look as if

it was going to last much longer. Von Claussens shields were taking a beating from the

    Nomad attack.

Trent and Juni engaged the closest Interceptor.

    Trent got on his

    comm.

Lord Hakkera, this is Trent , we need immediate assistance, we are under heavy

Nomad fire, repeat, we are under heavy fire

We are on our way replied Lord

    Hakkera.

Trent , there are too many of them. We have to get out of here! Shouted

    Juni over the comms channel.

Lord Hakkera and Cobo are on their way. We cant out

run them, we have to fight

Trent tore apart an Interceptor with his Death

    Hands.

Juni, I have Hakkera and Cobo on my scanner. Their closing in fast

    I

heard you needed some help said Hakkera. Engaging Nomad fighters

    With their Blood

Dragon training, Lord Hakkera and Cobo managed to destroy a further 4 interceptors with

    their excellent shooting.

Suddenly the Jump hole King and Von Claussen had been

studying came to life and 20 more interceptors and a Nomad Gunboat filed through.

Trent we have to go now! Shouted Juni.

Lord Hakkera, Cobo, escort Juni, King, and

Von Claussen back to the Osiris, I will hold them off while you make your

    retreat.

No Trent , thats suicide replied Juni

Go! Ill meet you back on

the Osiris. Dont worry Ill be fine

Be careful Trent said Hakkera. Everyone,

enter formation, were heading for the Osiris

The hit cruise speed and made their

way back to the Osiris while Trent dodged and weaved the Nomad fire. His plan had worked.

Trent , we are near the Osiris, disengage and return home said Lord Hakkera over

    the comms.

    On my way replied Trent.

Trent powered up his Cruise engines when

he felt a huge knock that shook his ship and disabled his engines and

    weapons.

Hakkera, Im in trouble. My weapons and engines are down and need immediate

    assistance!

Trent got no response. Something was jamming his

    communications.

Suddenly Trent s scanners picked up a massive engine surge directly

    behind him.

What the!? Trent said to himself.

    A Nomad Interceptor was

heading straight at him firing frantically disabling his shields and gradually eating away

at the modified armour on his Anubis. It dawned on Trent that he was not going to be making

    it back to the Osiris.

As the Interceptor was almost on top of him a huge blue pulse

emanated from behind him and vaporised the ship. What ever was behind Trent was now firing

back at the Nomads with ferocious aggression. It fired off countless shots and quickly

destroyed 2 of the Nomad battleships. The remaining Nomad vessels retreated back through the

    jump hole.

There was another knock on Trent s ship as he was pulled backwards to

    whatever was behind

    him.

    Chapter 7 - The Debrief

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lord Hakkera, this is the Osiris, you may proceed to dock 1

    Lord Hakkera

was the last to dock with the Osiris.

Everyone had made it back safely apart from

Trent . On the deck of the Osiris, Orillion was waiting for them.

    Report shouted

    Orillion

There were Nomads sir. Over 30 of them. We responded to Kings distress

    call replied Juni

Your orders were to return to the Osiris at any sign of trouble.

Whilst what you and Lord Hakkera did was honourable, we could have lost all of you said

    Orillion.

Any signs of Trent asked Von Claussen.

No reports. We had him on

long range scans but his ship has disappeared replied Orillion.

    Dead? asked Juni

with a slight quiver in her voice.

Unknown replied Orillion. If the Nomads were as

numerous as you say, it is unlikely Colonel Trent survived. Seconds before he left our

scanners, we picked up a massive energy surge right by his ship. We assume it was destroyed.

He may have used an escape pod but until we can assess the Nomad threat in the area, we will

not be sending a rescue team.

But Trent is one of the best Order pilots. If he is

out there, we cant just leave him there! shouted Juni.

    I understand your concerns

colonel. But I cannot risk the lives of anymore pilots replied Orillion.

    Yes sir!

    Juni responded.

Get yourselves settled. I want you all to bring the data you found

about the jump holes to engineering in 5 minutes

    Orillion left the docking

    bay.

Well I cant just wait around here for something to happen. Im going to find

    Trent said Juni.

    What about Orillion? replied King

    If Trent is out there,

    then Im not staying here

King knew that Juni was going to go so he didnt try

    persuading her to stay.

Be careful Juni said Lord Hakkera. I will take care of

    things with Orillion

    Thank you Lord Hakkera

Lord Hakkera nodded with a half

hearted approval. If Trent was alive, he knew Juni wasnt coming back until she found

    him.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----
    Chapter 8 - The Awakening

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trents ship came to a halt inside the alien structure. The pulsating green

florescent glow in the room was giving Trent a headache.

He flicked a switch to open

up his cockpit, grabbed his LSF issue L-14 Brainbuster Magnum and made his way down out of

    his ship.

What is this place? Trent said to himself.

    The room appeared to be

a huge docking bay. Trents Anubis was the only ship invited to the party.

    Trent had

a look around to see if he could find a way out of the docking bay. He made his way over to

what appeared to be a huge door standing no less than 15 feet high. The door opened

    automatically as he got closer.

Huh. Were is everybody? Trent thought to

    himself.

Trent walked down the newly revealed corridor. The entire structure was

massive and the same green glow was all around him. He had never seen anything like

    it.

As he wandered further and further down the corridor he found himself standing in

    front of another huge door.

He readied his weapon as he triggered the automatic

    door.

The shear sight of what was before Trents eyes made him step back.

    He

could make out, what appeared to be thousands of stasis chambers. Each of which were

standing at least 10 feet high.

My god said Trent, startled by what he had stumbled

    upon.

He re entered the room and made his way to a strange platform in front of him.

The plate then lowered itself to the ground floor of the stasis chamber. He made his way

    over to the closest pod.

The pod was covered in a thick layer of dust. What ever was

behind it, it hadnt moved in a long time.

Trent wiped away the dust on the first

    chamber. Nothing. Darkness.

If something was in the black, Trent knew he might be

safe. But not knowing if something was in there, his heart started to race.

    He

checked the next few pods down the line. All of them filled with the same

    darkness.

The feeling of dread that had overcome Trent intensified. The silence in

the room made him fell even uneasier.

Not knowing if the inhabitants of the structure

were still on board, Trent made his way back to the levitating plate.

    As he stepped

on it, the lights in the room went out.

Uh oh said Trent. This cant be

    good

    The plate wasnt responding.

    The lights then came back

    up

Suddenly, the entire structure shook as if it was just waking. The sheer force

knocked the dust off of the stasis chambers.

    Trent feared the worst.

    Out of

the corner of his eye, Trent could see each stasis chamber light up one by one.

    The

first tank started to fill up with a red liquid. The pods were coming alive.

    Knowing

that he couldnt get back the way he came, Trent ran straight ahead to find a way

    out.

The room was vast and he felt as though he was running out of time. Frantically

looking for a way out something caught Trents eye that made him stop.

    In front of

him was a gold coloured chamber, with strange writing above it.

    The red liquid had

now filled up in all of the chambers apart from the one Trent was looking at. The writing

    above it started glowing blue.

Trent turned to run when he heard the pod behind him

open. He froze. Unable to run forward through fear, he turned his head.

    As he turned

his sideways to peer over his shoulder, a huge hand grasped Trents head and knocked him

    unconscious.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    ------------
    Chapter 9 - Rescue Party

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juni cleared the Osiris docking bay, punched in Trents last known co-ordinates, and

    headed for his location.

Colonel Zane said Orillion over the comms channel. You

are to return to the Osiris immediately

Im sorry. If Trents alive, I cant leave

    him out there replied Juni.

In that, you are to cut your engines and remain at your

    current location

    Why? replied Juni.

As Lord Hakkera failed to cover up for

you, I am sending him to assist you in your search for Colonel Trent. You are both ordered

to return back to the Osiris safely. Is that understood?

    Yes. Thank you

    sir

    Good luck colonel. Orillion out.

Juni disengaged her cruise engines and

awaited the arrival of Lord Hakkera. Juni hadnt got far from the Osiris so it didnt take

long for Hakkera to reach Junis location.

Ah Ms Zane. Shall we proceed? said

Hakkera as he pulled up at Junis side.

Im sorry for dragging you in to this Lord

    Hakkera

No need for apologies Juni. Lets just find Trent and get back to the

    Osiris

Lord Hakkera and Juni re engaged their cruise engines and headed for Trents

    last location.

Juni, were approaching Trents last location. Im beginning scans

for debris said Hakkera over the comms.

Its strange. Just a short while ago there

were dozens of Nomad vessels here. Now. Nothing

Juni said Hakkera coming over the

comms. My scans show nothing. No debris at all. No engine signatures. Nothing. Its almost

    as if Trents ship disappeared

Orillion said that there was a large energy surge

behind Trents ship before it left the Osiris scanners. Can you find anything regarding

    that?

No. Whatever it was, its gone now and left no trace of it self.

    Juni

started to lose hope in finding Trent alive.

Suddenly, Orillion came over the comms

    channel.

Juni, Hakkera, break your search and return back to the Osiris

    immediately!

Why? Whats going on? replied Juni.

    Energy surges like the

one behind Trents ship are appearing on our long range scans

    There was bleep on

Junis scanner as some of the surges appeared at just 10k away form Juni and Hakkeras

    position.

Juni, are you reading this? said Hakkera.

    Yes. We must get back

to the Osiris. Orillion we are on way

Hakkera and Juni engaged cruise speed and

    headed back to the

    Osiris.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -------
    Chapter 10 - Unlikely Alliance

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trent awoke to find himself in a large room surrounded by large humanoid figures.

The bright light shining directly in his face obscured their features.

    Where am I?

    What happened? mumbled Trent.

You are safe replied a strange voice. It was almost

as if the reply from the beings was direct in his mind.

    Who are you? asked

    Trent.

We are the ancients, the creators of the ones you seek. We are Dom

    Kavash

Trent was unsure as to whether he should be excited or afraid. After all, he

was in the presence of not only a highly evolved alien species, but also the creators of the

    Nomads.

    What am I doing here?

Our auto defences captured you and your ship

for study. We had no records of your species in our logs. In our great sleep, our ship will

capture and study unknown beings and materials for research

    What do you plan on

    doing with me Trent asked.

We have already concluded our scans. We have the ability

to read your mind and adapt

Then is you have finished, why am I being held

    here

    We require your species assistance

    With what? asked

    Trent.

Over 1000 years ago, we left our home in the place you call Sirius, to

further ourselves in the galaxy and to explore unknown worlds. We had lived in peace for

millennia, evolving to what stands here before you. We created the ones you call Nomads to

protect our home from expanding alien beings. To awake if they got close to our Hyper gate

system. They were a precautionary measure and upon our return home, were to be destroyed.

Unfortunately, your species awoke them. The Nomads were bred to be a highly aggressive and

highly adaptive species that could easily overwhelm any obstacle in their way. 2 years ago,

upon your activation of the hyper gate system, you sent them through here. No precautionary

measures were taken and the Nomads consider all beings to be hostile. Including us, their

    creators.

And what do you need our help for then? Your far more advanced than we

    are.

When we left, we travelled deep into space, encountering many forms of alien

life and civilisations. Our long voyage through space took its toll on our species and our

numbers have dwindled. There is now only a small fraction of our species left. Since you

awoke the Nomads, they have been spreading like disease across these systems. They have

evolved quickly and aggressively and their numbers are far greater than ours. For creating

the Nomads, we have unleashed a great plague upon the world. We must destroy this threat but

we cannot engage the Nomads alone. Years of peace have made us weak and inexperienced in

battle. Your species are experienced and you have the numbers

    What if we

    refuse?

You cannot. Your technology is weak in comparison to ours. If the Nomads

sent through a huge fleet, your species would not survive. We will share technology for your

    help

The bright light in Trents face turned off. The faces of the beings in front

of him came in to focus. Huge, thin blue skinned creatures. Their heads were large with big

red eyes. There faces were scale like.

The green pulsating glow that Trent had got

used turned red and was almost like an alarm.

We have a Nomad fleet on our long

range scans and are approaching rapidly. We require your assistance immediately.

    Ok

    get me to my ship

The Dom Kavash led Trent out of the room he was being held in back

to the docking bay where his Anubis was waiting. Dom Kavash pilots were scrambling to

fighters that hadnt been there from when Trent arrived.

    The huge docking bay doors

opened and 25 Dom Kavash fighters, including Trent left the docking bay anxiously awaiting

    the Nomad fleet.

Trent turned his Anubis to face the structure he had just left. In

front of him was the most magnificent ship he had ever seen. Its was a gleaming dark blue

and Trent could make out many weapons. The ship was at least 3 times the size of the

    Osiris.

When the Nomads came in to sight, the colour of space turned purple as the

Nomad fleet advanced. Trent hadnt seen this many Nomads for two years since The Order

attacked the Nomad home world in Sirius.

The Dom Kavash fighters engaged the Nomad

    fleet. Trent followed suit.

The Nomads were plentiful. Two Nomad Battleships, five

gunboats and at least 50 Interceptors made up the Nomad fleet.

    Trent started firing

his Death Hands at one of the Interceptors with frightening accuracy, with each shot

pounding the hull of the targeted Nomad Interceptor.

The Dom Kavash pilots were not

so skilled. The Nomads took out 4 of the fighters with relative ease and the big plasma

weapon on the Dom Kavash battleship was useless with smaller craft. Trents Anubis started

to take punishment as well. Three nomad interceptors were on his tail and he couldnt shake

    them.

Trent started evasive manoeuvres and he could see a couple more of the Dom

    Kavash fighters get destroyed.

Trent was getting more and more frustrated at being

unable to lose the Nomad Interceptors when suddenly two of the Interceptors went up in

    purple dust.

We heard you and your friends needed some help

    It was Juni over

    the Comms channel.

Damn, am I glad to hear your voice! said Trent with excitement.

    But how did you?

No time to explain Trent, we will talk on the

    Osiris

Herr Von Claussen, King, Kress and Lord Hakkera had accompanied Juni along

    with three fighter wings.

Engaging Hostiles! shouted Juni. Von Claussen, King,

take your wings and concentrate your fire on the Nomad Battleships!

    Von Claussen's

wing broke its attack pattern and engaged one of the Nomad battleships.

    Fire!

    shouted Von Claussen.

Von Claussens wing fired off a missile salvo. Each sunslayer

made contact with the battleship and tore it apart.

    Kings wing had followed suit

    quickly disabling the last battleship.

Juni, I still have a Nomad on my tail!

    shouted Trent.

Juni disengaged her target and locked on to Trents

    tail.

Junis favoured Magma Hammer turret pounded the interceptor.

    Ive got a

    lock, firing missile

Junis sunstalker missile made a direct hit on the interceptor

    reducing it to nothing.

The Order fighters, along with the remaining Dom Kavash

    quickly overwhelmed the Nomads.

Thank you Juni said Trent. So, how did you find

    me?

Dont mention it. I have contacted Orillion and the Osiris will be here

shortly. We will talk about it

    there.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -------
    Chapter 11 - Battle Plans

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The deck of the Osiris was bustling with activity and

    excitement.

Orillion, Sinclair, and Quintaine were on the deck to welcome Trent,

Juni, King Hakkera, Herr von Claussen and the Dom Kavash envoy.

    Juni and Trent

made their way over to Orillion.

So how did you know I was alive? asked

    Trent.

My heart told me replied Juni softly.

    Trent looked into her

    eyes and smiled.

How did you find me? Trent asked.

    Lord Hakkera and

I came looking for you but couldnt pick you up on our scans. Orillion ordered us back here

as the Osiris scanners picked up energy surges throughout the system. We arrived on the

Osiris shortly before the Dom Kavash made contact with us. The energy surges were Dom Kavash

ships de-cloaking. They explained to Orillion that our help was needed. When they told us

they had rescued you and you were on board a cloaked dreadnaught in this system, Orillion

ordered us to come and ensure your safety.

Well. Said Trent. You came just in

    time

    Orillion was waiting for them.

Colonel Trent, its good to see

    you alive said Orillion.

Thanks to Juni. I understand youve been filed in on

    the current situation?

The Dom Kavash representative came over from his ship.

Quintaine and Sinclair could hardly hide their excitement.

    Welcome to the Osiris

    Halaponmelep said Orillion

Thank you. We are looking forward to our

    relationship with your species

Shall we proceed to the briefing room? There we

can discuss the threat of the Nomads in this system

    Everyone followed Orillion

to the briefing room. King, Hakkera, Von Claussen, Cobo and Kress were already

    waiting.

    Everyone took their seats.

    Orillion began the briefing. Ok,

straight to business. As you are all aware, the Nomad threat in this system is very real.

The Nomads are more aggressive than our last get together. With the help of our new found

friends, we must devise a way to contain and hopefully eradicate the Nomad threat to our

people and to the Dom Kavash. We will send through scouting missions through each jump hole

    to assess the Nomad threat.

Will this lead to an all out assault with everything

    we have asked King.

Yes King replied Orillion. Unfortunately, our lack of

knowledge on how far the Nomads have stretched themselves within this and the neighbouring

systems prevents us from launching an all out assault on the Nomads straight

    away.

How far did liberty get with the construction and research of cloaking

    devices? asked Trent.

The Osiris was the first. Replied Orillion.

    Why?

When the Nomads first attacked, the Osiris was safe as they couldnt see

it. But they could somehow see the cloaked Dom Kavash ship. If Liberty was able to make more

of their cloaking system for smaller ships, we could have the element of surprise on our

side. We could scout the systems safely and then strike strategic targets with the new found

    intelligence

Orillion looked pleased at Trents idea.

    Orillion turned

    to Halaponmelep.

How did the Nomads see your ships?

    We gave the

Nomads our cloaking technology when we first created them. With it, we gave them the

cloaking frequency to enable them to spot themselves. Unfortunately, that means they can see

    us.

Very well. Sounds good. I will try to make the necessary arrangements. In

the meantime, you all deserve a rest. Find something relaxing to occupy your time while we

    await word from Liberty. Dismissed

King, Hakkera, Kress, Cobo and Herr Von

Claussen left to go to the Osiris bar.

Trent and Juni started making their way

    back to their quarters.

Hey Trent! shouted King. Not joining us for some

    Liberty ale?

No thanks King. Replied Trent. Its been a long few days. Im

going to try and get some sleep

No problems. Ill drink five for

    ya!

Trent and Juni walked down to their quarters. They were not far from the

    briefing room.

Trent walked Juni to her quarters.

    Did you want to

come in? Ive got a bottle of very old Kusari Saki? Said Juni with a

    smile.

    Trent was hesitant.

I really shouldnt. I should get some

    sleep

Come on. After all, your only going to be lounging around in your room

    anyway

Ok. Not for long though. I really need to catch up on my

    sleep.

Trent entered Junis room, sat down on the end of Junis bed, and she

opened up the bottle of Saki.

What happened between us Trent? asked

    Juni.

Trent looked surprised by Junis question and almost choked on his

    saki.

What do you mean? replied Trent.

    Why did we never get

    together?

I wanted too. You were just too busy when you got your promotion. We

    hardly saw each other

I can see you now said Juni with cheeky

    smile.

    Trents heart started to race.

Juni leaned over and kissed Trent

    gently on the lips.

Trent looked deep in to Junis eyes, placed his hand on her

cheek embraced her and kissed her for what seemed like a

    lifetime.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    -------------
    Chapter 12 - Scouts Honour

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was 0700hrs on the Osiris.

Will all senior personnel please report to the

    docking bay

Trent rolled over and shook Juni gently.

    Juni said

Trent. Juni, wake up weve gotta go

Humh, what time is it? asked Juni

    sleepily.

Its 7 in the morning. Weve got to go to the docking

    Trent

rolled out of bed and threw his clothes on. Juni followed a few minutes

    later.

Juni and Trent were the first to meet Orillion and Halaponmelep in the

    docking bay.

    Whats going on? asked Trent.

    Be patient Trent. Well

wait for the others replied Orillion.

It was 10 minutes before everyone had

arrived on the docking bay. King was suffering from a bad hangover.

    Ok everyone,

listen up. Liberty has been contacted regarding their cloaking system. They are unable to

mass produce the cloaking technology in the short period of time that we

    need

What!? shouted King. How are we supposed to travel through the Nomad

    systems in safety?

Halaponmelep and I have been discussing plans to re

configure their cloaking field frequencies to match that of the Osiris. He has been in

contact with his ship and Dom Kavash engineers have so far been successful in matching the

frequencies. They have already launched scouting vessels through 5 of the Jump Holes and are

due to report back on their Mother Ship shortly. We are to meet them there in 1 hour to

discuss the findings and the way forward. I suggest you eat then meet back here in 50.

    Dismissed.

Everyone left the docking bay to go to the mess hall. The Osiris chef

was serving synth paste with a synth paste garnish.

    After everyone had finished

eating, they met with Orillion, Sinclair and Quintaine in the Docking bay. There was an

    Order transport waiting for them.

Lets go. Said Orillion. They are waiting for

    us

Everyone got on board the Transport. The Osiris was only a 1000k from the Dom

    Kavash mother ship.

The huge docking bay doors opened and the Transport glided in

gently and set itself down in the docking bay. Halaponmelep was waiting.

    Thank

you for coming he said as Orillion came out of the Transport. The scouts are waiting in

    tactical. Please, follow me.

Trent was familiar with the surroundings of the Dom

Kavash vessel. This time, he wasnt there as a stranger.

    Much like his first

visit, there was a long walk to tactical.

They entered tactical where the 5 Dom

Kavash scouts were waiting. The Dom Kavash had seats waiting for the Order

    members.

    Please sit said Halaponmelep.

He turned to the 5 scouts.

    Please report your findings

Each of the scouts described what they had seen.

Nomad fleets had begun a huge build up in two of the five systems. In the other 3, Nomad

scouts had been found patrolling the systems. No Nomad structures had been found. Halap

spoke to them in Kavashian and the scouts left tactical.

    He looked at Orillion.

What do you suggest? He asked.

It is a big concern that Nomad fleets are

amassing in two of the systems. What is more concerning is where they are coming from.

Replied Orillion. Have the other scouts begun their searches?

    Yes. They are

    due back shortly

No more than 30 minutes passed for the return of 5 of the

scouts. They entered tactical and spoke of much the same. Nomad scouts were patrolling the

    systems they had visited.

Any reports on the other two scouts? asked

    Hakkera.

    No. They were due back

Suddenly, one of the Dom Kavash

crewmembers came barging in through tactical. He looked afraid.

    Halap, we have

word the one of the scouts has been destroyed. The other is heavily damaged and is coming

    back now.

    What happened? asked Halap.

    Unknown

    Very

well. Thank you. Replied Halap. We shall meet the survivor in the docking

    bay

Everyone got out to leave and they made their way to the docking bay. The

Dom Kavash scout ship was badly damaged.

    Report scout Shouted

    Halap.

Cloaking device failed. Nomad Shipyard. Nomad City. Hundreds of

    Nomads.

The scout had come from the Jump Hole King and Von Claussen had been

    investigating.

What happened to the other scout? asked Trent.

Nomad Scouts in an adjoining system. Cloaking device failure,

    Well it looks

like we now know our target. I will ask for reinforcement from the houses. Said Orillion.

Good. As promised, we shall give you our weapons technology. It will be a

fine addition to your ships. We shall prepare our attack forces throughout the system. I

suggest you bring your ships here so we can modify them. Go back to yours and contact your

species. We will meet here when you are ready to plan our attack said

    Halap.

Orillion boarded the Transport and made his way back to the Osiris.

Everyone else remained on the Dom Kavash mother ship.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----
    Chapter 13 - Revelations

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Orillion landed safely back on the Osiris and made his way to Communications.

Liberty was too far away for him to make direct contact with President Jacobi,

but with Hathor back in friendly space on the other side of the Hyper Gate, he could relay

the message to Liberty and the other 4 houses.

    Research Base Hathor, this is

    Orillion, please come in

    Research Base Hathor here sir

    Get word to

the 5 houses, Nomad threat serious, request immediate reinforcements

    Yes

    sir

Orillion left communications. He hoped that the houses could rally enough

    forces quickly to help them.

Meanwhile, on the Dom Kavash Mother ship, Trent,

Juni, Hakkera, Von Claussen, Sinclair and Quintaine were being given a guided tour by

    Halap.

Wow, this place is amazing. In all the years I have been studying you and

your artefacts, I never expected your ship to be like this exclaimed

    Sinclair.

Thank you. It took many years to create what we have here replied

    Halap.

They made their way to the ships bridge.

    Halap turned to

    Trent.

We never thanked you for helping us. It will no doubt be a great day for

both our species when the time comes to end the plague that is the Nomads

    Trent

nodded in acceptance of Halap's thank you.

When we conducted scans of this

system, we found a large debris field not far from the hyper gate. Can you tell us what it

is or what it was? asked Quintaine as he passed Halap the data console he had been carrying

    with him.

Halap looked at the console. It was one of our outposts. After the

activation of the hyper gate system, we constructed it as a research base

    What

were you researching? asked Sinclair curiously.

Maybe now is the time that we

told you the whole truth about exactly what we are up against. Your leader should come on

    board

Orillion was contacted on the Osiris and he made his way to the Dom Kavash

mother ship. He met with the others on the bridge.

    Whats all this about? asked

    Orillion.

Trent filled Orillion in on what had lead to him being summoned to the

    mother ship.

When our species first passed through the hyper gate in to this

system, we began our research in to creating a species to protect our home that we were

    leaving. explained Halap.

    The Nomads said Orillion.

    Yes. Replied

Halap. As you know, our research was a success. We had created an aggressive alien species

capable of successfully defending our home. What ensued from our research was catastrophic.

The Nomads were able to adapt to any situation, any technology and live in the most hostile

of atmospheres. We quickly began to lose control. What ensued was a war that had all but

eradicated our peaceful species. Unable to cope with the relentless attacks of the Nomads,

we fled our home in hope of survival and we passed through the hyper gate system, locking it

    behind us

What was being researched at your base Halap asked

    Orillion.

In the hope of re colonizing our home, we knew we couldnt destroy the

Nomads. Research begun on creating a more evolved and even more aggressive strand of Nomad

DNA, a species which we would have control over, that could help us re take our home. Not

learning from our previous mistakes the new Nomad strain attacked us once more. Knowing that

we actually had more numbers than they had, due to the early research of the new strain,

they fled. That was 200 years ago and they have multiplied. We destroyed the research base,

forever condemning our evil research. Un aware that your species had colonized our home,

when you activated the Hyper Gate system, the Nomad fighters passed through here. The

fighters that we have encountered so far are the remainders of the ones you sent through two

years ago, our original creation. We have yet to encounter the more advanced

    strain

This just gets better and better said Trent. You told me that years of

exploration had caused you numbers to lower!

Once we had met you, we knew your

species aggression, and your victory over the Nomads two years ago, would be able to help us

in destroying our creations. If we told you there was a more advanced strain, we thought you

    wouldnt help us

Damn straight we wouldnt help you! shouted

    Trent.

Colonel Trent! said Orillion. This is not the time to get

    angry

    Trent calmed down.

How serious is this threat? asked

    Orillion

Very replied Halap. The second Nomad strain was created for the sole

purpose of re claiming our home.

Are they the ones who have set up home beyond

    the Jump Hole?

Halap paused for a moment and looked at the floor

    shamefully.

    Yes

There were groans and disrepute among The Order

members Hakkera, Trent, Von Claussen, Juni, King, Sinclair and Quintaine.

    Ok

settle down people. I think we need to update the colonies as to the situation we have here

said Orillion. I will head back to the Osiris and contact Hathor. It will be a few days

before the House militaries can mobilize their forces. Halap, I want you and your engineers

to begin updating our weapon and shield technologies. Everyone else is to return to the

    Osiris with me.

Everyone left the bridge and made their way to the Osiris

    transport.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    ------------------
    Chapter 14 - The Armada

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once more the transport landed safely on the Osiris.

    Ok people, we will meet

on the bridge in 5. I will send a communication to Hathor

    Orillion made his way

to communications while Trent, Juni, King, Von Claussen, Hakkera, Sinclair and Quintaine

made their way to the bridge.

    Orillion joined them shortly after.

    The

Hispanic fleet is already on the other side of the hyper gate. We have word that Rheinland

has refused use of its ships. Bretonia, Liberty and Kusari vessels are en route and will

meet up with the Hispanic fleet tomorrow

    Why have Rheinland refused ships?

    asked Von Claussen.

We destroyed much of the Rheinland military 2 years ago and

they do not have the forces they once had.

Do we know how many ships are due to

rendezvous in the Dyson Sphere? asked Juni.

    Unknown Colonel Zane. The houses

will probably send a huge bulk of their forces to help us. We also have reinforcements

coming from Toledo replied Orillion. The next few days are going to be rough. I suggest

you all get some rest. We must be ready to welcome the fleets by

    1000hrs.

Orillion left the bridge and made his back to his

    quarters.

Everyone else made their way to the Osiris bar. Cobo and Kress were

already sitting down with drinks. Trent ordered a round a brought them to the

    table.

See Trent. I told you we shouldnt have come said King.

    Trent

looked down at his glass. For the first time in his life, he didnt want to drink his

    Sidewinder Fang.

What do you think our chances are of surviving this? Cobo

    asked Trent.

Slim replied Trent glumly. We stood a good chance against the

Nomads we had already won against. But with another form of Nomad, one we havent seen, who

    knows.

There was very little talk at the table. Every bodies minds where on the

    days ahead.

Juni and Trent were the first to leave. They made their way back to

Trents quarters and sat down on his bed.

I want to stay with you tonight Trent

said Juni. Her concerns for what was coming were clearly evident. Trent gave her

    hug.

When this is over, Ill take you to Hawaii in Sigma 19 whispered Trent.

It was unlike Juni to be this afraid. Trent wouldnt deny he felt the same.

Trents neural net alarm woke him at 0830hrs. He could already here the

movement of Order personnel outside his quarters. Juni was already awake.

    Are

    you ok? asked Trent.

I couldnt sleep. You should get ready. Ive already

spoken to Orillion. He wants us on the bridge at 0900hrs.

    Trent threw his stuff

together and was ready in 20 minutes. Before they left Trent kissed Juni. He had been

thinking about it. He was more afraid of losing Juni than he was dying.

    They made

their way together to the bridge of the Osiris. Orillion was waiting.

    Trent,

Juni, thank you for coming. I have a special assignment for the two of you said

    Orillion.

    What is it? asked Trent.

    As The Orders two most

experienced pilots, I want you two to welcome the fleet.

    Sounds good said

    Trent.

Youll be accompanied by Halap and 2 of his escorts. I will also be

sending Cobo and Kress to go with you. I already have word that the fleet has remodulated

their shields for hyper gate travel and they will be awaiting you clearance to jump. You are

to leave immediately. Halap is waiting for you in the docking bay. Good

    luck

Trent and Juni made their way to the docking. Sure enough Halap and two of

his escorts were waiting. Cobo and Kress were already in space

    Shall we

    proceed? said Halap.

Yes replied Trent. He still wasnt happy at being lied to

    by Halap.

Trent and Junis Anubiss were waiting on the docking bay

    pad.

We have made the required modifications to your ships. We have had to

modify our own weapons to make them more useful. Their rate of fire is far more efficient

than your current weapon load out. We have also increased your shield integrity and modified

our ships with your communications technology.

    Thank you Halap said

    Juni.

Trent, Juni Halap and his escorts launched into space.

    We

thought you had bugged out! said Kress over the comms.

    No chance Colonel!

    replied Trent.

Everyone, enter formation, we a fleet to meet said

    Juni.

They engaged cruise speed and made it to the hyper gate entrance without a

glitch. Trent was gagging to try his new weapons.

    This is Order pilot Colonel

Trent. Your are clear for safe passage fleet

The hyper gate came to life. What

passed through amazed Trent, Juni, Cobo and Kress.

My god said Juni over the

private comms to Trent. It looks the entire Liberty fleet!

    10 Liberty

Battleships passed through the hyper gate. 25 Cruisers and over 100 Defenders and Patriots

    accompanied them.

Colonel Trent. This is Liberty Navy Battleship Washington

Captain OHara speaking. Our forces have successfully jumped through the hyper gate. The

Kusari, Bretonian and Hispanic fleets are waiting on the other side

    Its good to

see you over here Washington. Your help will certainly be needed replied

    Trent.

The Liberty Navy cleared the Hyper Gate as it came alive as the Kusari

    fleet passed through.

Wow, it looks the houses have taken this threat very

    seriously said Juni.

5 Kusari Battleships, 30 gunboats, 50 Drakes and 30 Dragons

passed through in to the Hyper Gate system.

Next was the Hispanic fleet. It was

comprised of the best veteran pilots the Corsairs and Outcasts could send through. 30

Daggers, 30 Sabres, 40 Centurions and 20 Titans.

    Finally the Bretonian Armed

    Forces.

Bretonia had sent through the bulk of their Navy. Much like Liberty. 15

Bretonian Battleships, 50 Crusaders and 20 Cavaliers. Trent knew one of the battleships.

Before long the captain of the Battleship Hood came over Trents comm.

    Ah

Bretonian. To yella to come back and race your old pal eh? Said Captain Dexter

    Hovis.

Hovis!? How the hell did you get into the Bretonian Navy? replied

    Trent.

Im not. Me and the boys thought wed tag along for a while. We have the

Nomads at 100/1 outsiders in this one. I have someone here that would like to talk to

    you

    Who? asked Trent.

Its good to see you boy! said

    Tobias.

Meeting Hovis and Tobias had knocked Trent back a little.

Tobias! What are you doing on the Hood! asked Trent.

    An old man

needs to keep himself occupied Trent

I thought the Hood was no longer

    operational said Trent.

It wasnt. We struck gold. Literally and we carried out

    the repairs ourselves said Hovis.

Well, Im impressed. You certainly did a

    great job

    Thank you Bretonian replied Hovis.

    Trent got over the

group communications so he could talk with all the ships.

    Sirius Fleet, this is

Colonel Trent. For centuries, mankind has battled against all the odds that have been placed

in front us. Today, we will be faced with the odds once more. But like all the challenges

that have befallen us before, none of them ever claimed a victory over the shear

determination and resilience of the human race. Our victory over the Nomads will just be

    another chapter in mankinds history

Loud cheers could be heard over the

    communications.

That was a bit much wouldnt you say? said Juni jokingly. The

shear size of the Sirius fleet that had passed through lifted the dread she had been

    feeling.

If I die, then every hero needs to be remembered by his battle speech!

    said Trent sarcastically.

    Oh brother! laughed Juni.

    They plotted a

    course back to the Osiris.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----
Chapter 15 - Acts of Courage

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sir, we have them on scanner range. It looks like the whole of Sirius is here said one

    of The Order lieutenants.

    Good replied Orillion.

    Osiris, this is

    Colonel Trent, requesting clearance

Colonel Trent, this is The Osiris, your

    are cleared to dock

Trent docked followed by Juni, Kress, Cobo and Halap.

Halaps escorts returned to the mother ship.

Juni, Trent welcome back. Come on

we have work to do said Orillion.

Hakkera, Von Claussen and King were waiting on

the bridge as Orillion, Juni and Trent made their way through.

    Lieutenant said

Orillion looking at one of the ships engineers. Start her up!

    The engineer

switched on the group communications so that everyone in the fleet could listen

    in.

Ok people. You are all about to be filled in on the situation we have here

and I will keep it brief. First off, I am Casper Orillion the commander of this operation.

Our plan is simple. We will fly through the Jump gate that is being loaded in to your neural

nets now, and engage the Nomads with the full force of our forces. They will not take

prisoners, and neither will we. We know there could be hundreds of Nomads on the other side.

Our target is Nomad City. Our mission is complete when all hostile forces have been

eradicated and the Nomad City is no more than space particles. Thats it. Good luck to all

    of you. Orillion out

    Short and sweet said Trent.

    Our only goal is

to put the Nomads on the extinct list colonel replied Orillion.

    The engineer at

the communications station came over and interrupted Orillion.

    Sir, the Dom

Kavash Mother Ship has just contacted us. Modifications to our Anubiss have been completed

    said the engineer.

Good. Lets get down to the docking bay. Well take the

    transport to the mother ship

Your coming with us? asked Juni.

    Yes

Colonel replied Orillion. Were going to need every last man for this

    Everyone

made their way to the transport in the docking bay. The bay doors opened and the transport

    flew out cleanly.

Wow. Look at them all! said King referring to the Sirius

    fleet.

Its remarkable isnt it. Only 2 years we were on the brink of

destruction. Now its our turn to take the war to the Nomads said Hakkera.

    The

transport docked on the Dom Kavash mother ship.

    Welcome back said Halap. Let

    me show you our work

Halap led everyone over to the segregated landing pad. The

    eight Anubiss were gleaming.

    These look fantastic said Juni.

    Yes.

We have completed the shield remodulation, weapon firing rates, and the hull armour. We are

especially proud of the armour replied Halap.

It looks like the hull of this

    ship said Trent.

The hull of our mother ship is strong. We made some slight

changes to it to make it extra light, so you didnt lose the

    manouvourability

They look great Halap. Thank you for you and your peoples

    work

    Our pleasure replied Halap.

    Orillion turned to face his

    comrades.

Watch yourselves out there. I want you all back

    alive

    Everybody nodded.

Lets go and do this. Halap, well see you

    out there

Everyone made their way to their ships. Halap and 20 Dom Kavash

fighters made their way to theirs.

The docking bay door on the mother ship opened

and the final swarm of the Sirius fleet entered space.

    The Osiris and the Dom

Kavash mother ship remained in neutral space.

    Be careful Trent said Juni

worryingly over the private communications. I dont know what Id do if anything thing

    happened to you out there

Dont worry. Well be fine. Besides, I promised Id

take you to Hawaii didnt I? said Trent reassuringly.

    Yes said Juni while

    smiling gently.

    I dont break promises

    Thank you whispered

    Juni.

Orillion came over the communications channel.

    Ok everyone,

this is it. The jump hole is not far from here. Lets go

    Everyone engaged cruise

speed and headed for the jump hole.

It was only 4k away and fleet arrived in a

    few seconds.

This is it people. Prepare for heavy resistance when we clear the

    jump hole

Each house fleet cleared the jump hole and entered the Nomad

    system.

It was certainly not what the fleet had intended to see. A thick particle

cloud had sensor efficiency down to a minimal, along with visibility.

    What is

this!? shouted Trent. Could intel be wrong?

    Were flying blind here people.

Be on full alert said Orillion. Head straight through the particle cloud

    The

fleet gradually advanced through the particle cloud and it started to

    thin.

    Sensor efficiency restored

    Look familiar Trent? said King

    over a private communication.

Through the clearing of the particle cloud was the

sight every Order pilot had seen before. A dyson sphere. The Nomad city was nowhere to be

    seen.

No Nomad vessels in scanner range. What is going on? said

    Trent.

I dont know but I sure as hell dont like the looks of.

    A

huge explosion cut off Kings reply.

    This is Battleship Wash.on,

    whahul..rea.h, losi.wer

Another explosion rocked the Washington tearing it

    in half.

    My god! gasped Orillion.

    Every scanner went haywire as

hundreds of red Nomad vessels decloacked all around them. The Nomad city also showed up on

    scanner range, 12k away.

EVERY ONE, BREAK AND ATTACK!! shouted

    Orillion.

The unfamiliar red glow of the Nomads had taken everyone by surprise.

The aggression and power of the advanced nomad strain was

    incomparable.

    Shields.fa..li!..!

    Another battleship, this time

Kusari, went up in a ball of fire.

Panic spread through the fleet. A few of the

Hispanic daggers turned and fled only to be met by decloaking Nomad vessels.

    The

Nomad fighters were plentiful and their armour strong. Their missiles had the strength of

medium sized asteroids and they tore apart 2 of the Liberty Cruisers.

    Theyre

    tearing us apart! shouted King.

King watch out! shouted Trent. Nomad on your

    tail!

Trent opened fire on the Interceptor tailing King; the modified Dom Kavash

weapons tore the ship in half.

Ha ha. King these weapons are great! laughed

    Trent.

Space was lit up by weapons fire.

    The order pilots opened up

firing every weapon available to them. Their accurate fire destroyed many Nomad

    vessels.

Two more explosions emanated close by. Two Bretonian battleships had

    been destroyed by Nomad fire.

Hovis, this is Trent, are you and Tobias

    ok?

Bretonian, Hovis here. The Hoods sustaining the Nomad fire. We scrambled

dagger light fighters with the best IMG and race pilots to protect us. No casualties so

    far.

Good replied Trent. The safety of Jun and Tobias were Trents main

    priorities.

The Hispanic VHFs were holding their own. The years of conflict

between themselves and their enemies was paying off.

    The other house fighters

were fighting bravely. Liberty however had lost many of their smaller ships, and the

sustained Nomad fire was gradually wearing down Bretonian and Kusari

    fighters.

Trent, I am picking up multiple inbound ships. They are coming through

the particle cloud. The clouds interfering with my scans and stopping me from identifying

    them said Von Claussen.

Sirius fleet, this is Captain Schloffer of the

Rheinland Battleship Westfahlen. We have come to pay our old friends and visit

    A

small attack force consisting of the Westfahlen and 15 Valkyries had come through the jump

    hole.

The Rheinland force had lost a few ships through the particle

    cloud.

Its good to see you Westfahlen. Rheinland forces are very welcome here

    said Trent.

The Valkyries engaged the closest nomad vessel.

    The

aggression and vengefulness that fuelled the Rhinelanders made them more than a match for

the Nomads. The sight of his brethren had brought a newfound aggression out of Herr Von

    Claussen.

Many of the smaller Sirius fighters were losing ground as more Nomad

    ships decloaked.

With all the excitement of the arriving Rheinland fleet, no had

noticed the Dom Kavash vessels fly back towards the jump hole.

    Sir said Juni.

They are getting constant reinforcements and our forces are getting

    smaller

More explosions followed as a further two Kusari battleships were

    destroyed.

Sirius fleet, scramble all reserve craft, we.

    Orillion

    communication was cut off.

Human forces, this is Halap of the Dom Kavash.

    Disengage and return home!

The Dom Kavash mother ship had come through the Jump

    Hole.

The size if the ship drew the attention of the Nomads as many of them

    turned to fire on it.

Halap, what are you doing? shouted

    Orillion.

This is our mess human. We should never have you got involved in this.

    Disengage and return home

Were not going anywhere Halap. You know that! said

    Trent.

We are sorry we lied to you Trent. But WE must be the cure to our

    disease replied Halap.

What are you talking about! said

    Orillion.

We will end this. There are two hundred escape pods filled with our

youngest being taken on to your ship. We have given them our memories so that they learn

from our mistakes. Promise us you will allow them to live along side you in

    peace

Further explosions shook space. The Sirius fleet was not going to be able

to withstand the Nomad attacks for too much longer.

    The Dom Kavash powered up

    their cruise engines.

We have set a course for Nomad City. Our power core

explosion will be enough to eradicate this system. Leave now or you will all be

    destroyed

Orillion knew that this might be the only chance they had to destroy

the Nomads. He was under no illusions that the fleet was taking casualties.

    No

    we wont allo.

    Orillion cut off Trent.

Trent, we must let them do

this said Orillion over the private channel. He then activated the group channel. Sirius

fleet, we are to disengage and return to the Osiris. Jump hole co-ordinates are being

uploaded in to your neural nets now

We cant let them do this! shouted

    Juni.

This may be our only opportunity to destroy the Nomads

    Juni

    Yes sir replied Juni.

Halap. We wont forget the kindness

your people showed us. Thank you said Orillion.

Thank you human. Take care of

our people. No please, get your forces out of here. We will miss youfriends

The Dom Kavash mother ship cut all communications and their cruise engines fired

    up.

Ok people, you heard the man, pull back! said Orillion

    The

Sirius fleet engaged their engines and made a retreat to the jump hole. The Nomads that had

    stayed to fight them pursued.

Trent stopped at the entrance to the particle cloud

and watched the Dom Kavash mother ship heading for the Nomad City.

    Goodbye

whispered Trent. He felt a little choked by the Dom Kavash bravery.

    Trent this

is no time for sight seeing. Come on!! screamed Juni who had noticed that Trent had

    stopped.

Trent turned his craft and entered formation with Juni as they headed

    through the particle cloud.

The fleet ahead of them stated to scramble through

the jump hole. The remaining Battleships providing cover fire from the nomad ships that had

    pursued.

The fleet cleared the jump hole and a few of the Nomads who had evaded

the Battleship fire jumped through the hole. Juni and Trent were they last to make

    it.

Your time has come said Trent to himself.

    They both heard the

huge explosion as Halap flew the mother in to the Nomad city.

    Come on, lets

    go

Trent and Juni flew through the jump just in time.

    As they cleared

the hole, the fleet was mopping up the Nomad fighters who had passed through with them and

the jump hole closed behind them.

A resounding cheer went out throughout the

remaining ships when the last interceptor was destroyed.

    Phew. That was way to

close said Trent over the private comms to Juni.

    Looks like well be spending

that long vacation on Hawaii after all! replied Juni.

    Trent laughed down the

    communications.

They could relax now the Nomad threat had

    gone.

Everyone, set a course for the Osiris, we will celebrate this great

    victory on board

The fleet set a course of the Osiris.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----
Chapter 16 - To Fallen Herous

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transports left the remaining battleships to dock with the Osiris.

    On the

deck there were celebrations. Champagne had been opened as everyone drank to the victory.

Orillion started to tap his glass until everyone was quiet.

    Today is

a great day for us and for Sirius. Today, we are all heroes!

    Loud cheers echoed

through the Osiris. Orillion got everybody quiet again.

    To our fallen comrades,

who fought bravely for their house, for Sirius, and for our right to

    live!

Everyone raised their glasses then lowered them

    Orillion

    continued.

Finally, the bravery that we have witnessed here today will be

remembered in the annals of human history. Our first contact with a friendly alien species.

A species that helped us to eradicate our common enemy. May those brave warriors forever be

in our thoughts. To Halap, and the Dom Kavash who sacrificed their own lives, to save ours!

Orillion raised his glass. Everyone else followed.

    Lets celebrate! shouted

    Orillion.

The deck of the Osiris broke out in a roar of cheers.

    The

party continued long in to the night with the Osiris bar drink supply being hit

    heavily.

King, Trent, Juni, Herr Von Claussen, Lord Hakkera and Tobias were all

sitting down on a table in the Osiris bar.

So what now? Looks like were all

    unemployed! said King jokingly.

    The table laughed.

    Juni leant over in

    whispered in Trents ear.

I know whats now she said cheekily.

    Trent

    grinned.

Oh do you now! he replied.

    Hey! said King. Whats

    funny?

Everyone else at the table knew something was going on with Trent and

    Juni.

Oh King. So innocent! said Juni laughing as her and Trent got up to leave

    the table.

What? replied King genuinely confused about what was going

    on.

Orillion came walking over before Trent and Juni could

    leave.

    Hey, Orillion said Trent.

    Colonel Trent replied Orillion

nodding. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you all for helping The

    Order protect Sirius

What are you going to do now? asked

    Trent.

Take a long vacation. I have a friend who works for Spa and Cruise who

can get me cheap tickets for any of their cruises

Juni and Trent looked at each

    other and smiled.

What about The Order? asked Von Claussen.

    It will

still be here. You never know when an alien race is going to show up! replied Orillion

    laughing.

Where is the Osiris going from here asked Hakkera.

    Back

to Hathor. And we still have our Dom Kavash friends to take care of. They have requested

Sprague to be their new home. I intend to make sure that they get it

    Well Said

Trent. It has been a very long day. Now if youll excuse us, we are going to our

    quarters

See you in the morning Trent. You too Juni shouted

    King.

    Hey, are those two

    YES KING!!

    Chapter 1

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cadet Valerie Adriano lay on her bed, unable to sleep, staring at the remarkably

featureless ceiling of her cabin. West point military academy was, in her opinion, a truly

remarkable and inspiring place, but it was about as impressive to look at as the cargo hold

of an ALG Waste disposal freighter. What was inspiring, were the tales and recordings of

previous battles and acts of courage and bravery which she was determined to emulate, no

matter how corny it sounded when she said it to herself. Her thoughts then returned to the

reason why she was unable to sleep; graduation was coming, but before it came, The Trial

as it was affectionately called by many a sadistic instructor had to be completed. This

ritual involved every cadet in their final year being given a Patriot class light fighter

and set loose into the Badlands to kill a Liberty Rogue or two, thus, theoretically,

preparing them for anything which the future held. Unfortunately, there was always the

possibility that a Liberty Rogue would kill a cadet or two, despite the fact that the cadets

from West Point had received the best training from the best instructors in Sirius, and the

Liberty Rogues were infamous for their pitiful flying abilities. Screw this, she said to

herself, if I cant sleep Ill wander, maybe Ill wear myself out or something. Valeries

thoughts were silenced by the blinding effects of her cabins lights on her eyes as she

flicked her light switch. Shielding her eyes with one hand, she searched the floor for her

clothes with the other. Her eyes adapted to the light quickly enough and the search became

much simpler, once she was dressed, she switched off her lights and went forth into the

    corridors of the academy.

The corridor was, as usual, deserted, due to the

late hour, as was the lift which went to the bar. Valerie found that this made a refreshing

change from the ten or so cadets who were usually crammed into the elevator with her. There

were a large number of nervous, sleepless cadets in the bar. This was hardly a surprise. Her

and her classmates had been worrying about the Trial for weeks, and since it was scheduled

for tomorrow, it was no surprise that no one could sleep. Hey Valerie, over here! Boomed a

voice from the far side of the room. Valerie turned her head to see the weary, smiling faces

of her friends Eliza Peters and Mathias Cavallo. Valerie quickly stepped across the room and

took a seat at the secluded table which her friends had chosen, morbidly, they had chosen a

table which gave them a faint, yet unmistakable view of the Badlands, in which their prey,

as opposed to their killers hopefully waited. Couldnt sleep either? came the rhetorical,

conversation starting question from Eliza. Can anyone? Valerie replied whilst indicating

to the other cadets in the room. Sure, Mathias began with a hint of loathing in his voice,

surely youve heard the boastings of the overconfident, Greater then thou types. Im sure

theyre all fast asleep, having wet dreams of effortless victory. The sad thing is, Eliza

said with the same loathing that Mathias had used, theyve proclaimed their own greatness

so much its gone to their heads. Well, I guess the best thing we can do is put up with it

until a few dents in their hull prove to them that theyre mere humans after all. Valerie

added Or we can go one better and hope for a malfunction in their life support systems

said Mathias with a slight grin. Grim laughter met this statement, as did more yawning.

Eventually, the trios fear gave way to their fatigue and they soon returned to their

    cabins.

Morning came and Valeries eyes shot open as she heard the ever

annoying shrill of her alarm clock. Not wanting to be late for her hunting trip, she quickly

donned her uniform and went forth into the corridor which was full of excited and nervous

cadets. Everyone tried to look calmer then they actually felt and most failed miserably. In

groups of twos, threes and fours the cadets entered the main briefing room, which was

usually used for simulated missions, and took a seat. Valerie was soon joined by Eliza who,

whilst struggling to keep a lid on her fear, was also vehemently guarding the seat next to

her in anticipation of Mathias arrival. Neither she nor Valerie said anything to each

other; they simply smiled and wrestled their own fear. It was the same with Mathias when he

arrived. Fear was easy to spot on the faces of most cadets, even the Greater then thou

types were revealing signs of worry under their cocky facial expressions. Eliza switched

randomly from one random thought to another in an attempt to distract herself from her

training mission, as it was officially known. One thing or another however always sent her

mind back to the trial. Valeries brain was frantically trying to remember bits and pieces

of advice and information from previous combat training lessons and simulations. It was the

same technique that she had used to prepare for High school tests in the minutes before they

began. This was bound to be harder then a Liberty history test however. The room fell silent

at the arrival of Admiral Walter Evans, the current academy commandant; he was a tall man

with greyish hair and a stare that could send shivers up and down your spine for a week.

That same stare was responsible for silencing the last few tenacious talkers.

    Good

morning cadets, he began, graduation is in sight, but as you know there is one final

obstacle you must overcome before you earn your rightful places in the Liberty Navy. Im

sure that many of you are nervous, I did too when it was my turn, just remember, you have

received the best and most thorough training you can hope to receive in Sirius, just keep

your wits about you, and youll be fine As the Admiral continued his motivational

speaking, Valerie tried to reassure herself by remembering some of her simulated battles

against Liberty Rogues and Outcasts that had been shuttled to West Point from Huntsville and

Sugar land. The purpose of this was to provide a realistic combat experience. Valerie had

beaten the shit out of every criminal she had fought in the simulator. However, they were

all out of practice, and the fact that you cant die in a simulator has a habit of removing

the fear of death from a combat situation, which robs it of some of its realism. Well,

thats pretty much all I have to say. Captain Findley will now brief you on the mission

specifics. Her attention returned to Evans as he took a seat at the left hand corner of the

room. Part of her felt slightly guilty for ignoring the Admirals speech, but this was

quickly expelled as Captain Jason Findley activated the briefing rooms display screen. As

the images on the screen appeared, so did Valeries fear about the upcoming trial.

Good morning cadets, Findley began, after we launch well be taking the old trade

lane to Ithaca research station. The mention of the word Ithaca caused the screen to zoom

in on an image of the dead, twisted mass of metal that was once Ithaca research station.

Each wing shall consist of three cadets and one of the combat veterans which weve

gathered. Specific flight group assignments will be displayed on the screen after the

briefing is over Sighs of relief met this sentence. The idea of having an experienced

combat veteran with them in the inevitable battle was much more preferable to the idea of a

handful of rookies trying their luck with the beasts of the badlands. There shall be 40

flight groups in total. Groups one to twenty shall launch at oh eight hundred hours, groups

21 to 40 shall launch at fifteen hundred hours. Each group will be given a specific,

circular, six point patrol route. Until every cadet in your group has torched at least one

criminal, you may not return to West Point. There were some cadets in the ranks who had

hoped to avoid the grisly task of killing anyone and just get through their patrol in one

piece; every one of them grimaced at this news. Listen to your flight leader, Finley

continued, and do exactly as they tell you if you want to survive. Your performance in this

exercise will strongly affect what posts you receive upon graduation, A grin found its way

onto the captains face, so dont screw up. Questions? Yes sir, squeaked Michelle

Simmons, a short, almost underweight cadet with a voice that was virtually ultrasound. More

then one cadet had been known to laugh when they heard it on the radio. Yes cadet. Im

aware that this is unlikely sir, but if we come across the rumoured Liberty Rogue base in

the badlands, what should we do? Isnt it obvious? Findley remained silent for a few

seconds, as if he was willing Simmons to answer his rhetorical question, if you do find the

Liberty Rogue base cadet, you are to follow your flight leader to a safe distance and wait

for the re-enforcements that he or she will call in. Once they arrive, you are to help keep

the fighters at bay whilst torpedo bombers torch the station to a grim memory of a

migraine. Yes sir. Simmons sat back down and Findley invited more questions, silence was

his response. Very well then, on behalf of myself, Admiral Evans, and the entire command

staff, I wish you all good luck and good hunting. Dismissed. The display screen flickered

suddenly and began to display a list of names, all of which were attached to a group of

four. Every cadet in the room charged at the screen, regardless of the fact that a huge

crowd would just make everything ten times more difficult then it needed to be. Valerie and

Mathias had the good fortune to be placed in the same group. Eliza however was placed in a

group with two people she hardly knew. Her group was commanded by Admiral Evans himself

however, this was immensely re-assuring. Admiral Walter Evans was one of the most decorated

officers of the Liberty navy, as well as a level 25 pilot. Valeries group was commanded by

Lieutenant Janet Carter, a disturbingly optimistic level 15 pilot. She wasnt the most awe

inspiring of West Points veteran collection, but she was no where near the worst either.

The third cadet in their group was Nathan Remington. He was a quiet person who spent most

off his time in his cabin. Originally, it was thought that

    this would make him a

target for bullies, when he broke the nose of the only person to ever insult him however,

opinions quickly changed. With the tension building within them, Valerie and Mathias walked

with the other cadets in the first twenty groups to the equipment room.

Fifteen minutes prior to launch, many cadets were on the flight deck conversing with

friends or receiving last minute instructions from their Wing leaders. Valerie was searching

the crowd for Mathias, whom she had lost in the sea of cadets. Excuse me! Shouted a voice

directly behind her, she turned to find an unfamiliar looking male staring at her. Are you

Valerie Andriano? The voice shouted over the noise of the crowd. Yes, replied Valerie

slowly, wondering who this stranger was, how he knew her name, and why he was talking to

her. Nathan Remington, he said with an obvious Bretonian accent whilst extending a hand,

I wanted to wish you and, uh, Mathew Crain I think, good luck before we launch. Oh,

Valerie replied whilst shaking the pre-offered hand, Thank you and good luck yourself, by

the way, its Mathias Cavallo, not Mathew Crain. I knew I got that wrong, I dont suppose

you know where he is do you? Havent a clue, Im looking for him myself actually. Oh

well, good hunting, if you see him; wish him well from me would you? With this, Nathan

Remington disappeared into the crowd. So that was Nathan Remington was it? Mathias half

shouted over Valeries left shoulder, making her jump. How long have you been there? She

asked irritably. Not long, came the devious response. Before he vanished, said Valerie

who was searching the crowd for Nathan, but to no avail, he wanted me to wish you luck.

Hes not at all what I expected. Let me guess, Mathias said, you expected a hissing,

snarling beast you lashes out with his mighty claws when spoken to. I doubt Id say it

with such eloquence, but yeah, thats more or less it. So does everyone. The sudden noise

from behind made Valerie jump again. Turning round, she saw that Nathan had re-appeared, and

seemed to be holding back the urge to laugh. As Mathias and Valerie started to mumble some

rushed apologies, he raised a hand.

Dont worry about it; the persona of a

snarling beast is the price I pay for clouting that arsehole in the kite, not that it wasnt

worth it mind you. There was a slight pause, am I right in assuming that you are Mathias

Cavallos then? Its Cavallo, and nice to meet you. Likewise, speaking of, wed better

get to our ships. The three began to walk towards their assigned fighters, Mathias and

Valerie received a momentary break from the fear by trying to figure out how walking to a

fighter could be connected with it being nice to meet someone. To Valeries surprise, Eliza

was waiting for her on the flight deck. Valerie had expected her to have sealed herself in

her cabin and bite her fingernails in anticipation of her own trial later today. But there

she was, staring at one of the Patriots as if inspecting it for dust. She appeared to be

close to tears, but his it well when she saw her and Mathias however. So, she began, Hmm

came Valeries equally insightful response. Yep, Mathias added. After a few uncomfortable

seconds, all three burst out laughing, which was closely followed by Eliza throwing her arms

around Valerie, thus restricting her breathing. Dont do anything stupid. She whispered

tearfully. Well be fine Eliza, Valerie replied, stop worrying about us and start

worrying about your own trial. Thanks, now I feel a lot better. Eliza said, trying to

force as much emphasis into her sarcasm as she could muster. She actually managed to laugh,

despite her own feelings of fear and concern. Mathias paced a hand on her shoulder after a

few seconds of silence and tried his hand at being reassuring. Besides, he said, these

are Liberty Rogues were talking about; weve got a better chance of being killed by a

toothbrush. Eliza spat out a small amount of laughter and released Valerie from her vice

like grip. Weve got to get going, said Valerie with traces of concern finding their way

into her voice, youll be alright wont you? Yeah, Eliza replied, feeling amused,

concerned and slightly embarrassed, I should be going too, good luck guys. Same to

    you.

Lieutenant Janet Carter was a short woman, and almost everything about

her from her piercing stare to her overly bony fingers portrayed the image of someone whod

happily ram those fingers in your eyes. Am I right in assuming that you three are Nathan

Remington, Valerie Andriano and Mathias Cavallo? She said. Yes maam. Came the

simultaneous response. Good, now youve already been given the appropriate information by

captain Findley, and our specific patrol route has been uploaded into our neural nets. Just

dont loose your heads and follow my orders with slave-like devotion, and well come home

just fine, and several criminals wont. Grim smiles were shared with all four members of

Group 14; it was unspeakably difficult to feel sympathy for the criminals that infested

the badlands, especially after hearing about some of the atrocities that they had committed,

which was an all too common feature on the Colony News network. Any final questions

before we set out? Carter asked, Nathan, Mathias and Valerie all remained silent. Good,

well then, lets go shall we? Valerie inhaled slowly and walked towards the disturbingly

large, light fighter that had been assigned to her. Here goes nothing were her thoughts as

    the canopy

    closed.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    -------
Chapter 2 - Out of the flight deck, into the fire

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group 14 this is West Point, you are cleared to launch, good flying. Valerie watched West

Point steadily grow smaller in her rear view display. She had no time to dwell on this

however, as the voice of Janet Carter suddenly kicked in over the radio.

    All right

cadets, form up on my four, six and eight and follow me to the trade lane. So far so good

thought Valerie after her first 10 seconds in space. She took a position directly behind

Carter and watched with growing tension as the trade lane, which would fling her into the

badlands at some unholy speed, grew ever closer. Initiate trade lane sequence, now! Carter

said over the radio. A flick of a switch was followed by group 14 flying down the bright,

shimmery cylinder of the usually inactive trade lane. Soon enough, the four arrived in the

badlands. The dark, stormy and God forsaken appearance of the place only seemed to add to

the fear that was felt by every cadet in the group had no shortage of to begin with.

Sensors show no enemy presence. Carter almost whispered. The quiet tone of her voice

forced Valerie and Mathias to wonder if she was talking more to herself then to them. Nathan

on the other hand had his eyes glued to his contact list, and didnt allow himself to

entertain such thoughts. Cadets, activate cruise engines and proceed to waypoint one. Mr.

Cavallo, you take point. Valerie watched as Mathias fighter overtook Carters and positioned

itself at the front of the group. She found that now she was in the badlands, much of her

nervousness had begun to give way to objectiveness. Despite this, part of her mind was

telling her that she would feel a lot better after she watched some Liberty Rogues explode.

    Enemy contacts detected!

Valeries head snapped round to face her contact list and

nerve shattering anticipation filled her after hearing Mathias message over the radio.

Before the enemy entered her sensor range however, Mathias started speaking

    again.

It looks like two Liberty Rogue Bloodhounds. Could be worse, she said

quietly to herself, that means two of us per

Bloodhound; theyre as good as dead.

Make that four. Mathias said. Thats not a problem, she began again, one ship apiece

and you outgun and outclass them. Make that twenty! Mathias virtually shrieked. Valerie

stared at her contact list, desperately hoping that this was all some sick joke on Mathias

part. The list simply confirmed his report however, and furthermore, she could see all

twenty sets of red brackets on her view-screen. Valeries mind froze; this wasnt supposed

to be happening. The Liberty Rogues were a motley collection of thugs who were supposed to

be easier to defeat then a pestiferous Los Angeles Cummings weed. For a very short moment,

she was reminded of the late captain Marcus Walkers warnings about underestimating the

enemy. This was the result of such a mistake. A momentary flash of pain passed through

    Valerie as she

    remembered her deceased mentor. This was quickly banished however;

this was no time to grieve. The truth of the situation was clear, and it was also heading

straight for her, and before fear had a chance to set in, Janet Carter was shouting new

orders over the radio. All ships, run! The word run triggered a reflex action in all of

the cadets and each of them re-activated their cruise engines and turned a very quick 180

degree turn. Repeat, to all Liberty Navy, Police and LSF ships, this is Lieutenant Janet

Carter; we are being pursued by a fleet of twenty Liberty Rogue fighters, requesting There

was some momentary static and then a different, deeper and almost terrifying voice emerged

    from the radio.

Did you honestly thing that we would simply bow to your

will and die? We know all about this trial of yours. What you dont seem to know however,

is that the badlands belong to the Liberty Rogues and the Outcasts; they are not your

personal hunting grounds. Your deaths and the deaths of those you brought with you will help

to prove this point to the rest of Sirius. Valerie stared at the image of the Liberty Rogue

on her HUD in sudden shock as she realised that this was the face of a man who was trying to

kill her. Four years of academy training however, and the anger she felt at being forced to

run by an enemy she had come to believe wholeheartedly was inferior, gave her the strength

to focus her mind on more important matters, such as running, and more running. Im picking

up a new group of signals. Mathias aid calmly, having seemingly recovered from the shock of

seeing 20 enemy fighters. This amazed Valerie for a few moments. Mathias was one of the most

emotional people she knew, for a few seconds, she remembered how he had once shouted at a

lifts call button for not working. Her mind snapped back to reality shortly after it had

left it however. Four Outcast daggers Mathias said in the same, eerily calm tone of voice.

All fighters follow me said Janet Carter as she veered to the right so as to avoid the

newcomers. The cadets followed suit shortly thereafter. This is Navy patrol Delta 13, the

sudden appearance of a friendly voice brought relief to Valerie that was surprisingly,

almost frighteningly strong, especially considering the fact that she wasnt out of the

metaphorical wood yet, we are en route to assist you. Well be there in five minutes, try

to hold them off. Two similar messages, one from West point group 7, and another from LSF

patrol Gamma 12, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Kendra Peterson arrived shortly

    after the first message, and a very different feeling began to swell inside of Valerie;

Bloodlust. Just a few more minutes, she told herself, just a few more minutes and well

be able to show these pathetic wankers that no part of Liberty space belongs to them. They

are just a minor annoyance wholl wither and die when

    our forces finally learn the

location of their base. After that, well hunt down the survivors one by one and, oh for the

love of, WAKE UP VALERIE! We dont have time for this!

    Such was the way of

most of Valeries present thoughts. It was hard to focus when all she wanted to do was watch

as her lasers tore into a pirates fighter. She only had to run for a few more minutes, but

those minutes were filled with fear, anger and an overpowering desire for vengeance, and

because of this, they were agonisingly long. This is Navy patrol delta 13, engaging enemy.

West Point group 7, ready to assist. This is LSF patrol Gamma 12, engaging hostiles.

This is freelancer Edison Trent, Im here to help. Acknowledged, good to see you, came

the jubilant response from Janet Carter, Cadets; take your pick. Valerie, Nathan and

Mathias broke formation almost instantly and followed the nine Navy Defenders, ten

patriots, and the one Eagle into the wall of Liberty Rogue ships. The usually dark and

lifeless badlands were lit up by the countless laser blasts. Valerie dodged the enemies

fire as best as she could by strafing left and right. The occasional hit damaged her shields

so pitifully that it barely registered on her shield health display. Valerie passed her

target and quickly swung round so as to position herself behind the slow, clumsy Bloodhound

that she had chosen as a target. The two advanced starbeams and the two lavablades which

constituted her ships weaponry, (with the exception of twenty five seeker mines,) were

    more

then sufficient for the task ahead of them. Her targets shields fell within a

matter of seconds. This was followed an instant later by the shock, joy and confussion that

accompanied Valeries first kill. The pirate simply exploded in the time it takes to blink.

The pilot didnt even have time to blink. Valerie was too shocked to move for a few moments,

a few hits to her shields quickly brought her back to reality however. Mathias could only

feel frustration. The damaged Outcast he was pursuing continued to evade his fire, he only

needed only one more good hit to destroy the pestiferous pirate, but this hit was proving to

be hard to achieve. Fortunately for him however, the pirates were mainly focusing their

efforts of the Defenders and Trents Eagle. This left him free to attack his target, and

the other friendly fighters free to destroy those who challenged them. Nathan was having a

fairly hard time evading yet another dagger that was firing at him.

    He was

trying every evasive manoeuvre he had been taught in an effort to loose his pursuer, but to

no avail. As things began to look their most grim, inspiration struck. Nathan cut his

engines and watched as the Outcast overtook him, quickly begging to veer to the left, but

not knowing that it was too late. Nathan opened fire, and the Outcasts fighter rocked as

one of its wings was torn off, closely followed by another, which was followed by a final

explosion that took out what was left of the ship. Nathan recovered from the shock of his

first kill by noticing that two Liberty Rogues had appeared behind him. As the battle

progressed, the pirates began to take steady losses, without even so much as a hull fracture

on the friendly vessels. Soon enough, the surviving six Bloodhounds began to retreat. So,

began Valerie, theyve finally come to their senses. Now this is as it should be. This is

Lieutenant Kendra Peterson, these Liberty Rogues might us lead us to their home base, all

fighters pursue. Valerie wasnt sure whether or not to feel exited or frightened. The first

wave of enemy vessels had gone down easily enough, despite having superior numbers. Logic

dictated however, that the Liberty Rogues and their friends the Outcasts would defend their

base with everything they had. In spite of her apprehensive feels however, Valerie activated

he cruise engines and followed the others in the direction of the fleeing pirates. Obviously

if they followed too closely, the enemy would just scatter so as to protect the location of

their base, or wherever it was that they were flying, hence they had to rely on a waypoint

which showed the enemies vector. Im getting something said one of the LSF officers

    suddenly.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ----
Chapter 3 - Test of character

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was a seemingly endless pause after the LSF officer had given his report,

Valeries eyes were glued to her contact list with almost religious zeal but she was too far

behind for her sensors to register anything. Her eyes were brought to the view screen when

she saw the ships at the front of the group come to an abrupt stop. After a moment of shock

she halted her own vessel and checked her contact list once again. What she saw was

impossible. A Liberty battleship, listed as the LNS Valiant was sitting just four kilometres

ahead of Valerie and the other ships. It was surrounded by forty Bloodhounds and five

Wolfhounds. What the hell is going on? Spoke a quiet voice over the radio. This is the

Liberty Rogue battleship Valiant. The voice that had appeared on the radio only seconds

after the question was filled with smugness, and what sounded like repressed laughter. You

stand no chance against us, lower your shields and prepare to be boarded, or, if you

    prefer,

fight us and die by the hands of your former ship. The radio fell silent for

a moment, after which it was buzzing with

    various, nervous questions. Howd the

Liberty Rogues get a battleship? Why werent we warned about this? What now? Shut up!

Kendra Petersons voice cut through the others like a knife, West point group 14 patriot

Alpha three, (Mathias ship), retreat to a safe distance and call for re-enforcements. When

youre certain that enough ships are on their way, join the fight, everyone else, lets get

    em.

Mathias fled the scene as the other fighters charged at the wall of

Liberty Rogue fighters that were already moving to intercept them. Mathias was furious that

he had been ordered to run whilst his friend was fighting for her life; it was all he could

do not to turn back round and fight. Lucky git whispered Valerie to herself as she saw

Mathias vessel fly away to safety. This thought was quickly banished however as the enemy

fighters entered firing range. She had a much harder time dodging the enemys fire this

time, as did everyone else. In spite of the odds however, the Navys technological edge

remained, and it was this that led to the early deaths of four enemy fighters. The Navy

vessels almost constantly had to dig into their supplies of shield batteries and nanobots.

For every enemy ship they destroyed, two more Liberty Rogues seemed to appear behind the

ship that had destroyed a pirate. Valerie tried as best as she could to block out the

chatter and screams that plagued the intercom, a single second of distraction could result

in a fiery end for her, hence she found herself unusually focused on her duties, until she

heard a familiar scream that almost stopped her heart. Janet Carter was dead. Valerie spent

a handful of seconds, which to her felt like hours, doing nothing except staring blankly at

the view screen; once again, it was a few hits on her shields that brought her back to

reality. Nathan was slightly better then Valerie at blocking out the voices

    remained

in blissful ignorance of Janet Carters death. His attention was focused on the battleship

that was steadily creeping into firing range, once it was close enough, things would get a

whole lot tougher. Come on Mathias. Valerie, having recovered as best as she could from

the shock of Carters death, was trying to destroy an unscathed bloodhound while at

    the

same time trying to dodge the two behind her that were firing at her. She had

used up her ships compliment of shield batteries and her supply of Nanobots was dwindling.

Her ship rocked as another round of lasers smashed into her hull, forcing her to abandon her

previous target. She was not so lucky as to loose her pursuers in the process however. She

    deployed the

three mines that she had left, and as they were harmlessly blown away,

Valerie watched as the impossible happened.

    The surviving Navy pilots

cheered over the radio as the guns of twenty-five Liberty Defenders tore at the Bloodhounds,

many of which were destroyed almost instantly, having already received battle damage. Others

fled to the Valiant for support. Valerie stared at her contact list with a mixture of

confussion and joy, unable to understand how so many ships had reached the badlands so

quickly, as the Valiant came into view however, she suddenly stopped caring. Now was the

time for vengeance. The remaining fighters burned and exploded as Navy fighters dropped in

behind them and fired. The Valiant did not have the firepower to defend itself against so

many torpedo carrying vessels, and as the last of the Liberty Rogue fighters died, the

surviving 39 Liberty fighters opened fire on the battleship with everything they had. Gun

turrets and sections of the hull peeled away from the main body of the ship and incinerated.

As the fire from the Valiant became more sporadic, the bright blue explosions that signified

torpedo hits became a more and more frequent occurrence. Within minutes, the Valiant was

reduced to a crippled mass of metal. The voice of the Valliants captain re-appeared on the

radio, the smugness seemed to have given way to coughing, and there was no image on the HUD,

which suggested that the enemys communications were damaged. You know, it croaked, I

thought this might happen, call me a bad loser if you must but Ive set the ships

autodestruct to detonate, soon. Also, I made sure that the ships cargo holds were jammed

full of explosive gasses before we left, this ship was meant for a different role, but I

wont go into that Run! Shouted Kendra Peterson over the radio. Valerie was sceptical at

first, this seemed like a trick that would give the Valiant time to escape, but the results

of her cargo scan quickly changed her mind however. This is Ensign Jennifer Baird, my

cruise engines are damaged and I will be unable to escape the blast, good luck to all.

Valerie stared in sudden shock as the distance between her and Jennifer Bairds crippled

Defender steadily increased. This is Lieutenant Peterson, the battleship is going to

explode in a matter of seconds and we barely have enough time to escape the blast radius as

it is. Do not attempt to go back for Ensign Baird.

    Valerie knew that there

was nothing she could do, she even shouted it to herself, but she reversed her course

anyway. Valerie, what the hell are you doing? Screamed Mathias Get back into formation

cadet! Screamed Peterson. Im sorry Mathias, she replied, get clear with the others.

Before Mathias could say anything, Valerie shut down her radio and

    continued towards

the defender. Within seconds, she was within tractor beam range. Maam, eject and Ill

tractor you onboard. Are you crazy?! Get out of here cadet before Just do it! The fire

in Valeries voice, and the realisation that this was her best chance at survival, however

slight it may be, got Jennifer Baird moving, within seconds she was in an escape pod in

Valeries cargo hold. Valerie was able to fly for ten seconds before the Valiant exploded.

Shes waking up. Came a soft, yet at the same time exited voice, which Valerie recognised

as Elizas. Taking a few seconds to wake up properly, and

    realise where she was, she

began to ask questions. What A sharp pain in her side forced her to stop speaking. Easy,

youve got some pretty nasty injuries. That voice belonged to Mathias. What ha The same

    pain cut off Valerie again.

I think you mean what happened right? Nathan Remington

asked, suddenly appearing on Valeries right, well lets see, you saved the life of a naval

officer, disobeyed a direct order, got caught in the explosion of a commandeered battleship

of all things, are to be given the rank of Lieutenant after graduation and posted onboard

the battleship Missouri along with Mathias here, and finally, youre to be given the Lone

star for bravery, not bad mate. Valerie grunted in a mix of amazement, joy and pain that

came when she tried to move.

It was close, Mathias began, your ships so

badly fucked up that itll be lucky to avoid getting shoved in the Detroit Debris field. As

for yourself, well, I doubt I need say anything. Oh by the way, Jennifer Baird sends her

thanks, shell need a new arm but otherwise shell be fine. Good to hear, groaned

Valerie, how long am I gonna be stuck in the infirmary? Three of your ribs were

shattered, and you received a concussion. Not to mention some internal bleeding. Valerie

stared at Eliza in sudden panic, Dont worry, theyve fixed the worst of it. But it looks

like youll be stuck here for a week at least. Fucking hell, staring at these four walls

for a week is going to bore me to insanity. Nathan, who had disappeared from Valeries

sights for a reason that was known only to himself, spontaneously re-appeared in Valeries

line of vision. Youll be amused to hear, he began, that the LSF was able to dig up some

information on the Valiant. Apparently, it was decommissioned five years ago; the Liberty

Rogues found it, dragged it into the badlands and filled it with ancient parts and equipment

so that it was barely flyable. They were planning to fly it into Newark station before we

showed up. Valerie was silent for a few seconds, her semi-conscious mind was having a hard

time accepting the information that Nathan was spurting at a ridiculously fast speed, once

she realised what his message was, she spoke again. And now theyre dead. So, anything

interesting happen on your trial Eliza? Not really, the Liberty Rogues were somewhat

reluctant to show up after they got their arses kicked so thoroughly by you and the others.

Grins broke out on the faces of Valerie, Mathias and Nathan. The trial, as it would

appear, had succeeded in preparing them for whatever the future held. Well be back first

thing in the morning Valerie, Eliza said, placing her hand lightly on Valeries shoulder,

by the looks of things, you need your rest. Goodnight. Said Mathias, Sleep well.

Followed Nathan as the three walked to the door. Before Valerie fell asleep, her mind

conjured up one final thought, That was fun.

    The End

    Chapter 1

    • The noise of the cockpit is helping me stay awake. Its been a long flight this time toKyoto. Juni is there waiting for me. Im pleased she picked there to settle down on. Its remoteness gives us peace from troubles, while we can still jump to places to run missions for Orillion. This one just ran too long. Its been a week since I last saw her smile.
    • Bleep 1A1, we have you on our radar, welcome back Mr. Trent can the com traffic from the base. Its was so secluded from the trade routes, that little would
    • be heard over the com channels.
    • The big three part panel slid open and the auto pilot moved the ship inside. After the outer doors slid closed, the inner one opened to the world that was Kyoto. Impressive in all the Blood Dragons had built. A small city in side a large rock. Amazing was the view as my craft circled to the landing pad.
    • After landing and shutting down all systems, I climbed down to the deck and removed my helmet. Umft A blow on most knocked me down. Juni, in her enthusiasm to see me literally leapt at me. Her welcome back kiss was like water to a thirst man. I hung the helmet on the hook at the ship, then, arms around each other, we headed to the control room so I could report in.
    • Major Ito was the commander now of the base. I would miss Ozu. He was a fine leader. Now, though, I had to report my findings to the Major. Juni headed to her quarters as I knocked and entered the office.
    • Juni was talking to a soldier when I arrived. She was as nervous as I was about tomorrow. After all, its not everyday you get married.
    • Orillion was just climbing out of his Anubis when King walked up. King had been expecting this visit after all, he was the one who called Orillion with the data he had learned. A dire time now was here. Pittsburgh was a good place to meet, even the Liberty Rouges had moved on and this area was pretty much empty. Let me see the data Orillion said , dispensing with pleasantries.
    • After an hour of pouring over the forms and charts, Orillion finally looked up from across the table with King. Damn, I really was hoping we were through with this business. Orillion muttered just loud enough for King to hear.
    • Casper, I know it looks grim, but this time we have the edge. King said, hope rising in his voice.
    • The edge Orillion shot back, We might, if we act now. Orillion wrote a list of names he wanted contacted for a mission and slid it over to King. After reading it, he said You know shes going to be mad as hell at me for this, dont you? A lark in the voice. He needed to stretch his legs and Sinclar would want to come along. After all, they had only been married two months. She had gotten a break in her studies of the DomKavash artifacts so that they had some time together and he asked her to marry him. The shout of YES was so loud, King thought they heard it at space dock. Another on the list, well lets say they wont be as happy with the news now.
    • Lord Hakkera, former president Jocobi and of course, Tobias were at the wedding. After all, Tobias was Trents best man. Jocobi was Junis maid of honor. Lord Hakkera was the official of the wedding and would do the honors of marrying Trent and Juni. All was in readiness for the hour. It would be festive indeed.
    • Two days later, Trent got a message from King asking him to meet on Pittsburgh. He grumbled at the message as did Juni when she saw it. But, King would not have sent it if it wasnt important. At least he and Juni would be husband and wife now. And that was a comforting thought. Stability in his life . He had watched people that he worked with and others killed before, so now he was extra protective.
    • Planet Pittsburgh, landing area. On the deck was King and Orillion. An unknown ship is coming in for a landing. As the figure climbs out of the craft, he still has his helmet on and walks up to the other two figures. Orillion turns to face the figure. I was beginning to wonder if you got Kings message. The figure removed his helmet. Trent!
    • Yea I got it Trent replied, shaking hands with both of them. But Juni didnt appreciate me having to take off just after the honeymoon he replied. I'm sorry, but it couldnt be helped Orillion continued, I needed the best for this problem.
    • And just exactly what is the solution King asked. A look of perplex on his face. He had to leave Sinclair as well.
    • Data was received recently about the unknown systems, A node has reactivated itself in the Omega 11 system, and the signal was traced back to the unknown system, so you know what that means, dont you Orillion answered.
    • It means they are back? Trent ventured. Orillion nodded. Damn Trent swore.
    • So what is your plan, and how can I help Trent asked, a wisp of a smile on his face. He looked forward to the combat.
    • Three days later, Trent and Juni were flying back to Leeds to meet with Tobias. At the same time, Orillion and King were headed to the Battleship Hood to recruit Hovis and few of his friends. Trent knew Tobias was itching to get into action after having been kicked out of the Bretonian Military. This mission would be right up his ally.
    • Leeds Planetary Gate cleared Trent and Juni for landing and they preceded to the space port for the meeting. The sky was blue today rather than the usual gray over cast.
    • After setting down and climbing out of their crafts, Tobias walked up. Trent, its so good to see you again, and you brought the Mrs. This time I see Tobias said, grinning ear to ear. I know you hated to have to lead so soon after the wedding and all
    • After two hours of explaining the situation and then laying out the data on the table, they had a game plan. Tobias would head for Omega 5 to await the arrival of the others. He was flying a Crusader fully armed and ready for battle. But even he had to admit, he did not know all of the plan, but was going to enjoy the trip. To be back in the saddle again was a good feeling for an old man.
    • Half way to the jump hole to Cambridge, Trent got a com call. Trent, there is a problem and I need you to divert to Cambridge and meet me, Quintain sent. Damn, Trent thought, and signaled Juni, that they needed to divert.
    • The Hood gave permission to King and Orillion to land. They found Hovis in the bar as usual, betting on the races. Dang Outcast, always chicken out on the last curve Hovis said out loud. He picked up the com Mic. Boys, teach that cowered a lesson. In the distance a small mushroom cloud grew. Hovis chuckled as he turned to face the strangers. What can I do for you two fellas he asked.
    • They sat at a table with drinks, watching two or three other races while talking. Now let me get this straight Hovis started, You want me to leave all this to what?, Go hunt some more Nomad types? Hovis had a perplexed look on his face.
    • Thats exactly what were asking Mr. Hovis Orillion answered. You are an excellent pilot and you were recommended by Trent, And that he thought you would welcome the challenge.
    • That tenderfoot said that? Hovis asked, disbelieving he had heard right. I dont know, you tell me why I should get involved. a look of expectancy now formed.
    • Look Hovis, theyll get further this time if we dont stop them, here and now.
    • King jumped in. His impatience showing. Beside, theres money involved if we succeed.
    • How much we talking about here Hovis replied, a grin beginning to form. Money always got his attention.
    • I believe, the offer is one million credits from Liberty and one tax free year Orillion continued.
    • All right, Hovis said, getting out of his chair, Count me in, where do we meet. **
    • Juni was thinking of Trent in flight and started to drift off course when Trent Beeped her. Juni, wake up over there He said, smiling at the reason she might be day dreaming.
    • Im here Trent, how far are we from Cambridge she asked, getting her bearings again.
    • We should be there inside of thirty minuets he replied and took the lead. He wondered what Quintain wanted that he could not putout over com traffic. He was still studying the relic that was used to send the Nomads away. It had stayed powered up and proved a good study. There was literally years of research that could still be done on that artifact alone. He loved this kind of work. He saw his own purpose in life now.
    • 1-Alpha-1 and Miss Zane, you are cleared for landing on Cambridge The gate control spoke.
    • Thats Commander and Mrs. Trent, gate control Juni relied. She loved being married and now that she had resigned from the LSF, she had no other rank, but Mrs. She relished it. After having to be a hard-nosed officer, she could now relax a bit and enjoy life more, if it had not been for the present circumstances.
    • They went to the bar first, but Quintain had left a message to meet him in a lab not far from the space port. He needed seclusion to work and now, privacy to talk. Trent grabbed a sidewinder fang before they left. He had not had one in ages.
    • The corridor was a long one, but they managed to find the lab. Juni pressed the door button, but had to wait till a voice came back, Im busy now, leave a com message and I will try to get back to you.
    • Dr. Quintain, Its Trent and Juni Trent called out. A few seconds later, the door slid open. The lab was a mess. Just a disorganized one this time. The last time, some one had tore it apart looking for the artifact.
    • Trent, juni, its good to see you both, and congratulations are in order I hear. Quintain said, leading them to a desk on the side of the room. He indicated the two chairs in front as he say behind the desk.
    • I suppose you have heard the news now? Quintain queried, I am still dubious about the findings though. A frown forming on his face. *
    • Only part of it from Orillion Trent responded. He was still hoping for a mistake in the data.
    • Well, the truth of the matter is, the data may be wrong Quintain started, there may be another reason for the energy output and the signal He looked down at his desk, searching for the page in his notes.
    • What do you mean, Dr. Juni asked, sitting up , her interest peaked.
    • Ah, here it is Quintain,. Said, moving the paper where all could see, Look at this picture taken from a long range probe of the unknown system.
    • On the picture, was a small object, not unlike the one Trent had attached to his ship when the faced all the nomad in the Dyson sphere. It was pulsating in the still picture. A sinister blue light. What is it Dr. Trent asked while studying the image.
    • Quintain scratched his head and thought before answering. I think it is a beacon for one of their stargates. He said. One that may beginning to form in Sirius.
    • But the Nomads did not have that ability to create this kind of thing, did they Juni asked in wonder.
    • No they did not, but....someone else did Quintain replied. All three knew what he was eluding to. The DomKavash were returning, but from where?
    • Juni and Trent thanked the good Dr. And asked that he send a coded copy of his findings to Orillion. They climbed back into their ships and prepared for lift off. A worried look on Trents face. He knew the nomads were formidable, but the creators of the nomads would be an even more formidable enemy, if left unchecked.
    • Hovis decided he wanted an Anubis this time to fly. He had heard in the news of the dealings with the Nomads and wanted the best ship to go up against an enemy this dangerous. Orillion had given him a newly outfitted one. Just dropped off from the Osiris. He was as happy as a kid in a candy store. He almost wanted to take a lap on the race course with it, that is if King hadnt talked him out of it.
    • Hovis had also given Orillion the names of a couple of pilots that had won on his course to see if they would be willing to fight as well, after all, they had survived Hovis. King seemed to think it was a good idea. They needed all the pilots they could get.
    • Orillion was back aboard the Osiris in his war room when the message and encoded data from Quintain came in. King heard a boom and came in to see Orillion leaning over his desk, fist on th top where he had just rammed it. A grimaced look on his face. This would not be good news, not at all.
    • What is it, Casper, whats got you so wound up King asked, himself worried now.
    • Orillion slid the paper across the desk to King. He gave a low whistle as he scanned it. This was bad. He thought. To think that we only had to fight the Nomads was one thing, but this? Casper, what are we going to do now King asked, his voice quavering a bit.
    • First, find out who is in the area of the signal and have them deploy a monitoring satellite near the probe Orillion said, I want pictures as well as data fed to me at all times. Orillion knew this task difficult, but he had to get a handle on it as soon as possible. There was a chance to avoid a war and he wanted it.
    • After King left, Orillion sat at the com panel and put a call into a friend on Manhattan, one that he could count on in negotiations. When the picture came up on the monitor, he spoke. Miss Jacobi, I am in need of your help.
    • Hovis arrived in the Omega 5 system and headed toward Tobiass location. When he got to the Cadiz Base, there were several other ships there as well. He recognized some from the race circuit. Damn good pilot, he thought. Good that they came. Mr Hovis, you are cleared to land and welcome to Cadiz the controller announced. After shutting down, Hovis headed for the bar. He knew the others had seen him arrive and would be waiting there for any news of what was going on.
    • Tobias was in a heated discussion on the merits of this little venture. A able pilot by the name of Red Dog was saying that all this fuss was for nothing. After all, the Nomads had been defeated and order was restored. He didnt see the reason for getting people stirred up over nothing. I tell you, you are the most stubborn pilot I have ever met Tobias stated, beginning to get red in the face himself, The data brought to us proves the matter is not over, and further more, it may even be the DomKavash themselves this time.
    • Hovis took this time to interrupt. You tenderfoots better not be backing out after I pushed for you to get involved, I might have to get the boys here to deal with some cowards, if you know what I mean. The look on his face spoke volumes. The others began to settle down. They had seen the handy work of his boys and had no desire to see it first hand.
    • Trent worked up another idea to get some more help. He pulled up and stopped short of the Omega 5 jump hole Whats up Trent? Juni asked as she circled the hole.
    • Lets head to the Stuttgart system, I know of a couple of guys I think might be able to help us out a little
    • Which station do you mean? Juni queried.
    • Freiburg Station, there are a couple of fellas that owe me a favor there. Trent replied as he fired up the thrusters towards the other jump hole. Juni was right behind him. She got on the com and let Tobias know they would be delayed in getting to Cadiz. She admitted to herself, that Trent truly did know what he was doing. Perhaps that was what saved them on the missions chasing after the nomads. He was a natural leader. The affect of the jump hole was so strange, yet she still liked the rush of adrenalin when they jumped from system to system. *
    • After convincing a few Hessians to let them pass, Trent and Juni made it to Freiburg Station. They found Jonner and Mr. Blix in the bar. Trent guessed they knew he was coming, just like before. It was a little unnerving to say the least. Jonner pointed to a booth and they headed over so they could talk in private. After the pleasantries were over and all had a drink, Jonner got down to business. Mr. and Mrs. Trent, what can we do for you saying this for the sake of politeness, as he already knew why they were there.
    • You already know that, but, to go into detail, we have data now that suggests a return of the DomKavash themselves Trent let that settle in before continuing. There is a node that is active and according to Quintain, it may be leading to the installation of a hypergate.
    • Well, Im not going to just sit here waiting for them to arrive, how about a friendly little bet on a race, say five laps, winner take all Hovis said.
    • The pilots that had raced with him before jumped at the chance. They all needed a little diversion. Tobias, however, reminded the, Lets not get carried away like some of your other races do, Sir. A little rebuke in the voice. Hovis nodded, understanding the point. He headed to his room to get his gear and check the new ship out. He wanted to push it to see what it had, to test it before combat.
    • The race took a little longer to get organized that Hovis thought. They had to agree on the course and as they had no rings here, that was difficult. It also took Hovis longer to adapt to the responsiveness of the new ship. This thing could turn on a dime. Dang, he loved it. Orillion finished his call to Jacobi and put one into Sinclar King. He needed her abilities and a job that was just up her ally. Sinclar here she replied when the com panel chimed. Oh, Orillion, King isnt here now, I thought he was with you she said, a little worried now.
    • Actually, its you I called to talk to, and yes, King is just fine. Orillion spoke, I need your services as a translator.
    • A little explaining and she got the picture of what he needed. She said she would head to Quintains lab and pick up the equipment and meet them on Cadiz base. He agreed and would put the call in to have everything ready for her when she arrived. The faster this was accomplished, the better. He also sent a short message to Jacobi letting her know of the plans. She would need all the help she could get.
    • King came into the room just as Orillion signed off with Jacobi. Well, whats next on the plate for us?He was itching to get to see Sinclar before all the fireworks began.
    • Orillion, sensing Kings thoughts, Sinclar will be meeting us on Cadiz he said. King snapped his head around at this. *Shes a part of this King said, his voice beginning to climb. He wanted home, safe away from all this. He was not happy a bit that she was brought into this. The danger was enough for himself, but her? She was his love, his treasure and he did not want to put her at risk.
    • Before King could blow his stack any higher, Orillion said, Jacobi asked for her to be brought in to work on a communications translation device and I agreed..
    • At least, you could have said something to me before she was brought in King said, eyes pleading.
    • She agreed with it and said she hoped to have something to do so she could stay near you Orillion spoke softly. The words seemed to have the desired effect. King visible calmed down and sat. King just shook his head. He realized too much was at stake. If Sinclar could help out things, and maybe, just maybe stop a war, then it would be worth it.
    • King got up and headed toward the door when Orillion spoke. Where yo headed? He heard King mumble that he wanted to check out his ship to get ready. Orillion knew this would be hard for King, but not this hard. Something must be up.Hovis won the race. Not too big a surprise to folks. His ship was the fastest around, now. He was in the bar buying everyone a round to celebrate. That little craft had surprised him. He loved the features that it had and wanted to try it in combat, soon. Tobias wandered over to him. That, was a fine race ye ran there, laddie. A chuckle in the voice.
    • Fine nothing, that was my best race ever, Hovis exclaimed, Remind me to thank that tenderfoot, Trent, for requesting me for this job. A smile beaming all across his face. Tobias just threw his head back and laughed. This was good medicine for the people here at the base.
    • Razor-1, this is control, you are expected, welcome to Cadiz base Another ship was docking. Another fighter for the war. The controller let Tobias know Razor-1 had arrived and that he would be directed to his office for a meeting.
    • Viper-7 and Bravo-9 were the ones that drew the duty to place the satellite near the node. Viper was flying an Anubis while Bravo-9 had the Mec ship. He would set the satellite in place while Viper circled a little was off, scanning for any type of trouble. They both hoped for none. They were out here alone. No one closer than three days flight to help them if they needed it.
    • Bravo had just used the boom to move the satellite when the boom jammed. Damn, now I got to suit up and go out there to unhang it. He was not looking forward to that. Viper, I got to go out and unhang the dang boom, watch my back. Viper rogered the signal. Viper then set the scanner to max range as he pulled closer to Bravos craft. Now he was getting edgy. He didnt understand why they needed this set up for, why not just blast the node into a million pieces. With it gone, so would be the Nomads or what ever was behind it.
    • Bravo pushed and then pulled. He it the remote control on the arm, but still, it refused to move. He put his back against the satellite and kicked at the boom. Movement. He picked up the remote and activated it again. Slowly, as if bound up, it moved. Almost to where he needed it to be. Just a meter more to go.
    • The area seemed to brighten a little. He could see more details on the satellite skin. Bravo, did you just turn your lights on came a call from Viper.
    • What are you talking about, I havent touched anything. Bravo replied, frustration in his voice. The light grew more intense. Something was wrong. Bravo, its coming from the node, Get out of there Viper called out loudly, his voice now on edge. The light now grew rapidly. In a matter of seconds it enveloped Bravo and his ship. Viper tried to fire up his engine, but to no avail. The light move fast, faster than Viper knew. He and his craft were swallowed up in the light. I grew brighter and larger in area. Until it was as large as a jump gate. It solidified in the form of a golden triangle arch. Pulsing lights on the corners. An alien jump gate had formed now. But no one remained to see it. The only thing to escape the area , was a signal that Viper had managed to send, with a picture of the expanding light, home.
    • Razor-1 was in the Bar. He wanted something to wet his whistle. His edge was getting soft these days. He relished the edge he had developed fighting the Nomads. It helped him focus, it helped him survive. Now, he needed to sharpen it. After downing the drink, he headed over to the parts dealer. He purchased ten EMP mines and had the dealer set the mines to his ship harmonics. The dealer was horrified, They will home in only on your ship, are you crazy.
    • I know what Im doing, Razor replied and climbed into his ship. After they were loaded, he contacted control to launch his ship. Even as his ship slipped out the docking doors, the dealer was contacting Tobias.
    • From the bar, all could see Razor as he moved in a tight circle near the station. The EMPs he had, only had a twenty meter detonation range. Anything out side that would not be effected. On the third circle, Razor released all ten mines. The last one started to home in on him. He sped away from it at top speed. As he left the mines range, he did a tight one eighty and circled back straight at it, guns locked on target. Base cameras kept both in view on a screen, but most preferred to watch from the port screens.
    • As soon as he came in range of th mine, it began to move toward him. At the last minuet, he killed his engine and fired. A flash was all that was seen on the base, then his ship corkscrewing through the flash and headed toward the next. Hovis even had a wager going on weather Razor would get them all or not.

ok guys microsoft did it again
like in SL they have decided not to support FL anymore

and thats why the global list server was offline all the time

    again no

    statements...

some FL players contacted MS to buy the global list

    server

its back again hosted by those

    guys

    KOTOR2 sux

sry but the story is crap and

there are way to many bugs that are really anoying

    they released an unfinished game

and dropped some locations and important parts of the story

    ohh and its way to

    easy
they have promised much but in the end the game just is pure

    crap

m8 - not the ppl who tried to improve to be the best were the problem

    or did i ever

was a problem for new players and those that just played for fun?

    the problem were

those guys which didnt accept that there are also other good players

    i was good...

damn good to be exactly but that was not as important for me as the fact that my friends

    also had success and fun
i shared my knowledge and trained with them (also with

    UNG/APS)

my only problem on the zone was that i never can agree in some bad behaviour

that was shown by some players (WP) and that i fought

    this

    SWAT_OP-R8R
    Portal-Administrator

WP = wolfpack and if you would know them the way i do then you

    wouldnt like them

since i know them 4 WP members got caught cheating and just one of

them got kicked out of the clan
since i know them they treated others like pure

    bullshit
since i know them they were always hiding behind their leader
    since i know

them they joined up with other clans just to attack 1 little clan, others have to fight for

them and then they call themselfs winner
their usual way of discussion is to use insults

    against other clanmembers
they never play fair and honour has no meaning for

    them

    i use this theme

coz it looks cool and coz i dont have that much time to create a completely

    i suggest that the asf

and the csf plan the attacks for this weekend and it would also be nice if i can get a reply

    to my requests

ohh and before i forget it... how long do i still need to wait before

the leaders of the alliances (i dont care who the leaders will be) come to me to get their

    instructions?

    SWAT_OP-R8R
    Portal-Administrator

    aha

but ehmm just to mention... only the clans play asf vs csf... and this would

mean that the clanleaders are responsible for their members...

    so why dont you

leaders direct your members to read this forum or post the important stuff to your own

    forum

    its just a suggestion

    SWAT_OP-R8R

nitro there is a reason for this decision... if you dont like it... fine

    i also dont

like many things here and as long ppl decide not to listen what i have to say ... i just

    dont care what others think
