Have you acturly succeeded in installing this mod?
Have you tried resolving any of the issuses you accounted as large mods like this can sometimes be awquard to install?

I have to admit I found it a bit hard to install the first time round as I was new to this but the search function came in very handy.

Yes, game updates, just like other software updates and antivirus definition updates are bad. FYI, you can choose not to update, but that means no CF multiplayer, because you'll have a different set of (bugged) files. Other mods just leave bugs in the wild 'till the next major release. That's good, according to you. And OP is much too busy to slipstream every daily update in 1.7's setup file.

I had the same problem, and I can say I have uninstalled/reinstalled the game well over 20 times, I know how you feel, the stress really builds up, but once I finally got it working, it was well worth it.

All I can say is what I did to get it to work, first off (The most annoying) I made a fresh installation of freelancer, then I made a fresh installation of freelancer mod manager v1.31, then I re-downloaded the crossfire mod as well as the crossfire patch, then I installed the crossfire mod, then the patch, then I activated the mod (seeing the green bar reach the end without saying error was a BIG relief for me) then once it was activated I went file, then launch freelancer, then when the screen came up with the noding picard I waited half an hour for all the stuff to update itself, after that, i found the game worked perfectly.

Yeah, we've had quite a lot of problems with Vista. Stupid bird.

Now could you please calmly explain what's the problem cos I didn't really get that Is it activation, multiplayer or something else?

Also, I'm sorry for you - you seem to have the unluckiest and most unstable install I've heard of. Do other games crash often too?
Btw, if you get a crash/BSOD when jumping between systems, disable 3D Sound in Options -> Audio.

erm...FL doesnt have CD keys....This game was at a point in time when PC Games didnt need CD keys...2003 if i'm correct...

If I may... Crossfire certainly isn't an easy program to get set up and running, but if one follows the instructions provided here on the forums it is not difficult to figure out. As one who has botched Oblivion mods frequently, I have still been able to get various versions of this mod installed without much difficulty. Also, I have found ways in the past to keep my saved games from SP with other mods and/or vanilla safely stored elsewhere on the PC... so deleting them is not necessary. If it is not any bother to you, by the way, it'd be appreciated if you changed your user name to something more suitable. It is hard to expect people to be helpful and cooperative when one gets such a name as their first impression of a person. :\

younger children don't need to see such things, as (most) kids don't know there meanings
it can be hard for both child and parent when the child accidentally says the word/s at some
place or to someone, people these days usually take children the wrong way when they say
something like that like a...(some random) you get the idea. but if you do have to express
yourself, say it like this F*** you your son of a B***/ alot of kids don't get this and its easier for
the parent to replace the words if a kid asks, a funny example( fart you your son of a bear) LOL
