What combination of ship and shields will allow one to survive contact with more than one Dom Kavash fighter/bomber/gunboat/whatever?
I've played FL forever and CF1.7 and 1.8 a bit but can't get around even Vortuka muchless an actual DK system.

A battleship.
a battleship can stand few DKs, but a fast fighter (for MP), can stand even 10 DKs and more, if you do the storyline, you get allyed with DKs, to hunt the other aliens that invaded our galaxy.
Take it you didnt explore the new systems in Sovetskya
or Vortuka .. these systems hold most of the new crossfire ships .. wasted opportunity ..
and maybe a little hint: DK gunboats (those space-fish as crysis calls them) can fire only forward
sry Naomy, that was in CF 1.7.
Now the DK Gunboats also fire behind, so, if you fire his @$$ by behind, you will receive 1 DK gun all the time
Only problem Naomy they dont come at you in ones now ..lol
Just a heads up folks, there are now in CF1.8, MKII level 10 molecular(Adv. Barrier) and positron(Adv. Brigandine) shields around the Sirius sector, with specs roughly comparable to the lvl 10 graviton(Adv. Champion) shield found in Hiruga.(courtesy of the SMG of course)
So anyone who asks, so what, why the new shields to even things up?
Well, here's how the original Freelancer shield - weapon circle works:
Graviton protects best against Laser, Photon and Pulse projectiles, worst against Particle and Plasma projectiles.
Positron protects best against Neutron and Tachyon projectiles, worst against against Laser, Photon and Pulse projectiles.
Molecular protects best against Particle and Plasma projectiles, worst against Neutron and Tachyon projectiles.

Yes, from courtesy of SMG, but one of the MK II shields are courtesy of IOCs

Not necessarily. Both MKIIs I've seen were in systems not owned by any clans and your post confirms my suspictions as well... There is more than one location for the shields. (THANK YOU OP!)
@OP
Does the Shield vs Weapon type work like Arkane wrote above in 1.81?
It would be great for pvp and tactics if it worked like that.

Hey Cpt. Gonzo! I'm not OP, but if he has not messed with the original Freelancer code regarding shield vs. weapon type,(which I suspect he hasn't in light of this addition to 1.8 ) then yes it works exactly like that. I'm quite sure this is what OP intended as to not only break the "shield monopoly" any clan could exploit, but require a pilot to consider what shield he should use regarding the enemies they plan to confront and to the point, the weapons he expects to face.
Now that the shields specs are all roughly comparable, it boils down the weapons of your enemy vs. your choice in shields and could make the difference in suffering either limited damage to your shields/ship or possibly getting turned into space debris.
Well if it really works it's great news for me.
This will ad a little flare considering which guns and which armor combinations should a pilot use.
Nice if it is true, tnx for the info mate!

Thanks to you and everyone for the info. I did find the markII version shields in a couple of systems.
Now my question is what the heck kind of guns are the DK's using? Plasma?

No problem Stl_Rich! :]
Well as far as the DK weapons go, now that I've had a proper expedition into deep DK space and seen them up-close and first hand, I'm wanting to say you are correct. I remember them being called, "Dom'Kavash Pulse Cannons" and that the description of them says they are indeed plasma-based.
Well, for what OP would bother to put at alien's wep's description the thing "Not much is known about this wep etc it's a plasma gun and it's dangerous. "
