vanilla freelancer launches but crossfire mod wont even start . freelancer.exe doesnt even comeup in the taskmanager

    another thing i just did was i copied the exe file from the EXE2 folder and overwrited it on the original exe in the main folder.. now when i click the game runs without starting the launcher and still.im unable to see the intros.. its a blackscreen but some music plays in background ..i press esc so im getting the freelancer menu..

    To answer the question about settings button, it is at the bottom of the launcher window next to the MP button. [trennlinie][/trennlinie] As to the black screen issue, do a search in the forum, that has been discussed and various resolution depending your set up. In my case I had to deactivate the Aero Themed wallpaper and use the standard windows theme. Now this should automatically with the new launcher that will come with CF 2.0. It should already happen but it has been found not to in some cases. Reasons vary. [trennlinie][/trennlinie] As to the moving around of the EXE files, I don't think anything good will come of that but it seems to point to the install not being good as that file would have been where it is supposed to be if the install was correct. What is your source for Freelancer?

    my vanilla freelancer is from.torrent.. i played discoverymod and shadow of fear mod with it so no problem.in the game.. the exe file from exe2 folder i used seems to work it just skip the launcher thing.. idk.. im really confused what to do anymore. byfar the most complicated installation thing i have ever done in my life for a game.. :(

    first off - we do not support here pirated stuff. Torrent is hardly a legal source ...


    EXE2 is a folder created by game, is temporary and should be on place where is, period.


    Problem with intro not showing up is very likely related to video codecs which are installed on pc. And this win aero stuff was already a answered by Gearhead10. Try search here on portal more for issue or not working intro.

    man, cf is very complex mod (and huge) and is working on 99/100 pcs ... this 1% was so far every time local problem. We can suggest where to look and what to check, but bcs we do not have access to your pc, you need to work on it yourself. If is used illegal stuff, then it can have reasons which we cannot control. I still think that cf should normally work for you if you will search little more here (possible also in last link i provided)

    I have read whole thread again and it looks imo as issue with installed video codecs. He can run launcher without probs. When click on SP or MP are launched videos (there should be swat logo short vid, then intro. Nothing from this is played so I assume codecs are culprit.

    Video doesn't not show on Windows 8. There's just a black screen in playback and it cannot be fixed (so far).
    Video playback can be cancelled by hitting ESC key. So you need to disable the videos or hit ESC Key 3 times (for cancelling 3 videos)
    You can hear sound.

    im being able to play tho.. by using the exe from exe2 folder...


    can u tell me why is this happening in general . the normal exe file not launching at all.. after clicking on single player.. i see two application files some cfdw and freelancer and sometimes freelancef crossfore in the taskmanager they linger around for about a minute and then just go away.. i tried installing with disabling the norton internef security.. did every install by clicking the run as administrator and removed read only thing also... and yes i also wanted to ask.. ive seen one thing when right click on freelancer folder or anyfolder in my lappy and see the read only option there is a small black dot/square within the white square.. so i just click to get that smaller dot/black square to remove and click apply then it ask u must have admin blah blah.. so i click ok and it applies attributes to everything and all.. then if i close the property box and again open if the black square is again there.. read only is never blank even after apply.. its not the tick mark its a small square..

    you might be able to play but the mod is still bugged without launcher as you dont get any of the patches


    and my best explanation would be "windows 8 is crap"

    I rather think that combination win8+Norton is more that cf can handle :) (counting issues which these cause separate :D )

    ahhh nevermind ill try to enjoy whatver is playing i have startef the normal storyline tell me why arent there any powerfull weapons in newyork space.. not even able to see torpedo or any weapons above class 2-3...

    you shouldnt expect to see high end equipment in starting systems
    that doesnt make sense

    You have very long way before you to be able get the best equip and i not mention some special alien guns :) ... CF is not a mod which you can finish in a day or so (taking stuff and exploration take time and for acquire some guns you need also combat skills)
