Ok so i installed crossfire 1.81 a couple days ago and i love it to bits but im on mission 9 when you have to attack the arch and kill Tekagi and its fricken impossible, im using the freighter you get in kyoto base but no matter how well i fly i keep getting shot down i cant even get past the first wave of fighters, i also tried buying the light fighter from the base but it doesnt have enough firepower to take down the enemies. I was wondering is it possible to go to one of the new systems and get a badass ship and some weapons and come back to finish the story? and if so, whats the easiest way to get there from kusari. Sorry for sounding like a noob, i hope someone can help.
I'm stuck on mission 9!

Ok I had similar problems and there are some things you can do and some things you might have problems doing...
The main problem will be your reputation, it means most of the places you would normally go to buy ships and upgrades might be hostile to you... try going a bit further afield to the border systems to find higher level ships...
Try going back to a save where you don't have a way point mission (even if it's to talk to Juni) and go to the CF systems then, if you try to go to CF systems with a single player mission objective the game crashes when it tries to plot a path back to your objective.
You basically need to make good use of the time between missions to get upgrades and better ships, once you earn enough money it will tell you to go talk to juni but you can refuse to go with her on the next mission more often than not. That's the time you can use to really make some money and get the best ship you can.
I am not sure if I managed to get ships from CF systems during the SP campaign but it is possible... you just have to figure out how to do it when the game is not plotting a path to your next objective, as that seemed to be the problem making the game crash and you are then stuck with going back to an earlier save...
try saving money for the upgrades you can buy at the bases in the house systems, and use the changes in Reputation to get into bases when you can. Try making your reputation neutral once you have enough money by blowing up storage depots of the factions you are most green with, then you can go out and buy up the upgrades before continuing the mission...
basically you should explore as much as possible when you can, dock with every base you come across looking for those upgrades

At any mission, any level, (easyer at the beggining but well), you can trade with a freighter in New York,from planet Manhattan to the station in front(Newark), then take the Custodian gate near Rochester junker's base, avoid the mins on the other side, go to Arena which will be neutral whatever you do, and always you can dock the docking moor under/above the docking gates of a planet, and buy good weaponry and stuff, and ships from arround

Turns out i couldnt buy any of the new ships anyway due to the level requirements but i finally managed the mission by buying a barracuda heavy fighter. i hope i never see another kusari drake as long as i live, theyre so small and fast you cant even hit them, it must have took me nearly an hour to kill the last 3 of the bastards.

Usually, the moment, i got to Kusari in the Storyline campaign, i went to Battleship Nagumo in Kyushu & bought myself a Dragon. Then it`s quite easy. When it got too easy for me, i did the missions in a Hawk

Well, since u are playing SP then, can use a trade route which used to be a trader's favourite b4 dynamic economy was enabled.
Its b/w leeds and NL.
Ull have to figure out the commodity.
Make 10mil and go buy a reaper or something.
and then SHOOT NOMADS AND TAKE THIER GUNS.
