  • Greetings,

I though buying a new Rig, by pieces to mount it myself, like this:

    Item -- Units -- Price

    Code
    1. Intel Core i7-3770 3.4Ghz Box Socket 1155 1 214.05
    2. Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H 1 94.21
    3. Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO CPU Cooler 1 15.66
    4. Kingston HyperX PnP DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB (2x4GB) CL9 1 33.88
    5. Samsung 840 SSD Series 250GB SATA3 Basic Kit 1 138.02
    6. AeroCool Strike-X One Advance USB 3.0 1 37.19
    7. Cooler Master GX Lite 700W 1 51.24
    8. Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti OC 2GB GDDR5 1 138.02
    9. Liteon IHAS120 Grabadora CD/DVD SATA 1 13.64
    10. B-MOVE TouchLight Led Green/Blue USB 1 16.49

So a total of 825.95 € (yep, Euros not Dollars from here, I don't plan to buy one in like, the US and bring it all the way here to probably gain some Euros and risk the whole thing)

Already got a Gaming Mouse, so I don't need one, same for a 2TB HDD.

    The case looks like this:

Though there are higher def images on google, and videos on YT.

The keyboard, for it's price... with green and blue led lights (switchable) for all buttons:

The reason of this thread is, the combination of parts and configuration is correct, but what do you think of the Rig, and price ? Will it hold for long, comments, etc...

Even though AMD Processors are cheaper, and seem to have as much as power (but not the same CPU tech, Intel has 22 nm, and AMD may release 28 nm soon, for now 32nm being the best they offer), they don't use their full resources due to not being supported by the software, and such (apparently some issue with motherboards & chipset with the rest of the rig), so for now, they just heat more, and have less speed and power than an i7 at renderizing.

There was an Off Topic thread similar to this, but well, it's too old.

  • Mike im not uberPC freak but few thing always worth in PC build:

    1. RAM more is better
(for graphic card and monitor u have you tube reviews... dunno what is best right now)

2.PSU (power supplay) brand name if s possible $$$

3.mechanical keyboard $$$ (trust me on this)

and one more litle thing => cool mause :)

  • Yeah, about RAM, Kingstom HyperX is the top RAM serie, and with 8 GB I should have enough for now, I can add 8 more later with no problems :D

The most important thing is actually the Motherboard (where everything goes on, if this is old, you can forget about better RAM, more RAM, better grahip cards, etc), and the CPU, that does all the math.

that is a problem when you want to upgrade the memory will not be for sale. Old trick. 16G or 32Grrecommended.

In my opinion all "brand" motherboard and CPUs do a job.

    ps
    mause G 500 logitech => 3 years warranty.

  • Since this PnP HyperX version I took was released in 2012 (at least here), I doubt there'll be problems with upgrading, anyway, this motherboard can fit 4 Ram cards, and I can add any type of Kingston drives that may appear in the near future :D

  • What for ?

It's not better than this, at least the one of a price similar to this one... xD Not the 2000 € ones which are the same technology as this, but way overloaded.

Well, as I liked those, I checked it.

A PC with a bit better version of my Graphic Card, and i7 3820 (instead of this i7 3770 ) and with NO SSD (Solid State Drive, the new HDD), total price 1.728,99 € , and I'd receive it by Christmas.

They do look nice tho, but this one too...

  • Both :D

Santa agreed to help with it since before Christmas, so by then I already enjoy this for over a week :D

  • I really think that video card is no-go - have a look at this http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
I have a GTX 580 and a GTX 550 Ti - BIG difference (also in price :) - If you can, spend a little more on the GTX, maybe a GTX 660.

  • Having AMD Phenom, 2-3 HHz. Still holding MW3 (yep) on max, and, moreover - C&C3 with NE addon and Tiberian Essence (pimps up graphics as max as possible) :)

Ya, that's a good idea if I could double the money for the graphics card... This GTX 650 TI has 1200 less "points" than GTX 660, though the difference in price is noticeable, and the GTX 660 TI doubles that difference, but it also doubles the price.... so at least the combination of power / price is worth it.

Anyway I'm not sure what benchmark points are those... on other games the GTX 650 TI OC and 660 TI had much less distance between them, maybe cus of the "Over Clocked" part at this TI version, as on the benchmark you shown, none of them are over clocked. Sounds fair :D

Anyway, this can play Crysis 2 on all max, and not lose FPS more than the normal one (with this i7 setup), so I guess that should be enough for now... is also way above Recommended specs for Crysis 3, of this February, which sure asks a lot as the GTX 550 or 580 is mentioned in the "Recommended" line, and i5 core, for running the game on medium performance.

    Edit:

    Well, found this:

    Videocard Value (G3D Mark / $Price )
As of 14th of December 2012 - Higher results represent better value

    GeForce GTX 480 21.27
    Radeon HD 7870 19.54
    GeForce GTX 650 Ti 19.46

Looks like it's pretty much on Top 2 for performance/price.

Thanx for the good link ^^

  • No, that's copied and pasted like that.

It's the GTX 480 who is the cheapest one compared to it's performance/power.

The GTX 680 costs a ton compared to what it can do... compared to the OverClocked GTX 650 Ti , the GTX 680 Ti can do 1 quarter more FPS, and equivalent Benchmark points, but it costs MORE than Double :D

  • 7870 = baus for the pricing

The cooler master psu is okay, but i would rather suggest going with corsair, seasonic, xfx (their PSUs are made by seasonic) or NZXT
I bought a GS700 yesterday and so far very happy with it. Great for the price.

And dafuq is a bmove touchlite?

  • The led retroiluminated keyboard, but I changed it with one a lil better, which was also in stock.

I saw the Corsairs... nice, but can add those later.
