During a Kernel Update this night there was a malfunction of one of the HDDs on the SWAT Main webserver.

The HDD meanwhile got replaced and no data was lost

The few hours downtime has lead to market problems on the CF server which also should be fixed meanwhile (Freelancer restart is required).

Server statistics and player lists will update tomorrow.

Websites of the SWAT network should be a bit slower than usual at the moment as they require to do daily updates and maintenance now.

In a few hours everything should be normal again.

    Stinger

has released a long-awaited update to his

    WCDX

patch for Kilrathi Saga. The program makes a number of critical updates to the game's DirectX implementation in order to improve compatibility on modern computers. WC1 has been the primary focus, but the last couple updates provide initial support for Wing Commander 2. This update refines that and improves stability and smoothness of your WC2 game in Windows. General changes:

    • Patcher internals have been completely overhauled. Ideally, you won't notice any difference, but you should now get better error messages when things go wrong.
    • Due to implementation divergence in the underlying platform, wcdx now handles scaling of the game's graphics internally instead of relying on the operating system.
    • Restored mouse cursor positioning for all games.
    • Much better multi-monitor support.

2012 was a very weird year.

The world did not end, eventhough mass effect 3 was a catastrophy.

Looking back at the year which is almost over I unfortunately have many negative impressions in mind... more negative than positive actually.

Community members which prefer to argue than to work together, the loss of a clan, conflicts between communities, players which complain about every shit instead of making use of what they got and not fulfilled objectives for the year.

Most of the above mentioned stuff had negative impact on the portal.

The lack of help and support aswell all the troubles generated by the players have thrown back the development of CF2.0 by many months. Even worse, it nearly killed the motivation of the team.

I remember 3 times when Huor requested help and got not even a reply.... and I know that people had the knowledge and ability to help. Probably its best if I dont mention how many times I requested help and got no reply during the past year.

    It saddens me that

    • Fixed a crash some players experience when pinning certain tech
    • Fixed a crash which occurs when players with particularly long play-throughs attempt to save the game
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes resulted in guild missions not crediting correctly

We are sad to report that Wing Commander author Christopher Stasheff passed away June 10, 2018 after a battle with Parkinson's Disease; he was 74. Mr. Stasheff was an extremely talented writer and anthologist known for blending science fiction, fantasy and humor together. He was responsible for several long-running, well known novel series including Warlock of Gramayre, Wizard in Rhyme, Rogue Wizard and Starship Troupers. You can read his complete obituary here.

Mr. Stasheff is best known to Wing Commander fans as the author of Milk Run, the novella which precedes (and prologues) Dr. William Forstchen's End Run in the book of the same name. He was brought in to work on the series by frequent collaborator Bill Fawcett as part of a 'soft reboot' that took it in a harder military science fiction direction. Milk Run is a joy to read as it both captured the contemporary spirit of the Wing Commander

Though the troubled times of the Dominion War are in the past, the repercussions of that tumultuous era are still felt to this day. Even now, with even larger threats looming over the region, iconic starships from the fleets of those days can still be found aiding the efforts of the heroes of the Milky Way. Both of these starships feature unique combinations of features never before seen in Star Trek Online, which we’re excited to be able to highlight. The Jem’Hadar Light Battlecruiser [T6] will be the first ship to ever feature two (2) Commander-Rank bridge officer seats, including a rarely-before-seen Commander-rank Universal bridge officer seat. It still has the same total number of seats as other T6 starships, but this unique configuration should offer players some interesting opportunities for ability selection. The Maquis Raider [T6] will be a full-featured Miracle Worker Primary
