I couldnt find the place to post this or to find a post like this soooo, I would just like to say that I love the new look of swat forums. Currently I am using windows 7 (released version) and the forums make me feel like I am more into 7 than before. Everything you did to it looks great. Thank you for the redecoration OP!, or whoever it was

Abs, the new design is fantastic, was about to share it ;]

Yeah, looks much better, although i'm growing a bit tired of forums with light writing on dark background
-
How about one of the other styles you can choose? Bright yellow might be just your thing then.
-
bright yellow's kinda .... mauve
-
no pink, no awesomeness
HOWEVER, blue gives you an extra point
in conclusion the new look is "no awesomeness + extra point = good"
im happy
-
it's a level up from the old style, i like it.

Its a more modern look which i announced to be introduced in december. However I felt the need to create that look last weekend as a way not to think about an issue which worries me... but thats not important for you.
The new look - here it is (at least the first part of it).
Eventhough many graphics had to get changed and the fact that i had to edit a few thousand tables on somewhat more than 1000 templates the work took less time than i expected. This forum style will be the offical style from now on... the other styles will still be available to choose. BUT since the new style contains many bugfixes I will give NO support to the old styles anymore. They are simply outdated. Whenever i have much more time I will create other styles based on this (SWAT 2.0) style. -> yeah ive choosen the name by purpose to show that such developments do not have to take more than one year to get finished... just about 40 working hours on one weekend.
Good thing is this new style has been designed to allow the creation of other modern styles in just a few hours (so a bright style is very likely being created soon).Next to the style update ... or better to say with the style update some further forum code updates have been done last weekend to improve the forum features. Some bugs have been fixed. A transparent png support for old IE versions has been introduced. A DDoS protection has been included. Several areas of the forum got re-arranged so information can be found faster. And last but not least this forum finally does automatically resize images -> no more screenshots and signatures which destroy the look of the forum with stupid scrollbars.
There is a last issue with IE6 that i want to get rid off this evening and a few images will also get replaced. But then the work on the forum is done for now.
Ohh I forgot to mention before that the forum main site as a calendar support now. It will show private and public calendar entries (if there are some)... the private of course only for you. So now the calendar can be used for organizing stuff much better... putting reminders on it... or managing events.
Public events (visible to everyone) can get set up by every SWAT moderator. So if Event managers want to announce their events then they should write a pm to the moderators.Hope you like that stuff... it wont be the last change on the forum (as it always get new improvements every few months)

Calendar's cool. Guess i should start hauling beer so it's cold by Friday
-
ok btw. the group bars on the left side right below the avatar have been put closer together so there is less scrolling involved
and the request for a bigger quick reply has been answered with a bigger quick reply

i find the new look very concise and more userfriendly and ahm modern than the old ones.
Well done OP - thats hell of work.Going to looking for other styles based on this one

Having grown fond of the old layout, I'd have probably whined if I knew in knew advance this was going to happen. Arriving to this today was quite refreshing though, and I must say this is the best looking forum I have ever visited.

IE is really a pain in the ass for developments for webbased stuff...The newest (was it the 8th?) isn't that bad. I would say, it is almost good, but it's no use, since still half of IE users have versions 4-6
To all those people out there: GET AN UPGRADE, DAMN IT! IT'S FREE AND EASILY DONE!!
