Freelancer reset after landing on toledo

  • I had a problem, that freelancer (the cool space-flying and freelancing game) made a complete reset, after i landed on planet toledo in omicron minor. (the storyline takes you to this planet) The ship was set to old starflier (i had an anubis), and my rep was completely reset to zero (I had a + rep with corsairs only, but that could be an individual bug), and i was stuck between omicron minor and omicron beta systems, and with no chances to get home... B-A-D!!!, but i searched the internet, and found... Nothing. Just a few idiots identifying the problem and no solution anywhere. Though, i should thank them, coz they pointed to m13.ini file. I checked it out, and compared it with any working mission m[number].ini file, and the difference was all of it. Anyway, if You encounter this problem, this is what You should do:

    1. Find the installation cd image.

    2. Unrar

    3. open CAB1.cab file with winzip

    4.locate and extract file ''m13.ini''

    5. Open Freelancer's program file directory

    6. DATA >> MISSIONS >> M13

7.Replace the m13.ini file you find there with the one you got from the CD.

8.Play and finish the game,( ) and/or post a reply, and put a thankyou  or WTF  in it

    (explanation of the problem below)

Apparentely you have been modding freelancer. Some older mods have bugs, that they simply cant install without BOTHERING the original game files. What happened, is that your mod has replaced original mission file with some savegame. So no animations, no explanations, just blown rep and a crapship (compare with capship) and nowhere to go. So, anyway, solution is above, please reply :D !

  • thank you for sharing, its the first time that i hear about such a problem but on the other side im not playing the singleplayer that much (except for modding purpose)

it is good that you have found a solution for the problem
and i might have an explaination how this problem appeared
to me it looks like that you previously had something installed that used an opensp variation which alters the m13.ini
openSp mods are offered in different version with different methods to disable the storyline
the m13.ini is used in most of them
many mods meanwhile have openSp included either as feature or as "excuse" for not getting the normal singleplayer running on that mod

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • got the same problem - and no, i´ve only installed the crossfire mod and have used the opensp only once without saving the game:)
dunno why it´s happend, but i´ll give the solution a try :) sounds better to me than complete reinstall.

doesnt work this way - there is a m13sp.ini too- so i copy the m13.ini , replace it and copy it renamed as m13sp.ini again and replace the old m13sp.ini with it.
Than just start with the last missionsave (after entering nomads lair i think) and it should work.

if the m13sp has the same size as the openspm13, you know now where the problem is.
