New to CF/few questions..

u cannot run Crossfire in window mode

in 1.7 the Crossfire storyline is done in quests. Read the news.

Don't know about window mode. Maybe there's an option in Settings -> Video... Why do you need the window mode?

Hagar, again our almost identical posts are seperated by two minutes...

-w MAY work for original FL, which launches instantly after clicking on the shortcut. But CF has a launcher, that launches CF in fullscreen. Editing the launcher may help...
Hagar, if window mode is possible for original fl, then maybe if the launcher had a "launch in window" option, CF could be launched in a window..

atm there is no intention to do a new launcher (this one - V1.56 - runs just fine, so: better not change it^^)

If you're playing Normal SinglePlayer, then something's wrong w/ triggers. just reload ur autosave. the problem should fix all by itself.

i am spending enough time on software for ppl here...

and making freelancer run in window mode is not really a feature commonly used or even a progress...

future technical progress will be done elsewhere...

Hmm, since window mode isn't available you guys, if you need to multitask to a certain extent you can minimize with the windows start button. Sure you can't run several applications and efficiently use them all at once, but anytime that you're not cruising to a distant waypoint there isn't really much reason in working on other things I would think.

Hi guys I'm new around here.

I have problem in single player mode (story).In the mission when I need to fly with King to capture Ascroft comp restarts when I try to enter Colorado system.Every time.I've re-installed game 2-3 times and same thing happens.
Are you guys familiar with this problem.

Try going into the audio options. If you turn off 3D sound the crashes should stop. Try that and if it doesn't work come back and tell us. One way or another we should be able to help you fix the problem. Have fun.

When you are playing MP, please do not run any other programs as it creates lag on the server.

A good point, but unfortunately 30 days late.

Seriously though, I need to get in the habit of shutting other stuff down again... should apply that once the server is back up. Usually I'd have three or four other programs running - mind you they hardly use any of my processing capacity - but at least I never download while serverside. Intersting though, lag has been very low in the past month or two regardless. Prolly a combination of OP's magic and low serverload.

programs not using online capacity but having a lot of hard disk access do have potential to slow down the game. reason is that FL gets slower access to needed files due to hard disk already in use

I can run MSN, have Windows Media Player running, eat a sandwich and spin in my chair whilst playing FL.
