Microsoft OS7 interfered with Crossfire's access to my LAN

    My Microsoft OS (Win7) blocked some of Crossfire's access to my home network (saw the dialogue box for the 1st time when I exited CF). I exited CF because I received a pop-up informing me I was banned from the server. I've since allowed CF to have full access to my LAN.


    Could the blocking be the cause of the banning?


    Can you tell me long I'll be in the penalty box?

    Greetings, reason why was your account banned will be in server logs. Usually this happen when your installation is bugged and/or are some game files blocked (could be in your case system). Server admin ( SWAT_OP-R8R) will look on this, but is weekend, so please little patience. With this, I suggest check if you have whole mod folders in your antivirus exceptions list, this kind of software is most commonly behind players issues while on multiplayer. Your game installation is automatically checked not only to prevent cheat usage, but also to protect server performance (which is affected when players have damaged installation and connect to server). If such situation repeat, I suggest use our Bugtracker for reporting this.

    I must admit; I am intrigued. Possible cheating. Wow, I wonder what I did. I had a new (64 bit) gaming machine built. I installed Freelancer from my game CD and without even playing it once I then installed Crossfire 2.0 as per the directions provided with the download. My Panda anti-virus is always in gaming mode and I've added Crossfire to its exclusion list. I checked my firewall and determined that Crossfire, like my other games, is allowed through the wall.


    Last night's foray was my first in MP. As far as a ship_related cheat might go, I was given a Starflier, immediately traded it in for an entry level cargo ship (Humpback? I'm not sure of it's name). I worked NY until I had the coin to buy a Bullpup Mark 1 and traded it in for a Sabre on Plant Blood. I was using the Sabre when I started experiencing connection issues, ending in the notice of my being banned.


    I don't know what else I can do. Do you recommend uninstalling both and reinstalling both again, or just Crossfire perhaps? Any idea how long I'm banned for? I appreciate your assistance.

    Hmm second player with "panda" av in last few days and second issues. I smell 'norton' in the air. Please check also FAQ entry dedicated specially for Norton AV for possible inspiration. In Norton case it without correct setting didn't worked even with it have disabled :( ...

    Cudos to SilverFox for the FAQ link to reinstalling Crossfire, and to Martind Forlan for suggesting I look at Norton Antivirus issues (the very next entry in the FAQ). Thank you both very much. I will look into both today.
    Martind, I'm not particularly glued to using Panda. If you know of an A/V that works really well with Crossfire, please let me know. I did get to play for a couple (4) hours last night, so that was nice but then my connection was dropped.
