  • Hey.

Me and my group of friends have been waiting for a while to play the Xfire 2.0 Mod! And it's getting really close to an imminent release as the site suggests, only Storyline and Server Software parts are getting last fixes before the release!

Now, my wild question comes: is 1st August close to your release date plans? Is it too early or too late?

    Thanks in advance.
~10 pilots ready to lift off!

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • Hi. I registered to this Forum just to see the two answers for this question ^^

My case is quite weird. I am a total fan of Space and Sci-Fi-Games. Played the crap out of X3 and tons of Space Strategy games, etc. But somehow I never managed to fall over Freelancer.
So I bougt that now and played a little. It's awesome, especially for a game this old. But I also googled for Mods, because I know great games have great communities and therefore Modders.
Crossfire seems to be the perfect mod to get the best out of this game in my very first singleplayer run.

And now I recognised, after so many years, the best mod will become even better! So of course I dont want to play my first epic playthrough with 1.9 if the perfect 2.0 is knocking at the door.
The big reason for me to play 2.0 -> I read you cant pause in 1.9, but in 2.0 it is possible again, because you can select Single- or Multiplayer gameplay. Is that correct? Pause is very important, guys!

To keep it short: I never played Freelancer before and I want to play it with the best athmosphere possible. But I need this mod to do that... soooo I'm interessted on every hint on the possible release.
I hope the "Zero Bug Bounce" Curve is low though :S

  • Pausing the game is possible for 2.0 - we solved that "circumstance" from 1.9 already. Besides that - a release date is unknown. We're trying to do our best at every possible time frame we have available. We want the release to be as bug free as possible. We're on a good way though. I am not sure if waiting is required. You can at least use cf1.9 to get known to the universe - and i mean npcs, exploration and so on. Its always worth to get some impressions by now and not until the next release comes out. If you start now then you do not need to wait, twirling your thumbs^^

  • Hi and a warm WELCOME, Flashpoint

If I remember correctly (AGES ago) in Freelancer "vanilla" you can pause the games by hitting "F1" at any time, even if you're flying or fighting in space.
This "F1" doesn't work in Crossfire Singleplay or only if you're docked or landed.
    BUT ...
By minimizimg your screen (hit "windows" together with "m") you can also pause the game, i.e. for some urgent buissness in the bathroom :P .
After your buissness just click the "CF" icon in the task bar and you're right at the point where you left the game. :)

Aaand ... don't wait until CF 2.0 is released. You would give away a lot.

    First :
You'll get used to the installation procedure. It is not that simple and requires some attention.
Especially FOLLOW THE PRESCRIBED PROCEDURES TO THE WORD AND IN EVERY DETAIL. Informations given HERE as well as HERE might prove helpful, when - at least - the "stickied" are read in advance.
If still something doesn't work - just ask (there were recently some probs due to changes in some OS and security suite programs).

    Second :
You'll get used to the much more "challanging" gameplay that Crossfire offers compared to "vanilla" FL. And some "training" I think is really recommended when entering the added continuation of the storyline. ;) TBH : the original NPCs are "easy-peasy" compared to Crossfire.

    Third :
You'll be stunned by WHAT CF 1.9 already offers on atmosphere and might ask yourself : "What the hack can be done even better here ?" The bigger will be the OOHHHHs and AAhhhhs, when CF 2.0 will be released. Therefore your enjoyment will be doubbled : first playing astonishing CF 1.9 AND then being even more surprised by comming CF 2.0. :D
BTW regarding what a human can experience : CF 1.9 can safely be called "BUG-FREE".

    HAVE FUN

  • Boah, thank you NucNuc!

The tipp with windows+m is perfect!

Also, you convinced me play 1.9. I read that it is possible to play an "Open Singleplayer". I think I get to know the CF Universe this way and will play the full Storyline after 2.0 is out and maybe hotfixed once or twice. Maybe I have time to install and play it this weekend.

  • You're welcome

    Lil' last "tip" :

Regarding the "challanging" npc's in CF ... TBH : I often play on the the server just to "train" myself for the storyline ^^ ,
'cause there they are even harder :ninja:
