  • Hello everyone. First of all i would like to point out that i used the search function and browsed trough 20+ pages of topics and did not find a answer to my issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My problem is that after doing everything according to index.php?page=FaqDetail&category=7#question12 when I am supposed to go into fmm to activated the crossfire I do not get the pop up window that allows me to select the mod option. After ~10mins of waitint to activate it completes it but if i launch Freelancer trough the fmm or the normal game the font becomes ridiculously small and whenever I try to launch off the planet for the first time , the game grashes. If i try to use the Crossfire launcher from the fmm/mods/crossfire/exe folder it downloads the updates and after I press the launch singplayer nothing happens. If I use the crossfire exe from the freelancer game directory / exe it doesnt even download the updates it just gives me some error ( Run-time error '53': File not found: CF_CL.dll ). For what its worth this isnt a hardware problem and the operating system would be Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

To avoid any doubts: I havent played Freelancer for a few years so this was a... as fresh as you can get... install. I installed FL, restarted PC, made sure game worked by entering the menu, installed FMM 1.31. deleted the mods that were there by default. restarted pc, made sure the game worked by entering the menu trough the launch freelancer in the FMM program. (So far so good, and whilst in the menu the font wasnt ridiculously small ). After that i procedeed with installing the Crossfire 1.9 into the FMM directory /mods/ crossfire. After the instalation completed I started Fmm and tried activating crossfire 1.9 but i did not get the option chosing pop up screen. it just started loading it and after ~10 minutes of waiting and fmm going program not responding it activated it. After that whenever i tried to start FL trough the normal game or FMM the font is extremelly small and the game crashes when I try to launch for the first time off the planet. If I use the crossfire launcher from the mods instalation it does not do anything after downloading the updates and selecting single player. Sorry for repeating myself.

I am fairly certain that the problem comes from me not being able to see the options when im trying to activated crossfire.
I am waiting for anyone kind enough to help me. Cheers

  • Hello again. I wanted to say that after hours of trying to figure it out i managed to make it work. While I tried everything i could think of/saw on the forum ( disabling the antivirus , remove the read only , run as administrator, compatibility, restart after each install and so on ), the thing that worked, and i'm 99.9% sure this was it, was the Crossfire 1.9 install directory. Originally I tried installing it in the FMM directory/mods and it did not really work, and then I tried various other things but the thing that nailed it was the installation directory. You need to not change it . By default Crossfire will be installed in your FMM directory and that's the right way. So for the others who are having/ will have these problems, don't bother changing the installation directory when you're installing the Crossfire mod. Just leave it the default way and that should be where you installed your Freelancer Mod Manager.
I am using Windows 7 x64 and it's working great. For those wondering I installed freelancer, restarted the pc, installed the freelancer mod manager, restarted, installed the crossfire mod in the default installation path and it worked.
Thanks again for the wonderful mod!

  • Good, nice to see you discovered the issue, and even more, telling it for others :)

Indeed the whole thing is done to be simple, for the ones who want to keep it that way. As you might have noticed, in the folder you chosen to unpack, you see some more files and a "mods" folder only containing the CF. Making it in a way that the mods folder go to the mods one from the FLMM makes it work.

Gratz, hope you chosen your options at your pleasure.

Now, time to have fun and,
    Enjoy ! ^^

  • Hi guys,

I had the same problem for over two weeks and was confused that i couldn´t play crossfire.
But I tried your advice and unbelievably the mod runs and the system is stable.
So I played the hole night until jet.

Thanks to all of you guys for this great mod and this expierence.

    see you

  • I have been having this problem as well, except that when I install it to the default directory, it doesn't show up in FlMM.
