Crossfire Mod Options not appearing at activation

  • Ok, so I've checked everywhere else and did not see this issue posted so...here's my story:

I had to reload Freelancer/Crossfire because I thought I screwed something up in the options for the graphics. Maybe it doesn't recognize SLI (I have NVidia cards). Ok, no problem. I'll just do a clean install of everything for Freelancer Crossfire. Follow the directions...mess up on a step. Screwed up. Did this three more times and on the third time, I had chosen my mod options but FORGOT TO RESTART and a file was missing...so I had to do ANOTHER fresh install. (Yes, I felt like an idiot at this point) But now that I followed everything to the letter and I go to activate, I now have no Mod Options to choose. No cursor choosing or Trent outfit choosing. It just goes straight through activation right to the launcher. Help! What did I not do right?

  • if you clean registry and delete everything cf related (included save folder in documents) then all should work correctly.

  • Hi Harbinger,

4 -5 times the whole de-re-installation procedure. .... Not bad for someone who "just" started living in CF-universe :D

I've cut down my count on installing CF "anew" to only 2 - 3 times, until everything works as I wanna have it :arghs:

Most likely, as Martind said, you forgot to delete something somewhere. Beside cleaning your registry by hand from everything related to CF and/or Freelancer and/or FLMM (only doing it by hand gives you the the chance to clean REALLY everything) I would also recommend using the windows search function on
    Crossfire
    CF
    Freelancer
    myGames
    FLMM
    FL
(sometimes interesting where you might still find some remnants).

This might also help you to identify stuff you eventually would like to keep (i.e. earlier savegames).
When found copy them to a separate folder somewhere else on your drive - or perhaps on your second/"storage" drive, if you have one.

It might sound a bit offsetting, these repeated installation procedures and the time they need, but IMHO
IT'S ABSOLUTLY WORTH THE EFFORT :D

  • Guide posted here can seriously decrease time for cf activations (as also for direct compare how look different setting)

  • Follow the guidance that NucNuc and Martind have given you and all will work out. As for the SLI, a non-issue. I run twin GTX-680's configured for SLI with no issues. As they can tell you, I'm slightly anal on some things and when I am testing I wipe everything and install all new for a base while testing. I have become pretty proficient at new installs. I also use Ccleaner after I have uninstalled FLMM and FL. Let us know if you still have any problems.
