I haven't posted for sometime now, mainly due to the fact CF1.7 kept crashing after every time it updated with content.dll errors.

In other words, CF1.7 got removed from the computer.

I, like everyone else have waited for CF1.8, and I'll wait for as long as it takes Op to finish / release it, and hopefully, it won't crash as it's, to me, a totally new mod, it's been tested and retested.

Sure, it's frustrating when you hear it's going to be released soon, but it never has been. I haven't a clue what's involved, I leave it to people like OP, I may not agree with his attitude at times, but hell, it's his work, and I respect that fact.

So as far as I'm concerned, until it's released, I'll play whatever mod I want, especially as I paid for the Vanilla CD, and bear in mind without the original, no mods would ever have been released.

To be quite honest, the stills don't truly do it justice as it's how it looks in the game that matters.

So I think in all fairness, it's an excellent rendition considering the limitations of the intro.

In addition, as no one else has even ventured to recreate an intro ship, players should be less critical as one can never fully exploit what the developers had in mind at the time the game was released.

I voted NO, in my honest opinion, there's far too much chatter, weapons sounds, and I prefer a game that uses minimum "noise"

I too got an error that "chromehtml was not a valid protocol" but only on page 2 of this thread.

Simple answer is, it doesn't as it requires a magnetic North to work.

Reason for this question is also simple, The Outcasts state that the Corsairs are to be restricted to the South.

The Zoners state that Freeport 10 requires supplies, "If the Outcasts will allow you to get that far North".

At Leon, we are told that Jump Holes are at points North, East and West.

At Planet Crete / Tripoli, we are told that the Corsairs at Cadiz are "Eastern", whilst the Corsairs at Crete / Tripoli are Western.

There are also references at California, Pittsburgh and even Walker states "Attack Group South".

Yes there is a program to display your temps and other PC info, it's called Lavalys Everest ( free edition 2.0 ) which can be found at majorgeeks website.

I'm not sure if this is topic related, but I e-mailed Microsoft and they in turn telephoned me when I had sound problems, I also mentioned my ORIGINAL CD got damaged ( 3 cracks appeared on the edge of the disk ), as a result, they sent me a redistributable copy as they actually GIVE the game away with new PC packages from various computer stores.

This means, in my honest opinion, that Microsoft now see FL as "DEAD" which is why they no longer sell it.

thank you DwnUndr for the help, but before anyone says something, I'm not editing any mod, just the original game on a 3rd PC, so if I screw up, I can still play the game on one of the other 2 computers.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I find the female voice when docking etc to be extremely annoying.

Is it possible to edit what is actually said, I don't need it to tell me anything other than warning of mines or radiation damage.

The most annoying thing to me is when it says "dock in use, entering Q", to me it sounds almost pornographic considering Q = Quintaine.

No doubt this will raise a laugh even though it's a serious question.

thank you OP, I'm not a modder but I am a 57 year old former merchant naval engineering officer and I tend to notice these things, so I felt I was, in some small way, contributing something.

As can be seen by the arrows, the weapons are not in line, have also found similar errors on other ships, will post as I find them.

And why ask the question in the 1st place?

I already said the game has ran from an original installation that was carried out in May 2008 without one crash until 14 th Jan 2009 when it's crashed 4 times.

I can only assume that this was caused by a file recently downloaded from the server.

However, as per the guide, and the advice from -=[T-R-F]=-Huor_Súrion I removed all trace of Freelancer, FLMM and Crossfire from my computer, ran both CCleaner and my normal registry scanner software in addition to manually checking through the registry, something I've had 20 years of experience with.

So the guide states.

Install the modmanager ( again downloading a fresh copy of 1.31. )
Install Crossfire to the mod manager ( I now have 8 copies of CF setup after downloading yet another copy )
Install Freelancer and rebooted computer.
Ran the launcher ( accepted the license ) updated the files ( client patched ) ran the game up to the main menu, quite the game, restarted the launcher which now said 1.6, updated the remaining files and launched the game.

I've ensured the 3D sound is disabled as per the instructions, and now all I've to do is recover 228,000,000 credits and map every system in the game again.

7 months of hard work wasted.

This only started on the 14/01/2009, and this computer is 10 months old and I've had the same installation for all that time, so it's not a corrupt installation.

I ran CCleaner, no registry errors found.

If you pay attention to the bar at Sol, you can hear Trent and Juni and the dialogue has a definite sexy undertone which could be construed as the two of them "getting it on"

So the possibility of Trent / Juni having a son is there if you think about it.

Although it's pretty odd as Trent is in the bar at the same time as he's on the PA system.

edit again - As the Vanilla Trent was an orphan ( "Tobias sort of raised me" ), the Crossfire Trent could be his twin brother
