    Weight reduction utterly useless on a VHF...


    I humbly offer to differ sir. 8) Armor is pointless if you're 1 second faster turning, especially in an already fast turning ship that already has respectable armor.


    Instead of worrying about armor upgrades, try finding a good ship with high hull already that is still relatively nimble/fast turning.


    Put simply, a slower player vs. their target is usually a dead player. So the eternal debate rages on... Speed vs. Armor.

    Actually that would explain a weird "bug" I've run into at times on the server with my weapons groups... Occasionally I would accidentally leave my weapons groups selection on something other than weapons group 1 when I docked and when I would undock, that group and possibly weapons group 2 would all be messed up by either highlighting no weapons or highlighting all weapons... VERY freakin' annoying, as it's caused me to get blown to pieces on several occasions in RP situations and screwed up several duels for me as well in the past.


    There's nothing like the feeling of getting into a heated situation in dogfighting trying to hit up your missiles or torps against an enemy target and you get nothing from the weapons groups, ARGGGGHHH... I hate that crap!!!

    Ahhh, well that's simple! Here's my layout for example:


    WG1 - All guns (used to lock in alternate firing rate)
    WG2 - half of the ship's guns (except sometimes the 8.33 rate guns, this WG is to start the alternate firing rate)
    WG3 - missiles/torp salvo (aka "alpha strike")
    WG4 - auto CM firing
    WG5 - CDs (if I didn't have a 5-button mouse that is haha)


    Some people may have more elaborate setups, but to be able to select your guns or missiles or CDs at will is a very useful thing to have.

    That's an affirmative there A-man, OP said back before 1.8 there would be a character wipe on the server due to the massive amount of new content in 1.8 of which required the wipe.


    Sorry {PHQ}_Interceptor, I remember you guys from back in 1.7, but apparently you've been gone to long to catch up to all that has happened since then,(namely several CF releases since then, we're up to 1.82 now) sorry about your characters, but it happened to all of us last year too.


    Also folks do take note, if you do not log into an inactive character over 90 days you will risk it being deleted as well.(ask me how I know! *facepalm* )

    With all due respect to OP and his handywork, I've got to give Sushi and his team with the upcoming Freeworlds - Tides of War total conversion mod a nod as one of the best as well. The stuff Sushi and Co. have done to the Freelancer engine for the upcoming Freeworlds is nothing short of equally incredible work on par of OP's level of work. Go see the development logs on the MODDB site to see what I'm talking about. Aside from Crossfire 1.9, Freeworlds 2.0 aka "Freeworlds - Tides of War" is arguably the most anticipated upcoming FL mods to be released.


    Gibbon, who also posts here has had his hand in a couple of mods over the years, namely the awesome (but unfortunately defunct) Battlestar Galactica mod as well, which was probably by far the best looking one of the few Battlestar Galatica TC's for FL I've seen pop up over the years.


    While OP is a great modder without a doubt, there are others out there who aren't that far behind him in any stretch and I'd argue to say Sushi's FW team is right up there with him.


    With that said, I wonder just how much more awesome OP could make Crossfire if he got another modder like say, Gibbon, to help him out! :D:D:D;)8).

    Gentlemen, I've already heard enough about the aforementioned trade monopoly BS to last me a lifetime already on this forum and on the SA's.


    I'm not here to dig up old arguments or problems, I'm just repeating what the Fleet Admiral (i.e. you Sam) established months ago.


    With that said, if you wish to change, modify or get rid of them altogether Sam, that's fine too. I'll stand corrected in that case.


    Anyway, enough detouring of Aleks182's thread and ENOUGH talk of trade monopolies already, before OP locks this thread too.

    Aleks182, cloaking is most likely only going to be available to all pilots when CF1.9 is released, until then, you can at least stockpile energy crystals. You'll need it for the cloaking device as it's fuel, but do take note, the Silver Arrows do have a trade monopoly on them. ;):D


    I also suspect from OP's previously mentioned thoughts about cloaking devices in CF 1.9, is that you'll need to complete a quest for it as well to activate it or get access to it.


    Regardless, sit back, enjoy the game and wait for CF 1.9 along with cloaks like the rest of us. 8)

    The Sentinels must have some utter fascination with Sol lifeforms, namely the dolphin, to the point it influenced their ship designers! :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: Almost all Sentinel ships look like that in some way. 8)


    Oh yes, aleks182, you can find Sentinels in Pyrddra, Celldra and Venn in the Inner Core sector.(refer to the Xeno Guide)


    Once I get off my rear from my self-imposed "vacation", I'll schedule a Inner Core expedition against some Seteks/Sentinels and you can see them up close and personal. :thumbsup:

    Slpxatwon left the Server because of the shit you all was throwing on him. You did well Guys - one good pirate less. It already began.


    No Daywalker, Slpxatwon brought his circumstances upon himself, he has no one to blame but HIM, period, full-stop, the end. He was warned numerous times in various recent incidents by not only me, but Psyclone and Micheal as GRs and was disciplined accordingly. If he cannot read or abide by the rules placed on this server or the instruction of a GR, that is his own fault, he needs to go elsewhere if that is how he likes to play FL.


    Breaking server rules, acting out of RP rules, harassing people on the server and disrupting server events does not win people many friends here and does NOT constructively contribute to this server in any way, form or fashion, as I imagine OP would agree.


    Slpxatwon has made his bed, now he shall lie in it, so be it. If he wants to leave, good riddance I'd say. It will save OP the trouble and hassle of eventually banning him anyway, as he was well on his way from what I have read and talked to about from other GRs recently.


    Sorry if you gents lost your "best-paying customer", but there ARE other pilots and clans that need mercs out there too. I'd rather loose one trouble-maker than 20 or so more contributing or more friendly players if given the choice anyday.


    Anyway, let's move on and put this behind us, for the sake of the server, what is done is done. Good day gentlemen...

    Alright folks! I've decided to update this thing, fixing lots of errors, "informational inconsistencies", making some needed changes and so forth...


    So far I've added a universe map (2 actually) to show the locations of galaxies in respect to the Milky Way which I felt was a nice touch and something that needed to be add.(me being the SA's cartographer and all :D )


    So now is a good time to give some suggestions, comments to improve the content or ideas to add to the guide. Sadly I'm afraid this will be a rather rushed update, I'm gonna try to put it out sometime right after Christmas for a nice "present" of sorts.


    Oh yea, don't worry about the updated ship images for now OP! Concentrate your efforts on CF1.9 and whatever else requires your attention, that can come on a later update for the Xeno Guide. 8)
