This weekend (30th May...) I want to re-initiate the Crossfire server. Originally this was planned with the Crossfire 1.8 release but since i am not sure how Crossfire will run on windows 2008 I intent to install it now and do some tests in the next few weeks.
If the performance is better than with win 2003 and if the CF tools are running well on that system we will stay on this system and no further changes on the server side will be needed. Otherwise we will switch back to win 2003 (but this time to 32bit version to ensure the compatibility of several tools).
These changes are neccessary to raise the performance of the server. Since I have to do massive backups the server might be a bit laggy on saturday afternoon. Sunday morning the server will be offline for about 3-4 hours. I will get the server running as soon as possible but very likely the server will be a bit laggy on sunday afternoon since I have to download the backups again and setting up the services. The dynamic economy will very likely be deactivated till monday.
If somebody already has experience with Win 2008 and its performance then Id be glad to get some info. Also some info about its 32bit support would be cool... or if there are tools which can run/simulate processes in 32bit mode (better than the win 2003).
