    Well I was pretty bored yesterday and I made this - it's kinda lika a suggestion for how (I imagine) the portal (Portal2) could look like.


    IMHO the logo kicks ass! :D And the brushed metal background is pretty nice too :)


    But first I want to give a link - it's the same image, but only with some comments about what is what :) I give it out first, because the normal image is so big that you'll probably skip over the link :D

    Sorry, had to vote "no" since there was no "i can't make up my mind coz i suffer from a terrible case of decision-neurosis"-option.
    I hate the brushed metal look, i'm looking at that all day at work. And i prefer websites with a light background.


    But all in all : Content and clear structures rule, looks are second.


    Just my 2 cents.

    I like it really besides the idea to change the portal software (what propably will not be changed as fast^^ )....

    No I just used photoshop. I originally intended to edit the page w/ Firebug, but won't show images on my HDD for some reason, so I 'shopped it :)


    And actually I'm pretty sure smth like this can be done on the old portal software


    P.S.: Maybe we can try to convince OP just to change the logo :))

    If we both think on the same, then I think you should perhaps try the SWAT sign in another colour, it doesnt really fit the part right of it (by colour only, the rest is great)

    You mean the SWAT badge? Naah it can't change - the badge, the color and SWAT Portal are associated with each other. It's brand recognition, and it'd be baaaad to ruin it.


    P.P.S.: another idea: see the "your portal to the galaxy" underneath "SWAT PORTAL" in the header? some cool random text could be shown there :) ("your portal to the galaxy", "official home of crossfire" and whatnot)

    I voted yes! This is totally awesome Magnet! Excellent job!


    I really like how the layout is condensed and concise.. no endless scrolling.. and everything is right in front of you.


    I don't mind the colors, either. And your right, that SWAT Portal logo is sweet!


    I hope if we adopt this, that the same format will continue on the other pages of the site too.. could make it much easier to find stuff! :D

    imagination is nice... reality is different
    i doubt that such changes are possible... exspecially since magnet usually ignores compatibility


    next to that I dont like this flat, monotone look


    what I could imagine is to have a similar SWAT logo here on the forum... IF the png will work with ALL browsers

    I know OP gave us the opportunity to comment on the previous look of some SWAT stuff


    I like this new look - specially the font types and sizes as my poor eyesight suffers due to the itallic current fonts on the forums -


    So thumbs up for me mate!!

    @OP the PNG should work if you have a certain javascript hack in site's code, which makes IE6 render transparent PNGs correctly (which you should have if you already have transparent PNGs and want them to be transparent :P)
