Please look on FAQ here for detailed guide how to install/activate CF. But first try remove 'read only' flag from folder /Freelancer/EXE and do this with Freelancer folder too. Then try if launcher update works.

What windows version you have?

could be your antivirus blocking something, set your whole freelancer installation folder as exception in antivirus, maybe that helps

and if it is not the software, it might be the hardware ...

im using Windows 7 x64

remove the write protection from the FL directory and all files and subdirectory in it

hi guys i had the same problem but ive found why it hasnt worked:

Iv a Mainboard called MSI Z97 Gaming motherboard on this there is a gaming utility installed that shows you which games youve installed (AMD Gaming Envolved) if you use it crossfire works but if u use the desktop icon from the mod manager or game or the icon from the directly crossfire installation it dont work !!

Use the gaming utility than it works !

I have this ... utility installed either, but it came with the graphic card or with steam, don't remember anymore.
You don't have to start from there.
If you start FL-Crossfire ONCE from inside the installation folder, then the desktop icon of CF works perfectly (just don't forget to run it as administrator).
And NEVER EVER start it from Freelancer Mod Manager !

problem solved download the step by step it was norton antivirus so i removed it from my pc did step by step with ccleaner and bam no more error messages or conflict 3 days of misery has past and im a happy man see you in space
