    Your problem can be UAC (user account control), antivius (especially Norton) or something else (write protection?) which prevented mod installer (this setup.exe file) correctly install CF files into Flmm/mods. FLMM then do not have necessary files in folder where it search for data which want copy -> error message.

    Edit by
    In FAQ above you have posted exact steps which is needed to do .. especially in cases when problems happens.

  • ... seeing yout error message : game and FLMM not installed on "default path" (somewhere on drive C:\ ...)
    1st question : any special reasons for that ?
    2nd question : have you checked if FLMM has the "correct" path to your Freelancer installation ? (FLMM, "options"-tab, 6th from above)

    Had similar prob once (long ago with 1.9). After using default installation paths on every installer all was fine.
    (Maybe somehting windows related, dunno)

    Other thing about registry clean up prior to installation : pls check manually : regedit/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node ALSO, sometimes not cleaned fully by CCleaner

  • I don't have UAC turned on.My antivirus Microsoft essentials doesn say anything about viruses when i install mod.Ok i try to do this stuff without antivirus.

  • Your antivir and firewall MUST have a possibility to set them manually => excluding files and programs from scan.

    Maybe work on that too.

  • Turned off all antivirus,UAC,Firewall.Redownloaded mod.Installed on default path and same thing:The Interface folder in Data-missing.Is there any possibilities to download non-installer version of the mod?

  • its more likely that your FL installation is not clean

  • I have had your problem too. the mod consists of 2 self-extracting archives, and it looks like only the first one gets extracted. that is why you are missing parts of the mod. I was finally able to solve it by
    -turning UAC completely off
    -making an exception for this program in my antivirus (crossfire setup, freelancer folder, mod manager)
    -running all programs with administrator rights (crossfire setup, freelancer mod manager, CFlauncher)

  • For UAC:
    Disable User Account Control (UAC) the Easy Way on Win 7, 8, or Vista

    For Antivirus:
    Disable is not good enough, some components usually are still running. Follow please advice by Apache and add FL and FLMM folders as also setup file into AV exception list.

  • The file Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Freelancer 2 - Crossfire\DATA\INTERFACE\Intro\Images\startupscreen_16ns.bmp does exist in my mod folder, so something went wrong installing the mod.
    unzipping Crossfire20setup.zip makes 4 files available: _Crossfire20setup.dat, Crossfire20setup.exe, flmminstaller.exe and INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.txt - Please verify that you have these files available.

  • All those files are exist after unzipping.But the mod installer work not very well.Sometimes i need to run it few times to proceed installation(there is a glitch when installer show me to choose language and there is only Button Cancel appear,not button Ok).I redownloaded it few times,disable all antiviruses,UAC and run as administration.Same thing happen-no Interface folder exist in Mod folder after installation,mod cannot be installed via FLMM it get same error again and again)

    please check the size of the extracted folder (what gets put on your pc by crossfire2.0setup)
    it should be around 6.3 - 6.4 GB
    if i's around 5.3, the problem is with extracting the mod itself, which was my case. also, please confirm that the folder in /mods is named Freelancer 2 - Crossfire (path: FLMM installation path\mods\Freelancer 2 - Crossfire)
    so it should not be: FLMM installation path\mods\Crossfire\mods\Freelancer 2 - Crossfire

    DON'T DO THAT !
    The installer works just fine, even if it looks as if nothing happens

    This we heard before too :)

    As also I think saw some advices: (when installer crash on language menu)
    - check registry and clean them (ccleaner did for me good job)
    - Activation problem
    - someone mentioned to me that he solved installer crash with launching launcher under win7 under compatibility mode with WinXP SP3
    - try run installer as administrator (for me on 2 PCs it not worked but for some ppl worked) .. it actually should be set run as admin by itself

    and yes, install mod can take some time .. it is huge thing :)

    Sorry my mistake.I wanted to say that i restart installer few times because i cannot go next because when it show to me choose a language i can hit only CANCEL button and there is no ACCEPT or OK button present.That's why i restart installer few times.

    Interface folder is in _Crossfire20setup.dat file, so you probably didn't unzip/unpack Crossfire20setup.zip, but opened zip via Windows Explorer, which wont work.hth

    I am unzipped the whole setup i don't run it from archive itself.

    Unpacked size is 5.3 GB.the installation path is FLMM installation path\mods\Freelancer 2 - Crossfire.I tryed to install with xp compatibility mod and same thing happen again.

    Can anyone made zipped not install version of mod please?I really cannot understand why mod not extracting in 100%.Other installations of games,programs install normally without problems.

    last edit:ok. i used 7 zip on _Crossfire20setup.dat and unpacked 2 folders:Interface and movies.Unpacked to mod folder and installed via FLMM.Work fine.But i really not understand why this installer not work well on my pc.

  • We also rly want to know a reason why. Problem is that you are so far only one with such specific issue (where not work ways which worked for other ppl).
    _____

    I moved all post into this separate thread, lets see if it is rare or more often happened problem. ... especially with increased number for mod file download

  • I know of at least one case with exactly the same problem abd with exactly the same error message as posted by Parkan in his first post.

    We are doing an augmented de-/re-installation, atm in the phase of new downloading (due to ...sssloooww internet-connection will take quite some time). Therefore your solution Parkan cam - unfortunatly - too late in this second case. We will proceed with the "regular" installation routine to see if the problem remains - and then use Parkans way. ;)

    Findings so far :
    - despite using CCleaner there were several "remnants" in the registry to be cleaned/deleted manually
    - location(s) of these remnant files using regedit.exe :

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Microsoft Games
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node ->Microsoft -> Microsoft Games

    Name of the files to look for and to be deleted, in all of these locations :
    - Freelancer
    - Crossfire
    - Freelancer Mod Manager
    - C07ft5Y

    (And don't dare to ask HOW long it took me to make these findings for myself ............. :totumfall: )
