    i dont know if this is possible!
    My idea is about BS and Asteroid miners,
    Ok now they both have little mass that makes 'em spin.
    Well why dont u increase the mass and make 'em more manuverable . I have notised that in SP and MP when u bump into BS it doesnt move (but thats only for the NPC's) Its a whole other thing with the BS's we fly !!!
    the SPIN like crazy ! ! !
    OK there's my idea m8 .
    Umust of seen todays shuttles in space!
    To take off the use huge amount of fuel but when they reach space the use small nozzles with compressed air to navigate through space .
    And cuz there is no gravity they move very easy :)


    Why dont u use the same "technology" for BS's
    It would look like that: nozzles on both sides that
    help the BS make turns. But if u are going to do this it would be better to increase the mass so that u dont have this problem with the spinning even if dozen players bump into you ;)


    I'm not sure if u can realize that and put it into the game but if u do it will make a whole much different treatment for Battleships .

  • I've liked this idea, perhaps thruster mounts on different locations on the hull could do this, but i guess that there's no way to map one different key to different thrusters :(

  • There's an idea in my mind for some time. Whoever played x-wing vs tie-fighter will remember this.


    This idea could be very usefull indeed, especially for those with bad targeting.


    There's any way, to add the option of making guns fire sequentially, instead of all together? For instance, someone with 5 guns, all of them ppc's. When fired, instead of firing all 5 together, the ship would fire first the gun 1, then 2, 3 , 4, 5, then again 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Just like a minigun does, it doesn't fires all barrels at the same time, but one at the time. :)

    i've done it already :D
    u need to press 1 or 2(buttons :D )
    and the right after u ave pressed them u click the right button of the mouse.
    That way u fire those 1 or 2 shots first and te rest follows that order: 1 at the time, 2 at the same time
    and so on... its easy. :D:D:D:D
    So u see there is absolutly nothing thats imposible :D

  • Yup, i've done this already, but this method can get complicated while in middle of a battle, or when the power runs out. I was think more about an mutator

  • I have more suggestions:


    Trains and Battleships all can spin easily, as Neorok said, but one thing that annoys me most is when I jettison cargo. For some reason the release point in somewhere in the middle of the ship, which makes it spin like crazy if I jettison something.


    So whilst increasing the ship mass for Battleships and Trains, could you change the jettison "door" on trains?


    Also, when I scan other freighters (the Transports, not the larger Trains), they have an incredible amount of cargo hold (roughly 80,000!). Even the Armored transport has that much. So I suggest, rather than making the Cargo Pods simple aesthetics upgrades, to make them into cargo upgrades. For example, when you buy the worse cargo pod, you get 100 extra cargo. Whilst if you buy the best, you get 1000 cargo more.


    I know it sounds a bit complicated... I just hope it can be done. :D

  • Hmm... ok.


    Another suggestion then: ship maneuverability should be affected by how much cargo they are holding. For example, lets say a Predator has a maneuverability of 10 and a Train a maneuverability of 4, both when empty.


    Now, when the Predator is "full" (100 units of cargo are occupied), the maneuverability should drop to 7. On the Train's side, when "full" (2500 units / 5000 units are occupied), the maneuverability drops dramatically (to 2/1).

  • ok, nice. but in fight everybody will make sure to have no cargo. and the weight reduction needs about 60 units of cargo space, which will make it sensless. solution: no cargospace for weight-reduction.

  • Oh... I didn't think about the Weight Reduction upgrades... And who fights with a full cargo hold anyways??? Its too risky, because if you die you will lose your items.

    A mooring fixture on Planet Earth. It just doesn't make sense to buy a huge ship and then not being able to land there. I have a normal Train (not the Soulforge), and now I have to buy a small ship to be able to land there to buy the Soulforge. I mean, c'mon that doesn't make sense. [2]

  • Besides cheating, lag screws all, just a player bad connection or a downloading one creates lag on the server and makes the server look bad.
    To have a good server (well, i really think, the best server) there must be a quality control on that.
    In my opinion OP is absolutely right that only a good roleplay base will keep players on it, but then, lag screws all, and it is a shame that a great server and the best mod is f.... by a lame player who dont cares about its connection.
    What are the solutions to this?
    Seems to me that flcd does a 2 way connection check against its own server, but perhaps just a flping scheme against the flserver whould do.


  • I heard or read somewhere that there is a way to check for your connection without getting into your privacy so if you are producing lag the system gets you out. implemented in one of the CF patch but for some reason didnt work well.


    ANother idea I stumble in lancersreactors, real physics? but that will change the way you see FL and maybe not many people would be happy about that...

  • I'm all for a mooring fixture at Earth - the other day I took my newly acquired Train for a test spin before noticing it didn't come with a shield, leaving me hanging outside the docking ring feeling rather vulnerable and somewhat silly. [wall2] This aside, it does rather seem logical to have a mooring fixture at the only planet where the large freighters are available.


    Pls can we have a mooring fixture at earth? :))


    On the topic of Trains - would it be possible to give these, and maybe other freighters, the ability to mount shield upgrades, either the ones already available or new ones specifically for freighters. Without escorts, the Trains can be sitting ducks in hostile territory, shield upgrades would offer a slightly greater chance of making it to safety. Maybe this could be arranged while the the tendency for Trains to deflection violently from their trajectory at the slightest knock is being looked into? :))


    On a general note - the effort which goes into making CF the high quality, benchmark FL MOD that it is, really is impressive and most commedable. Thnx all those who work to make this possible! You deserve more encouragement than is generally offered. [thumb]

    will b done... earth had no mooring fix coz of the story.... it was just re-explored


    shieldupgrades for trains are not possible... but i was talking with rghawk about new stats for trains
    in fact i already did the chances and the hull of both trains is 4 times stronger now and the scouser is 2 times stronger


    oh and baldwin and corp are added to the credits of CF due to their work on the infocards and the cheat protection
    from what i know gunny will be added to that list too


    the WRK will stay the way they are... reason is the balance
