It's very funny:

I had technical probs cause my boss has installed a cache proxy. Now that proxy make it possible for me to log on the server and play. The update files are in the cache of that proxy and the launcher doesn't make a difference. The files are old but it works. I'm the only one who can play. Trading is impossible because the update is a few days old.

ok - time for some news
the old server is gone due to a massive traffic overload... dont ask me how that can happen... but if i need to guess i would say that somebody did attack that server somehow and started to flood it

its unlikely that we can get the update server back and it looks like its going to be hard to get the software back that was on that server but ill try my best

the www.swat-portal.de domain is going to be moved to one of the SWAT mainservers and i bet i still have some backups of the CF, BG and those other pages (somewhere)
It could take a few days until the domain has been moved so i here is the backup plan for the next few days.

Tomorrow i will deactivate the dynamic universe and try to release a update file for CF1.7 that will synchronize your client versions with the server version. All you have to do is to launch the MP by clicking on the SP button on the launcher (the mp button wont be active). Dont worry - the server and the client versions will be identical.
Once the transferal of the domain has been finished the old dynamic update system will be automatically reactivated (you dont need to do something). Oh and yes there is a plan C but after discussing it with haegar this is going to be the emmergency for the emmergency

when the .de domain is back again you will be able to access the www.crossfire.swat-portal.de aswell - but you only will see a small page with explaination and instructions... thats enough to play... Its unlikely that i can get the old CF page back this week due to business stuff i have to do until next week but ill do my best to get the page running until next weekend.

oh and time for another good news... if im able to convince my current provider (which is very likely) we can switch the CF server to an even more powerful server than i thought

Thanks for all your hard work OP. We appreciate everything you do.. we will wait as long as it takes. In the meantime, we're creating hangman games, making the word lists longer and some of us are making Lucy rich (at least on email) since she went and turned merc.. LOL.

ok ive just checked the stuff that i have on the SWAT backup server

all the websites are still there (not 100% up to date but ok)
CF, BU, SLC, DB, ASF, CSF, BG, MoD, .... everything

the bad news is that the CF update files are somewhat old (may 2007) so i will have to check if i still have an addition backup of these on CD or HDD

Im sure that i still have all those CF files coz they are part of CF1.8
what im worried about is the update config which contains the info which files are needed and where they belong
maybe i still have a backup of that file but i have to search first
if i find it or if im able to recreate it this afternoon you can expect that i will upload the neccessary files so you can play on the server again this evening

ehmm well for CF1.8 Haegar and I have greated an additional security system
... so we will even have a plan D

the clients will be cross-linked with 2 update servers in order guarantee 100% uptime
when server1 is offline for some reason server2 will take over its job

Im going to backup my backups at home...then i will back it up all again¡¡¡

today at 11pm gmt a 30mb update is going to be available which gives you the chance to connect to CF again through the SP button

ill post a link to the download when everything is finished

ok the update is basically finished but a few mins ago i had an idea how to add a small security system which can be added to the update in order to prevent servercrashes due to version changes
ill need a bit more time and upload the final update then
