So I have a quick question. I've been playing crossfire and found it to be a rather interesting mod, especially the sol thing. Anyway, my roommate here at college got interested in it too and decided to buy, install, mod, and play Freelancer. I aided him to that end using my Freelancer CD. He downloaded the mod and FLMM 1.31 had a pain-free install (damn him!) and now he's playing it. The thing that gets me is the differences between our two versions. He downloaded Crossfire from the same site I did, moddb or something like that, used my Freelancer CD for the vanilla install, and only changed a few settings when activating the mod. The odd part is that his Starflier is cruising at upwards of 400. My Eagle is still doing the standard 300. Is that something that was only changed in the Starflier or is something wrong with my install, or what is going on? Any insight, theories, or explanations would be appreciated. Oh. He's running Crossfire on Windows 7, I'm running Vista.
Differences between Crossfires?

Both ship must cruise in 450 speed. This is default setting.
Sometimes when u r formed at NPC or at ur friend in MP ur speed can be higher until you line up with formed ship. That is what i know.

That's not what I mean. We're not on multi-player at all. I mean, he's got some stuff in his Crossfire that is different from mine. It's mostly cosmetic stuff, like the location crawl that comes up when you exit or dock with something, but there's some differences that I just can't explain, like his cruise speed being higher than mine. I think some, if not all, of what's going on is Vista's fault, but I just don't get it. Like I said, it's not really a big deal, but it is annoying me to death.

Ok do u have installed other Freelancer mods?

Nope. I got nothing but Crossfire

For you, maybe a firewall or an even weirer version antivirus blocked the scripts when activating the mod...
Have you got another mod(which now is deleted) or some FLMM included mods installed before reinstalling this game ?
But this bug at both of you... is very unusual, actually the first time in some years..., wait for OP R8R's reply

cruise speed has not changed for several years
the only difference between CF1.8 and previous versions is that normal engine speeds might be different depending on the ship class (light fighter, heavy fighter, freighter)next to that you can find a change log coming with every version of the mod
there you will noticed a few thousand changes between the different versions (whatever you downloaded) -

Okay then. So it sounds to me like we're both screwed up or something? Ah well. It's all good. Crossfire works, it works well, and that's all I really care about. I was just curious about what was going on is all.

If "upwards of 400" = 450, then your friend's Starflier is working correctly.
But your Eagle is definitely wonked.
("Wonked" is a technical term meaning "messed up").
Normally, the launcher will update the Crossfire files, as long as you launch Crossfire while connected to the Internet. If the update happens correctly, then your Eagle should be repaired.
If launching while connected to the Internet does not fix your Eagle, then your Crossfire installation is wonked.

There's a speed mod included with FLMM... one possible reason of what's happening to you (if the speed is the only thing bugged you have ) is this:
- You had speed mod activated before(or by mistake)
-Activated Crossfire
-Noticed other mods are not allowed, and deactivated t he speed mod.
-Now you have no mod activated except CF, neither something else... but when you deactivate the speed mod, it doesn't just deactivate the speed, it turns it back to normal of 300, instead of the CF normal. If you only see a speed bug, I will send you a file that you have to replace yours, and it gets fixed, this, so you don't have to delete all, reinstall and activate FL and CF, and whatever next.
The file I will send(if you wish), will fix the speed mod whatever the bug is, and whatever reason it has
You agree with taking the file ? or reinstall all.

You should take the file.
