  • So the "other way to install CF" you meant to be possible is what you've written about this whole uninstallment stuff (even if i'm not really convinced that it'll work, but i'm also not going to risk my working 1.82 for recti- or falsifying ^^) and then install CF just like all of us with the FLMM?

This will work 100% i used that way many times, and this the "fastest" way...believe me...idk how many times.I really don't know why, but this procedure step by step works for me every time. And i never mocking with ppl when it comes about serious things.

To your answer relating to the save game question - i'm honest: because i was never able to get 1.8(1) working on my PC i just deduced from my experience with 1.7 and 1.82 that the old savegames will work. IMHO it would be a little bit strange if a "bug fixing release" is working with thesave games from older versions but not with the ones from 1.81. But if you have other experiences, so i wouldn't neglect this possibility.
    So can you confirm this?

why u never was able to get 1.81 working on ur PC? Maybe i can help you, cos i use very old machine (10 years).
And i can not confirm this, but from my experience(thousands of hours) i always uninstall/delete all, and then fresh install (maybe this can be a reason why i never finished any SP campaign CF relative ;)) however you have to know...i like MP!

can you send me a private message, i will reply...maybe we can find solution for ur issue!

    MP rulez ;)

  • CF1.81 savegames do work with CF1.82
CF1.7 savegames do not work with one of the 1.8x versions

Uninstalling everything do NOT work as Bond said of fast....

While I was downloading the mod, which took 20 mintues with 800 KB/s
I renamed my old folder(5 seconds ? ), pressed 1 button at FLMM which took 5 seconds more as there was nothing to backup, and copied again a fresh install in 5 minutes, in barely 6 minutes Everything was Clear for installing the 1.82 mod, and I also had time to make a manual of it with screenshot and uploading 2 of them to imageshack (see the download was at 64 % or so)...

Just using CTRL-R on FLMM without renaming the folder takes at least 5 minutes, more than my full cleaning :D Then your uninstall FL (which don't work pretty well as it's not FL anymore, that's why you have to use CCleaner, restart your PC etc), uninstall CF (the ? ) uninstall flmm or whatever... :P

Don't want to be a nitpicker, but:
i have a savegame from the 19th june 2009 (i bought a Komodo Dragon on Vega this day) and it's certainly working and certainly not from a CF 1.8x

But may be i'm just lucky.

  • no you are not lucky
coz the reputations do not fit, npcs do act totally different if you use old savegames

  • Okay, so my definition of "it works" differs from yours :-)
Being merely a consumer of your mod i actually never thought the reputations might be changing between your mods.

well Galactus is running CF 1.82 and all he did was uninstall all freelancer nad simply made sure everything was deleted... saved his account ID and re-installed all files without changing any names or anything like that!!!

May the shwartz be with you!
    :D

  • Lol you speak like changing a folder name is harder than all that :D

You neither loose your ID !
Changing a name is slow double click on an icon and type "CF" DONE !. And my installation still works, as I do need the Phoenix mod for library, I kep it there jsut renaming it's folder... this way also fits with installing mroe mods on a same PC, notice that all those Freelancersomething were installed mods, not FLMM mods. And all were working great :P

And Yes, there are more ways to do it , like uninstalling everything, but I had no time for that, and I said that way is if you're in a hurry to get ready for teh mod :P
Bond arrived online over a day later.... I was there in 25 minutes.

  • i think you may have missed the point to why i dont want to do that... the easiest way for me is to just re-install everything and while its installing, i can relax and hang out with my kids...

May the shwartz be with you!
    :D

  • oh, meaning you don't care how much time it takes, just that you will have free time :D

Well, it depends on how fast it's downloading for you, you could fully finish it in about 40 mins, then have free time without worrying the install don't work or something :D

Anyways, have fun and enjoy it !! :D

  • yup thats pretty much it... unless they are napping while im getting it goin :P
then i would do it the "faster" way
