bugs?
1.Classic cursor changes to CF #1 cursor(the square one) after making the changes for widescreen 1920*1080 using Magnet's or Black's version. Preferred version is Magnet's camera values with Black's font values;) The color-blind option works perfectly as Marauder has already reported.
I choose classic cursor(without making 1920*1080 changes) log onto SP or MP and the cursor stays classic. After the test,I log out completely, make the 1920*1080 changes then start launcher, log onto SP or MP and cursor is changed to CF #1.
2.3d sound gets re-enabled each time I log on. In CF 1.7, I disabled 3d sound once and it stayed disabled until a reinstall was made.
Chosen settings at 1.81 install are all default settings except classic cursor, advanced shader off, and color-blind cursor.
-edit- While in flight in Dervon the server crashed. When I logged back in(from launcher) my char is in the Dervon bar with no launch icon. Only the launch icon is missing. So I cant launch from the station. Tried rebooting my pc, but no change. What can be done to fix my situation?
ROFL Mellon. Good to see you finally have it all sorted Cya in space matey.
OP, on the RP thread the issue of "retaliation".
I understand all Cops or Pirates are allowed to defend against all mercs going for the bounty. You have addressed that point very clearly.
Are the Pirates or Cops allowed to kill the Mercs in revenge after the Merc has killed the target and the contract is over?
A simple yes or no will answer the question.

... would be a big problem to change sign for loading screen from 1.8 to 1.8a? This way, each easily verified that has the correct version. ... and best if launcher can verify this and not let pass older installation. It would mean a new download, but would guarantee that the error will not be a bad version of the mod.
Sounds like a very good idea.
@ Windie
Try rebooting your pc, that solved it for someone else.
Gentlemen please lets not get into the cheating witch hunt stuff. It will start with the suspicion of a GAY clan member cheating then move to fake char paranoia, etc...... Please, that path has been traveled too many times in the past to ill effect.
Ghostman reported that trains are being used to dock at stations. That would explain a player able to level to 90 in an hour, So obviously there is a bug that needs solving.
@ Gonzo
Duuuude!!!! WB. Strap on yer pegleg and get in space. SMG is still active so you know SZ will have some extra guns when needed
@ Hosti
I had the same exact issue. No recticle but the arrow would show on the command boxes. Pretty difficult to fly without a recticle
It was solved by a clean reinstall and selecting deactivate for "Advanced Shader" and selecting no for " enable screen capture settings" in the "choose mod options" screen in the FL mod manager 1.31
edit- also selected recticle for color blind players
I run the gtx 295 video card. Even with the Advanced shader disabled, the mod still looks brilliant.
added more to the multiplayer section that should be enough. if anything is incorrect, missed, needs addition, or needs improvement please post the corrections.thx in advance.
ps. the XX marks the spots that need numbers I dont have.
I know the article is a time sensitive task, but I worked late yesterday and the next few days.
I will add more to the multi player section as soon as possible.
@ Bond
The original color-blind mod turns the recticle white in color full time.
The new color-blind mod doesnt turn the recticle white full time anymore so I am switching to the original now knowing it is compatible with 1.8

CrossFire 1.8 a modification to Freelancer.
Where to begin ? The first thing is that CF 1.8 is huge:
There are XX systems with XX planets, XX stations, and XX battleships most of which can be docked on/at. All of these bodies have information cards which can be accessed by placing the player cursor or targeting recticle on the planets, stations, and battleships.
Additional information can be found by reading the rumors in the bar in the dockable planets, stations, and battleships. The rumors are also the starting points for XX story quests. Quests are detailed and well thought out. Quests involve exploration, combat, and solving mysteries by finding data disks and other items. The quests are a great way to really experience the soul of the Crossfire series.
The bars are also where a player can take missions to earn credits. These credits can be used to purchase reputation fixes, ships, equipment, and repairs. Credits can also be earned from salvaging wrecks, trading, and smuggling.
The credits come in handy as there are XX ships which can be purchased and flown. The combat ships range from monster Capitol ships to light fighters. A player may trade/smuggle with any ship, including combat ships, however CrossFire also has ships specialized for these tasks. The specialised trading/smuggling ships range from the tiny Rhino to the massive Soulforge Train.
There are XX weapons and XX equipment types which can be mounted to the ships. The variety of ship, weapon and equipment combinations is almost endless to provide you with a truely custom ship built to your specifications for how you like to play the game.
All of this is available in single player or multi player. Multiplayer has additional features.
Ok, thats all cool but what are the graphics and visuals like?
Well the graphics and visuals are stunning. Please forgive me for boasting, but they are that good and better... especially in high def. Imagine rotating planets with atmospheres rendered in amazing detail. The nebulae and special effects in vivid colors and depth.... It must be experienced to believe.
A great thing about CrossFire is that it can be optimised very simply for the most advanced pc as well as a very basic pc and still have beautiful visuals and smooth gameplay.
Multiplayer additional features:
CrossFire allows for friends to form groups called clans. Clans may purchase a system if they wish. In their system a clan may make any rules they wish for that system.
Roleplay is divided into 4 basic categories Police, Mercenary, Pirate, and Trader/Smuggler.
CrossFire has regularly scheduled events for most days of the week.
One special event called ASF vs.CSF takes place for one full week each month. It is a very cool event which allows players to join one side or the other for that 7 full days. This allows for larger group battles and fun. This is a great way for people new to the server to make friends and experience crazy good action.
The Crossfire community:
We have a very active forum in which it is very easy to get help with what ever you need. Online games can be very confusing to new people and at CrossFire you will find a very friendly group eager to help answer questions and help you in game. The nice thing about our community is that you can engage it as you prefer. Some new players dont want any spoilers or help and that is fine. Others want an easier path and help will be gladly given. It is completely up to you.
Come visit us at CrossFire Address.
This is just a brief summary to get the ball rolling. Please tell us what you think and add/subtract/correct anything you would like. I will edit as additions or subtractions are given.
We will need much more content. Please pitch in some lines, pargraphs, ideas, etc.......
Thank you in advance

Hmmm....... "soul of CrossFire" What does this mean? What was added to the Freelancer story? Lets have a look:
Strap in Pilot! Entering an amazing new world of FreeLancer... with Crossfire
Chapter 1
A few months ago a Rheinland explorer found a new Jumpgate to a hidden system in Omicron Alpha. When they entered this system the first time they were shocked. It was the main reason for the rising Nomad activities in the whole Sirius sector. Containing one planet and over 20 Jumpgates to Nomad systems, Liberty systems, Borderworld systems and many unknown systems it's a major threat for all houses. Rheinland, Liberty, Kusari and Bretonia decided to send their fleets to get this system under their control. But the nomads were already waiting for them... hundreds of ships got destroyed and the whole Kusari fleet is still missing after they were chasing a Nomad battleship. But finally it was a victory and the Nomads had to leave. Because of this massive fight above the planet it is now called Crossfire. A few weeks after this important victory the houses decided to colonize the unknown systems. But because of the Outcast in the neighbourhood these stations and planets are under permanent attack.
Chapter 2
Incoming transmission from the Kusari Fleet: "We are under attack by nomad forces... we need help our position is 12.*)"§12*33... who ever can hear this please help us"
The Kusari Fleet is still out there and under attack by nomad battleships and gunboats. The Fleets spread out to find a hidden system called Death Valley and to rescue the Kusari. Meanwhile in the Nephele System a new Sleepership was found which looks the same way the old alliance sleeperships looked like. Scientists entered the wreck to explore it and to have a look at the ship database. "Russian language?!?!... it's a coalition ship"
Chapter 3
The nomad battle: Even with reinforcements coming to Death valley the Kusari are not able to destroy the Nomad armada... the fights already last several weeks now. Only a single Kusari fighter has found a way through the blockade in Death Valley and managed to deliver a disk which was found in an unknown wreck to the security forces on Planet Crossfire. Local scientist analize the datafiles now.
The Sleepership: This ship has a coalition origin.. but what is it doing here? It is allready a few hundred years old and it seems like it got attacked. Maybe the database is showing more information and maybe some guys in the new systems have heard some rumours.
Chapter 4
A way to our old home, the earth, has been found again but there is no life anymore. The colonies are destroyed, earth is empty and everything looks like the nomads have something to do with it. The houses try to recolonize the sol system now and find out what has been going on. Maybe the databases of the old science centers on earth can tell us more about the history of sol and where the missing coalition fleet is.
Chapter 5
The Coalition, we never thought that we would see them again but we were wrong. Before Earth got destroyed they managed to launch their three sleeperships. Two of them have found their way to the Altair sector and now we are at war with them again. Will this never end?
Chapter 6
The return of the Dom'Kavash was a heavy strike back for the Coalition and the houses of Sirius. The Dom'Kavash territory is growing with the support of the Nomads and Coalition is close to a destruction. Nobody knows where those ships come from or how to survive their attacks. We have only one chance... forget the rivalities of the past and unite with the Coalition and fight together. This is the only way to survive the biggest threat that the mankind has seen.
Chapter 7
Not long ago a giant fleet of Coalition ships broke through a heavy Dom'Kavash blockade and discovered a hidden hypergate. A large group of fighters entered this hypergate but never returned. What is on the other side? This is a question that hardly can be answered. All tries to through failed and Dom'Kavash motherships constantly jump through this gate to Altair. Only the united forces of the houses and the coalition might be able to find out what is going on there.
Chapter 8
Eventhough the Dom'Kavash technology is much more effective than everything we can think of and every try to attack them did fail, it is very surprising that Sirius and even Altair were not overrun by hordes of bio-mechanical ships yet. Of course the people which lost their families and friends in New London, Sol, New Berlin, Omicron Alpha and X-3043 will think different but those Dom'Kavash invasors were nothing more than scouts. Maybe they are searching for something. Prof. Dr. Itao Hamasaki from the University of New Tokyo brought up a theory that the Nomads have sent out a final call before the wormhole of the Dyson Sphere collapsed and that the Dom'Kavash are back to investigate on this matter. In the end this does still not explain why those giant fleets in Altair do not attack us. Even the Nomads seem to wait for something. Maybe the answer to this is originally a question. Why did the Dom'Kavash leave our region of the galaxy thousands of years ago? Professor Hamasaki believes that the answer to this question is hidden in the ruins of an old civilization which we call Ancients.
This is only a taste of the deep story lines which CrossFire has to offer.
All of this is available in single player or multi player. Multiplayer has additional features.
Ok, thats all cool but what are the graphics and visuals like?

A great thing about CrossFire is that it can be optimised very simply for the most advanced pc as well as a very basic pc and still have beautiful visuals and smooth gameplay.
Multiplayer additional features:
Roleplay is divided into 4 basic categories; Police, Mercenary, Pirate, and Trader/Smuggler. Speaking in RP character is fun ,but not required. Killing other players is strongly encouraged to be done within the context of RP or consensual. Most of the players on Crossfire enjoy PVP.
Those that do not like PVP can avoid it fairly easily by not smuggling and/or paying when taxed by a Pirate. Some various examples for someone who wants RP but not PVP: 1. When a Pirate asks for tax: a) pay the tax. or b) run like crazy and call the Cops. c) run like crazy and call/hire Mercs. d) a combination of b and c. All 4 are accepted and respected forms of RP. 2. Want to smuggle (must mount Smuggler license) a) Pay the Cop when asked for a fine and hope he/she accepts bribes to let you keep the BMG ( black market goods) or b) run like crazy and call/hire Mercs or hire Mercs even before the Cops attempt a fine. c) run towards the Pirates and tell them Cops are after you.(Pirates love to kill Cops) (evil Pirates will still want a tax then will fight Cops). d) a combination of b and c. All 4 are accepted and respected forms of RP. These are just a few of the ways to have great RP fun even if you dont like PVP. Mercenaries can be hired for any task.
If you like PVP then Crossfire will give you a very good challenge. If you are a top shelf fighter pilot, please come to CF and test your skills, you will not be disappointed.
Any player can tax, fine, merc, or smuggle. The player mounts the appropriate license and may pursue that RP. Players may pursue only one RP per char, but may have more than one char so it is possible to play several RPs. The RP on any char can be changed simply by unmounting one license then mounting a different license.
CrossFire has regularly scheduled events for most days of the week. 1. Topgun (fight 1vs1 matches) 2. Team Death Match ( like top gun but fighting in teams) 3. Smuggler Hunt ( 2 crafty smugglers fly from point a to point b. hunters try to find and kill ) 4. Assault ( 2 teams attack other team's Cap ship and defend their own) 5. Nomad Hunt ( 2 person teams kill nomads and collect as many dropped nomad guns as possible) 6. Big Race (Its a big race, finish first for glory and credits)
The events are a very good way for people new to the server to make some credits and make friends. All event participants receive credits. As you can see, some events are PVP and others are non-PVP. Something for everyone.
One special event called ASF vs.CSF takes place for one full week each month. It is a very cool event which allows players to join one side or the other for that 7 full days. This allows for larger group battles and fun. This is a great way to make friends and experience crazy good action.

Graphics are Epic.Game runs extremely smooth even though my ping is very high(210 0 0).
Terms like stunning and brilliant come to mind.
A Big thank you to OP, Haegar, Centaurian, Arvedui, and all the other folks involved in making this incredible mod. Stunning and brilliant may even be an understatement.
Ahoy Rich, good to see you back
I couldnt figure out that trusted list either. I went for the "free help" chat at McFails. That knob suggested turning off Mcfail for gaming. I asked wouldnt that put my pc at risk? He said yes but it would work. I thought no wonder the help is free because it is worth nothing. But they have listed "help for a fee" @ $10 usd.
So now I am trying Avira on the free 31 days program. So far, Avira seems very good.
The 1.8 looks very cool online so I think it is definately worth the extra effort to get it running. Hope to see you in-game soon
Edit- Had a chance to fly around some more, change very cool to Epic . 1.8 is a Must to get working.
Thx Spiky. I will look into Avira.
Any other ideas on good AV would be welcome also. Thx in advance.
I have the same issue with McAfail. As soon as CF 1.8 is being installed, McAfail deletes "Artemis!C0C5014C6A32". The piece of shit doesnt even prompt to allow for the option not to take action against CF 1.8. To make matters worse, McFail tech support wants to charge $10 usd for tech support for their suckass product[3]
The problem is that CF will lose many potential players because McAfail is bundled in many ISP service plans in the USA
What is a good AV which will work with Vista 64 and Win7 64 and CF please? Thanx in advance.
edit- btw... Artemis is not a CF file. Artemis is the scanner McFail is using.
