ok - ill try to patch fl on my pc to reproduce this problem and find the error but that can take some time

If you wasn´t upload any new things just now my solution is (have had the same probs):

after the first download where it stops at file 483
install patch 1.7a
the update will end the downloads
connect and have fun

and op, please, after u finish dealing with update server, pages and stuff, inform us what patches r necessary, and if it would b wise to delete cf1.7e from mod db, since i posted it there too, and it may be obsolete after problems r fixed.

to finish the update process u need to start the single player once (until the menu screen)

after that u shouldn't get E4, but MP button will be active

okay got another prob:
i launch cf, let it update, press "Launch MP". game launches. press "MP" -> Yes -> LAN -> BAM! 24/7 Crossfire = grey. I look at version - 1.7. I look at my version number (bottom right) BAM! 1.70... so the server shows as "incompatible"

okay edit: when i press "Launch SP", the version number seems 1.7 again and server is compatible...

u did not get the complete update. please let it update, start single player once, then start again to complete update and start MP...

Another 400+ file update? What a drag... I think this is telling me to stay away from CF for a while... maybe from the PC alltogether?

laser we did our best to solve this problem and let players on the server while we had those technical problems
the download of those 494 files is neccessary to ensure the compatibility of client and server version and to prevent crashes

the E4 error wont appear any longer

I did this last night before going online and putting sword to some nasty ruffians in space loitering with intent outside X303 - damn kids should be at home in Tarsus doing their homework.

Anyway, this new update of 4 Trillion files is much quicker than the older one we used to have - you wont even have time to make yourself a cup of coffee - but you need to do it twice as all the files dont download first time - the second time it just takes a few secs.

yes the update should go faster coz its hosted on a much better server

i still think that one or more files did not update properly on ur installation. try a clean install, please.
