This brand new update (3.2) is focused on bringing you some engaging new content in the lead up to the larger Quarter 4 update later this year (Chapter 4). We'll have more information coming out of Gamescom about the next update (Chapter 3) next week, so as usual keep an eye on the forums and our social media channels for the latest official announcements.

Today we’re releasing Patch 1.31 on PS4, and it will follow soon on Steam. This fixes a number of issues including:

• Fixed an issue causing some players to crash when accessing the galactic map while having too many waypoints active
• Fixed a crash some players experience when pinning certain tech
• Fixed a crash which occurs when players with particularly long play-throughs attempt to save the game
• Fixed an issue that sometimes resulted in guild missions not crediting correctly

We are sad to report that Wing Commander author Christopher Stasheff passed away June 10, 2018 after a battle with Parkinson's Disease; he was 74. Mr. Stasheff was an extremely talented writer and anthologist known for blending science fiction, fantasy and humor together. He was responsible for several long-running, well known novel series including Warlock of Gramayre, Wizard in Rhyme, Rogue Wizard and Starship Troupers. You can read his complete obituary here.

Mr. Stasheff is best known to Wing Commander fans as the author of Milk Run, the novella which precedes (and prologues) Dr. William Forstchen's End Run in the book of the same name. He was brought in to work on the series by frequent collaborator Bill Fawcett as part of a 'soft reboot' that took it in a harder military science fiction direction. Milk Run is a joy to read as it both captured the contemporary spirit of the Wing Commander

Today’s Alpha Ship Spotlight is focused on the Harbinger class battlecruiser, which serves as one of the Amarr Navy’s primary heavy laser platforms.

Designed almost perfectly to be the baby brother of the Abaddon class battleship, Amarr starship engineering principles are seen at work in most of the Harbinger’s attributes. Heavy armor, a strong line up of turret hardpoints, and systems that give sizeable bonuses to damage and weapons efficiency make the Harbinger a lethal damage platform.

Seen by Amarr officers as a solid solution to ever-increasing numbers of hit and run attacks against Imperial Armed Forces assets by the Republic Fleet, the Harbinger is designed from the keel up to scorch heathens from existence.

The Hornet is a light fighter for the Terran Confederation during the Terran-Kilrathi War in the game "Wing Commander". Maybe some of you played this game in the nineties. Wing Commander is the eponymous first game in Chris Roberts' science fiction space flight simulation. The game was first released for MS-DOS in the year 1990.
