Hi Martind, it's good to be back, and I'm glad that you remember me.

That was the mission I used, and it seemed fine until I returned.

I did run the patching utility, but it's possible that something went awry there; i'll try it, again since I don't think that should hurt anything.

Since I got smoothly into Lost Fleet space and everything seemed to be fine while there, I was thinking that maybe I was supposed to hang around in Renaissance space until told to return, reminded (other than by the entry in the mission log) to return to Juni and King, or the like.

I'll try the boss's suggestion about replaying from the end of the original story, too.

Once I get home and onto the proper PC, I'll try again.

It's been a long time since anyone called me a good boy, too.

Black Star sounds intriguing, and that fighter looks very intimidating, indeed.

I'm looking forward to this, having just had my appetite whetted thoroughly by the Lost Fleet.

    Thanks for the quick response.

And thanks for all the work that must have gone into the beautiful new areas!

Yes, I saw that you had made it possible to digress to Lost Fleet and then return to the main story.

It appears that I was just unlucky, unless...was I supposed to wait for some message or mission update while in Renaissance space?

I just toured all of the systems and bases, and returned to Sol system once I had seen everything there seemed to be to see, spoke to a few folks in the bars, etc., and returned without hearing/seeing any mission prompts.

Perhaps I missed a trigger of some kind?

Returning to Crossfire after a long absence (new job, and long hospital stay) I decided to do the Lost Fleet story at last.

    I have a rather special personal interest in the story, after all. ;

Redoing much of the original FL story and the first few missions in CF, I finally got to the cut scene with Juni and King at Order HQ bar, and as recommended declined to join them.

Went and bought new ship and gear, then found Lt. Slate's anomaly, did the grand tour of Renaissance space, and returned.

However, there is no expected cut scene, and despite trying several things such as leaving Order HQ and coming back, doing return from Renaissance space from saved game, etc., I can't seem to get a way to return to CF missions after the Lost Fleet bonus mission.

I liked the Lost Fleet content a lot, and even though I finished it once long ago, I'd like to continue with the Crossfire story once again after having done the Lost Fleet.

I would appreciate any help in getting Juni and King to show up again in the bar, or viable workaround.

I'm running Win 7, and had relatively little trouble when I followed the instructions in the FAQ/guides exactly and in the correct sequence, including the advice about adding your graphic card manually.

Skipping steps can lead to trouble, at least in my experience.

As a general piece of advice I'd say to not be shy about rebooting your PC after each major step in the process. I'm sure that I did this more than was really necessary, but I don't regret being extra careful.

It's a big mod, and installing it can be a little tedious, but I assure you that it is well worth the effort.

If you still have trouble, use the forum search function: it's very likely that someone else had the same issue and got good advice about how to deal with it. If you still have trouble, I believe that you'll find many friendly and knowledgeable people here who will provide help and advice (and, BTW, the more specific the description of the problem, the more appropriate the help is likely to be).

Good luck with the installation. I envy you the ability to experience Crossfire for the first time in the near future.

When installing on my Windows 8 laptop--but not with my Windows 7 desktop, for some reason--I had no end of trouble getting the read only removed. I finally had to resort to making a copy, ensuring that it was read only, and then replacing the original. It has worked fine after that.

Yep, that Raptor is definitely nice. I've been trying out the Deathblade, too, and liking that as well.
I was also surprised by how different the new Eliminator looks from the old version; the pic in the Lexicon isn't updated yet, so it was an interesting surprise...cool design.
My compliments to those involved in the ship designs.
Well balanced and great looking, too.

Having just recently finished the SP story, I am more than happy to offer feedback, while avoiding spoliers for those who have yet to experience the awesomeness that is CF 2.0

I don't even know if there was another viable option (suing old savegame, etc.), but I played through the whole thing from the beginning, and I'm glad that I did.

I am very impressed by the pacing, as well as by the overall progression and explication of the story. Particularly, I think that the balance is great among missions where you have to actually fly there and back (whever "there" and "back" might be), and those where, for example, accomplishing the mission goal results in a "jump" to something like "Four weeks later, having returned and reported...".

Whoever made those decisions made them very thoughtfully and intelligently. The story did not seem to be "railroading" me--except for the natural, believeable urgency built into the story--nor did it seem to be bogging down in yet another long, relatively uneventful flight back to somewhere to report, or bring found object, or whatever, I was seriously impressed with that.

The way that the information was revealed was done very well, even for a player who went all the way through 1.9 and more or less knew the background story. It was actually interesting and attention-grabbing nevertheless, and that's quite an accomplishment.

The "loss" referred to was sad, but not forced, and definitely "absolutely heroic and worth being done".

The secret bonus mission was done well, too, and worth the trouble IMO. It was a little hard finding the place, but that's as it should be, I believe. The possibilities it opens are thought-provoking; I hope someone decides to take action on them, someday.

As for the end of all conflicts...it would be nice to believe so, but I am a student of human history and an observer of the world around me, and of the people (and governments, and religions, and other organizations) therein. I do not think that there will ever be an end to conflicts, even when logic would indicate that as the best path for all. We humans are a stubborn, emotional, combative species, and I don't think that will ever change.

Thanks very much to all the developers, and congratulations on a job very, very well done!

There is no doubt at all about when it ends, and the end is well worth waiting for/fighting through.
"Spectacular" and "epic" just don't do it justice.
I particularly liked the very, very last...ah...mission. :)

Incidentally, I was very foolish in the "find the second chamber" mission, spending over an hour trying to find secret/hidden entrances or the like around the first chamber, instead of proceeding through areas into which I had not yet ventured. I think I thought too much about the "below you" comment in the directions. Once I was thinking in the proper terms, it was easy to find.

You guys are going to tempt me into getting myself a new graphics card for Christmas.
Then I'll probably need a new motherboard/CPU to make it worthwhile.
Playing CF is as good an excuse as any, and better than most, I guess.

Being unable to set waypoints during a mission has finally led to me searching through the entire Dublin system for a data disk, square by square, top to bottom, for a looong time in real time...and I still can't find it. I don't recall having this much trouble in 1.9, and the Dublin System seems rather different in 2.0. I had much less trouble with the other disks.

I don't think I missed any nooks and crannies, but I seem to be pretty well stuck. It's beautiful--like the rest of 2.0 so far--but I'm beginning to feel as if I'd like to leave
Dublin behind and get on with the story. I hope I haven't somehow glitched myself, but I'm beginning to worry.

Trent is currently checking under chairs in the Hood's bar, drinking to fuel another search attempt.

I understand the popularity of the Chimera and Saracen. I've flown the latter but not (yet) the former.
I'm curious, though, why there sees to be no love for the Eliminator.
Is it unsuited to PvP, or something? It seems ideal in many ways...am I missing something?

I've just started with CF 2.0, and am replaying the original SP storyline from the beginning, so it will be a while before I have enough cash, but is there any reason why I should choose the Chimera over the Eliminator, when I'm able to afford either? Note that even for podding, I prefer a reasonably large cargo hold.

2.0 is looking and behaving great, BTW...kudos to all the devs!

You may be right, and I'm considering it. At least I'm unlikely to get lost. As for "weak", however, you might be surprised at how much competence I still lack at combat: I get killed a lot. I still need to master the finer points of engine killing and the like; my progress so far in CF is much more due to luck (and dogged persistence) than to skill.

I may indeed try MP, though, sooner rather than later. If I'm going to be vaporized, it may as well be among appreciative onlookers. I'll be sure to re-read the rules thoroughly first, however. And the guides, as well. I shall try to compensate for my slower reaction time by being as crafty as possible (it works in bar fights, why not in space combat?).

Thanks for the heads-up on the Saber, too.

Thanks, Ajay, I'll keep it in mind, and BTW I should apologize to you. I find that you had actually mentioned the Deimos Level 10 turret in an answer to me on a slightly different topic quite a while ago. I should have remembered that detail for when I finally found a suitable turret.

Thanks for the recommendation, denne. I tried out the Saracen a while ago, since it seems to be a very popular ship. It was indeed impressive, and after trying out some of the others, I may go back to it. Unless I go back to the Eliminator. I've got a feeling that the Saracen is more agile, the Eliminator somewhat better armed and with more cargo space.

Trying to find a good "Jack-of-all-trades" vessel is tricky, but fun.

    Decisions, decisions. :)

Thanks for the quick and useful intel, guys!

I should feel foolish about the Black Eagle, denne, since I flew one for about half of the campaign and didn't notice or forgot about it. I didn't come across such high-level turrets back then, and traded in the ship before hitting Coalition space in the campaign, anyway. It's good to know, though, since I may fly one again one day. I haven't tried out any trains yet, but that's good info about the Soulforge, too, and I'll keep it in mind. So far the biggest freighters I've tried are only the Bullpup Mk III and the APC.

Ajay, thank you for the info about the Deimos. I haven't tried that one out yet, partly because it seems to get little love from those who mention it in forum posts and partly because its cargo hold is smaller than I prefer. I did acquire suitably slow Level 10 guns--it was very far from easy or safe to get them--which are a close match for the turrets' speed. I know what you mean about the power drain, having had the same problem with, for example, trying to use 6x10 Level guns and 3x10 Level 9 turrets. It's generally not worth it. Since I recently improved my rep with the Corsairs in order to get a high-level mine dropper, this may be a good time to go buy and try out the Deimos, since I think it's available in a Corsair-controlled place (time to check the Lexicon).

Tastes vary about ship preference, I know. That's why I'm trying out several for myself, despite losing money on the trade-ins. I quite liked the Eliminator VHF, for example, when I flew it for a while, and it doesn't seem to win any popularity contests on the forum. It's not as agile as many like, I suspect, or maybe folks don't like its looks, although I do. I've just traded in an APC for a return to a Haidar (I bet some pilots think that's a dumb move), figuring to go pod hunting again to improve income easier. Then maybe I'll try that Deimos, to see for myself what it's like, with and without the spiffy turret.

Martind, thanks for the advice! I got a full complement of Ancient guns to eventually mount on a Bullpup...and it wasn't easy by any means, even though I used a more suitable ship in which to hunt them. Hunting Ancients is not for the faint of heart (although it does seem to have the benefit of endearing me to the Dom'Kavash). I only picked up one Kelyrd-ray Projector during the campaign, and since I'm now back in a Haidar, I don't think I'm going to go hunting their alien owners for a while. Basically, it seems that--at least for me--the best ships for pod hunting are not the ones best for alien gun hunting. Or for aggressive trading, for that matter. When I finally try MP PvP, I'm sure that I'll be better off in still different ships, too.

That variety/diversity is part of rossfire's charm, it seems to me.

Thanks for the information, guys; you're very helpful! :)

Having decided in SP to do a pretty thorough job of exploring the Coalition systems, I was pleasantly surprised to find a half dozen Level 10 turrets hidden away in one of the systems. My elation at having all the risks and excitement of the exploration so richly rewarded was quickly tempered by the realization that--although I have now tried out several different VHFs and freighters, and looked at dozens of them in many ship merchants' showrooms--I have yet to encounter a ship on which to mount them. The highest mounts I can remember seeing are Level 9.

It's either time to look more closely (and maybe test drive?) more ships, or maybe to investigate a bigger class of ship. More exploration remains in other systems, too, so one way or another I hope to find a good home for my shiny new (well, newly scavenged) turrets.

Of course, this discovery happened not long after I went to considerable trouble--and lots of excitement and much getting shot up--acquiring alien guns to match the low-ish projectile speeds of Level 9 turrets I'd earlier acquired and wanted to mount on a Bullpup Mk III.

My piloting and combat skills are very slowly improving, and I'm finding my way into interesting nooks and crannies of the CF universe. I'm also getting blown up a lot and getting better at evasion. OK; you can call it "running away and hiding"; I call it "evasion". ;)

I am certainly never bored, though.
