Just a heads up everyone I am back and active again. My little brother visited me for a week and I got him hooked on this mod. @Alekzander He used to play the original game back in the day. As we all know I'm a huge KoToR fan, and so is he. Expect [RA]HK-47 to deliver the hilarious and blunt commentaries as in the game =D

Ok, I have my computer up and running again
I even went as far as making a complete backup/restore disk of the current state with all the Win7 updates installed. Not going through 3 days of updates and restarts again! But....I backed up my Crossfire Mod and game on my Tablet, and I left the charger (which is the only USB cord that reads the SD card) at work. I can't reinstall the game without that, so still another few days. Really sorry everyone, thanks for the patience! FYI I accepted the clan group application Rayden, thanks for waiting on that.
I promise once I get everything setup again I will be as active as I was before, 4-5 hours a day. I've been so bored that I almost beat Dragon Age Inquisition on a second play through (so you can see how much down time I have). Cya in space mates!
BTW OP, I will message you when I am ready, I may need help restoring my FL ID, which is why I sent it to you. Do you just open the document and copy/paste it?
-
Portal should be able to invite you to the forum, with my computer crashing the other day, I haven't been able to do anything. Also been very busy at work, only able to check the forum every other day. However...
341 updates later, Windows is officially reinstalled! Still need to add my graphics card back in and install that, then install the Freelancer and the Crossfre mod again, but I should be back on tomorrow, Saturday at the latest.
-
EMERGENCY reinstall of windows 7. I saved my Crossfire ID, sent it to OP and took a screenshot of it. I should be back on in a few days after reinstalling EVERY ****** windows update, then the game/mod. Wish me luck
Really sorry, I know my clan is anxious to access the base we just built (OP should have fixed the issue) with me docking for the first time, then I can grant access to everyone. Thanks for your patience guys, cya hopefully by Wednesday. [RA]Portalearth is in charge while I am gone, second to him his [RA]Mr_Dedd. Safe flying.

Hmm I see the comment was edited and removed before I got to read it...I probably know what the content about was since I was online when |DP|AZ09 attempted to collect the bounty...on that note, I also edited my System Rules which list all the bounty's [RA] Clan has open. The only information on my System Rules now contains the player name, the bounty reward, the reason why (without going into too much detail), and the duration of the bounty. Perhaps whatever [GR] has to say about the situation that transpired after the bounty was placed does not need to disclosed to the public (if that's what the edit was about).
Anyway, the bounty is still open though
Good hunting! Thanks for trying the other day |DP|AZ09, I hope you get him

Greetings fellow mercs! A bounty for 10,000,000 has officially been placed on player SmartX for violating the [RA] system rules in Omicron Gamma. He got away before we could blow his ship to oblivion, so the bounty will be in effect from 2/23/16 though 3/1/16.
We will post all our bounties here, and you may also check our System Rules post for any other bounties we may have. Currently only this one, but more to come eventually!

you see problems where none are
Promethean made suggestions and i dont agree to that point of few
i explained why and thats itin my eyes not ever idea is a good one
putting aside that i have many years of experience and alot of knowledge about whats possible, I also try to foresee the consequences of such changes
e.g. what happens to grounded battleships? How do ppl earn money if they cant launch?
Lets face it... its best to think about such stuff before changes are done because its pretty hard to correct mistakes when they go live.regarding your question.
We discussed the possiblity to add battleship docking to the mod but decided against it.
It would be just a feature that isnt used much.... there simply is no real need to use it.I am sorry, English is my second language. I think I misunderstood my translation or interpretation of some of the comments. You are right though, you need to think about everything (foresee) how it works in the future and make your decision revolving around that insight, the potential problems, and the possibilities and limitations.

Hmm, hope this conversation didn't stir up too much tension or cause any animosity! I mean no offense when I say this, but Promethean Era (also a new recruit to the RA clan) is still a new player, and like myself (and many new players), when we first start the game, we don't know everything yet, we are still learning, and occasionally make uneducated guesses at things. Not calling him uneducated, but you should have seen my first posts about things, I'm glad OP didn't just say "gtfo here noob". No one take offense please, we're all adults here
The overall thread seemed very fair/nice/appropriate, just want to keep the peace and everyone happy.
On that note, here is my take on it:
1) Each Battleship/Cruiser/DN has certain benefits and weaknesses, I don't know them all, but it definitely takes some trial and error to find a ship you like and can pilot comfortably.
2) Think of the story mode, even before this mod. Almost every time a Battleship was encountered, there was usually a wing of 5 fighter pilots on your side, and the enemy Battleship had a wing of fighters as well. A battleship/dn/cruiser isn't going to be much use flying solo, it's just a giant target waiting to be shot at with difficult maneuvers. With the ADV battleship turrets, I can kill level 19 ships in like 2 well placed shots, but if I am getting flanked and have to turn around, chances are the smaller ships will win because they are faster, and I keep going in never ending circles
3) So far, even taking my Dreadnought Inquisitor solo, I think I have found a great balance of firepower and ability to kill ships fast. When my clan accompanies me with 5 VHF outfitted with alien guns, power gens, armor class, and shield regens, I can't wait to see how much of a force we will be reckoned with.
4) Final thought, there are still many things with balancing about the game I am getting used to. I never played another mod, so I am lucky I don't know how other mods work, or I might make stupid suggestion (not saying yours were stupid at all). Since I've only been active on every day for about two months, I think the progress, time it takes, difficulty of flying though open space in huge systems, it all works itself out nicely.
PS, can a VHF in my group dock on my battleship? If not, there's my suggestion for the day
i haven't had a chance to try yet or i wouldn't be asking.
With love,
Revan

The NPC's on border planets are around level 19, where as starting in NY everyone is under level 10. Level 19 def harder! Glad I found you in game yesterday and helped with the nuetral status
Cya in space mate!

Please move this thread if it's in the wrong board.
I'm not sure if this suggestion has come up before, but I think it has some potential! The title of this thread says it all, have a cargo container exclusive to players who have a smuggler license equipped. I'm not sure how you would make the item illegal and detectable by Police or NPC's (since cargo container is equipment not commodity), and I don't know what the cost/sale price should be, that's a decision for OP to make, but I'd suggest cost 400k, sell for around 2 million (about double the current containers).
The only way this would work is if the distance for the route is the same as the other routes (usually 4-5 systems depending on what you sell), otherwise trading regular legal cargo containers would still be quicker and more profitable. Unless you made the profit worth the time to travel from one end of Sirus to the other, also gives police potentially more time to catch us! Us smugglers know the risks we take, ESPECIALLY in a train haha.
If it can't be done due to the limitations and the way everything is coded, then oh well I tried =P

As this is my first post here on the forums, I would like to preface by saying that, besides the music in the prisons, I absolutely love the Crossfire mod.LMAO THAT MADE MY DAY! The music is like a troll to me haha, but I do like the deep sound of the Tuba. Bom bam bom bump!
You’re running into the same issue that almost everyone does here when they start playing, whether Singleplayer or Multiplayer. I will be honest, the story mode is very hard and long, and I often played on easy/god-mode if I could not win. Some dogfights literally took me 45 minutes. I’m a better pilot now after watching the video on fighting, although the concept is the same if you’ve been playing this game for years, making your shots count is really important here.
But…here is my advice:
Trade cargo for a while until you make at least 20m. It is slow for the first week, then it gets easier when you buy a new ship with more cargo space, discover more bases for trade routes (they change daily), and you’ll have a very nice ship and decent money in no time! If you’re playing SP, you level up by the money earned, and it’s easier to trade and level up then do the missions in a low level ship! If you play the multiplayer I’ll even get you some nice guns, like nomad weapons or something from Coalition space,I might even try to recruit you to my clan, then I can help with just about everything!
It might seem like a lot of extra work just to get a decent ship and be able to fight NPC’s easily, but it really can all be done under 10 hours, which is like 2-3 days at 2 hours each. I figured it out on my own, but everyone online is friendly and will answer any questions you have. You won’t realize it until you play a lot more, but this mod is perfectly balanced, all things taken into consideration, I rarely see any mod with a balanced economy, this is definitely one of them! It takes some patience and getting used to, but the end result is worth it.
In one month, I made about 1bil credits from trading. I now have a Battleship with the best guns/equipment, a very heavy fighter with 100m spent on guns/equipment, a Soulforge Train (trading cargo pods from planet to planet is like 12m credits round trip!), and an Armored Transport for smaller cargo runs. That’s a pretty decent accomplishment for one month of gameplay, maybe 2 hours a day I play. Anyway, you need any help in game, feel free to ask!
-
I'd be willing to fly out there with either my Train or Battleship, I can either be one of the traders or one of the fighters.

You're not just getting old, we all are. I remember when I first played this mod a few years ago, the ship movement and mouse sensitivity were a big difference from the original Freelancer. Now I can't even remember the difference. Having sporadic hand movements will surely impede the success of some missions, like the race in Dublin, but luckily someone uploaded their game save for you
A little tip: There is easy/god mode in the settings from in the game, and I always traded cargo between each mission, because the amount of money needed for the next level can be a lot! If I remember correctly once you start the new story, you stay the same level until the end of the game, each new mission requires completing the last. Best of luck!

I have a Galaxy Note 4 running Android 5.1.1
I have no issues using the phone browser, occasionally I just click/hold to open some pages in new tabs, because of the way the drop downs are structured or the direct link to the parent page doesn't open. Some phone browsers have an option to "full view site" usually seen if you scroll all the way down to the bottom. Here's a snapshot from my phone:
Obviously turning the phone (portrait/landscape) shows/hides some menu options from the top. But I've used just about every page, all code in posts (like warning, info, videos, spoilers, etc) works perfectly fine. Naturally everything is easier on the PC web browser, but it's nice that the phone web browser has the usability it needs to have for me.
For the record I did not do this post on the phone =P

Omicron Gamma System Rules
Edit bySee next post!
Updated: 2/25/16
Changes:
1) Player SmartX has been added to Temporary Access Restriction and KoS list.
2) Rules apply to everyone over level 45 (previously level 50)
3) Access to the StarForge (our Clan Base) is one-tme-only fee of 5,000,000 credits.
Rules approved & effective as of 2/10/16These rules apply to everyone, unless no [RA] pilot is online, then you caught us with our pants down and we can't enforce the law.
The clan leader (myself) reserves the right to subject these rules to change, with or without notice. No other clan member is authorized to tell you these rules are different other than what you read below.
Faction Allies: Corsairs, Red Hessians
Official Clan Allies: |DP| Clan
Nuetral: (coming soon)
Enemies: (coming soon)Simplified Version
(shorter)
1. Hail [RA] before entering our system, unless alliance clan. We reserve the right to deny access for any reason or charge up to (shall not exceed) 500K credits for access. Paid access is valid for 24 hours.
2. Anyone under level 45 may explore freely and is safe from mercenaries, or entry fees. You still MUST hail before entering.
3. If you're hostile with Corsairs, we may open fire. We will help with Nomads if you paid toll on jump hole or alliance clan.
4. No Pirate activities, period. You're free to pass so long as you follow this rule and pay toll.
5. Mercenaries allowed to collect bounty (except on [RA]), must pay 10% of bounty. Cease fire if pilot is docking. Do not camp at dock, both the merc and player with a bounty!
6. Police will enforce the law, even against us.
7. All wrecks are salvageable by anyone, no interference from [RA]
8. Access to the StarForge (clan base) one time fee of 5,000,000 credits.Extended Version
(the "what-ifs" and clarified exceptions on everything)[1] First and foremost, you must hail any [RA] pilot online BEFORE entering our system, as you will receive in return from us before we enter your system. We reserve the right to deny access for any reason, such as we are training, or charge up to (shall not exceed) 500,000 credits to enter. Alliance clans always free, but please respect our right to access in the event we are training.
[2]Omicron Gamma is open to anyone below level 50 with no restrictions whatsoever. This includes any fee’s, tolls on jump holes, grants you immunity from having a bounty on your head collected in our system, and [RA] will not interfere with your hostility towards the Corsairs (if applicable). We may even assist with the Nomads at our discretion. However, we cannot and will not interfere with Police enforcing the law.
[3]Omicron Gamma is located on the edge of the Sirus Sector, known as an “Edge World”. There is little authority here, other than our presence, and there is sporadic chaos amongst criminal factions such as the Corsairs. Nomad fighters also frequent the nearby Lower Unknown Jump Hole. So long as you are neutral with the Corsairs, we will gladly assist you with the Nomads if requested, as your toll fee covers this protection, and our Dreadnought Leviathan stands by. If you’re unfriendly with the Corsairs, or fire upon them, we reserve the right to defend our allies, or stand by and do nothing. In the event we do nothing, and you survive, we will thank you for disposing of those weak pilots; survival of the fittest. The only exception here is we will not offer protection from the Nomads if the Corsairs are hostile with you.
[4] No Pirate activities are allowed in Omicron Gamma, period. You’re welcome to pass through our system however.
[5] Mercenaries are allowed to collect bounties in our system, however, must offer 10% of the reward in order to collected upon the bounty in our system. Any bounty on an [RA] pilot cannot be collected in our system, period. You may instead invoke the right to parlay**. Bounty’s cannot be collected within 1k of any base and/or planet (dock killing/camping), but does not apply to Jump Holes. However, we will not allow a pilot with a bounty on his head to camp out near a dock for more than 90 seconds (3 minutes). This rule favors larger ships with slower and more difficult docking maneuvers, but only allows enough time to safely dock, restock supplies, and keep flying. Use your time wisely!**Invoking The Right of Parlay:
If a bounty is on our head, we cannot flee to our system to be safe. If you want to collect a bounty on someone in [RA] who is currently in our
system, hail them, and invoke the right of parlay. Invoking the right of parlay will require that clan member to meet you right outside of our
system and face their fate. Do a fair countdown until open-fire, may the best man win. I assure you, my clan and its members will not abuse the
safe-zone we have declared of our system, and our role-play treats "invoking the right of parlay" as an honor and will comply 100% (Just say: "I invoke the right of parlay for the bounty on your head!"). I hereby pledge that no [RA] member will give you any issues if there is a bounty on their head, they won't switch characters, they won't log off, they won't fire early in the countdown, no crap will be pulled. In my opinion, if they earned the bounty on their head the deserve to meet their fate, end of story.Report anyone who does not comply to the Police or myself.
Any pilot with a bounty on his head who surpasses the 3 minute grace period with docking will be subject to termination by either the Mercenary collecting the bounty or any [RA] pilot. In the event we terminate the bounty before the mercenary, [RA] will respect the mercenary's bounty and turn over the credits collected from it, minus 10% commission aforementioned.
[6] Police may reserve the right enforce the law, even against [RA] pilots. The law is the law, regardless of our status as Smugglers.
[7] All wrecks may be salvaged with no interference or fee whatsoever from [RA].[8] Access to the StarForge (our Clan Base) will require a one-time-only fee of 5,000,000 credits. We sell all alien guns, ship wrecks, and much more, so it's worth the price!
Any pilot caught violating these rules for the first time will result in a KoS if you're still in our system, after which you will be escorted to the nearest jump hole. You may have a lucrative bounty placed on your head as well depending on the severity of the violation, or if you leave before we find you. If you violate our rules for a second time, you will be added to our KoS Protocol and temporarily denied access to our system. In the event you're denied temporarily access, a bounty will be placed each time you are caught entering our system. The temporary access restriction can be revoked by paying a fee of 10,000,000 credits. If you violate these rules for a third and FINAL time, you will be permanently denied access to our system and forever remain on our Kos Protocol.
Temporary Access Restriction
Player Name: SmartX
Bounty: 10,000,000 Credits, effective from 2/23/16 ~ 3/1/16 unless collected before expiration.
Reason: Blatantly violating system rules, despite numerous attempts to warn the player.
KoS Protocol
(This means we will engage in PvP wherever we see you, except safe systems of course)- Player Name: SmartX
Permanent Access Restriction
- None at the moment.

Looking forward to see all the hard work developing this feature pay off and become a reality, super excited!
-
Just move the difficulty scale to God mode - That's pretty much it
Maybe if he didn't spend 3 hours typing up his posts he would have found this setting on his own? Saved my ass plenty of times in SP.
I graduated from college in the USA with an associates in Business Administration, both my parents are attorneys (my mother specialized in copyright infringement), I'm registered with the GNU Afferno GPL (which is free modify/redistributable software), have developed and ran mods/servers for a few games since 2008 (find me on RageZone!), and believe me, just about everyone here (especially OP and except for you) knows a thing or two about the licensing or rights, even in regard to the music, so all your claims regarding the EULA aren't even valid. While we're at it I'm a music producer/sound engineer, and know ALOT about music rights, the basic being between the difference between commercial and non-commercial use of copyrighted recordings. It's worth noting that you don't pay for this game to hear the music, and this game is not licensed as free software (public source code), and there are no proceeds allocated from donations. We can sit here and dilly dally over legal discrepancies, but believe me, the creators of this mod will never receive a Cease and Desist order from any courts for violating the EULA or DMCA. (if you even know what that is without going to google)Regardless, instead of adding this, I'm going to launch and play some Single Player, in God Mode where I'm the invincible ship

[RA] (Republic Alliance) is recruiting new members! We've seen a slight influx of new players come and go, and hope to retain some of them by getting them (potentially you) to join a clan and participate in the roleplay!
I will certainly update this thread once I have my rough drafts finalized, but this pretty much sums it up:
Roleplay: Smugglers
Home System: Omicron Gamma
Qualifications: Minimum level of 40, vetting your experience with the game, willing to participate in the role.Overall clan goals: Build a base, build a fleet of BattleShips, establish and own certain BMG routes, respect other clans and their claims, occasionally run from the police
If you're new to the server, or aren't in a clan, feel free to message any [RA] member online in the game, or send me a personal message and we will get acquainted! It's safe to say that [RA] is sitting on a HUGE pile of credits, is willing to purchase your first trading ship (under 20m credits), and pave the way for your success in the server and roleplay!
Interested in reading up on Revan or how the [RA] clan is forming? Check out the story here:
