OP did mention in another thread there being music of higher quality, but I don't know if it's the same tracks as before with better sound or if they are entirely different pieces of music replacing this version's.

Talking about betas, OP, I remember during one of them (was it for 1.6? it's hard to remember) that killing one of the brand-new Dom'Kavash gunboats in Sol System would result in a CTD. Could this recent observation be due to a similar problem to what was occuring back then?

It is a problem because some players have been opening fire the moment a ship comes into view, rather than waiting for the opponent to get control of the craft - even after being repeatedly told not to.

While this is a rather unconvential approach, this is my magic rep bullet when I'm tired of looking for bribes. Go to Inner Cloud System (New London -> Corridor -> Inner Cloud <- Nephele <- X-3043) and search for Storage Depots that belong to the Xenos. There will be a few of them. Destroy them and be amazed by the effect. That said, you will definitely need to kill more pirates to get factions hostile towards you again afterwards if you destroy enough of those xeno containers. Since Xenos hate just about everyone, and everyone hates them back, you gain favorable standing with nearly every faction in the mod.

Lol, that was great xD

To be honest, I don't see what the problem is with NPCs even during the ASF-CSF fights. My characters have an affiliation and I ensure that my reputations with factions reflect that. As annoying as it has been having Junkers, Outcasts, and Corsairs breathing down my neck for hours during the battles this past week (especially when they're VHFs) the game really is more fun that way. Pirates are docking at police bases and cops push the Outcasts money indirectly under the table by buying off the Junkers though... people can play however they want, don't get me wrong, but it's disappointing sometimes. The NPCs are an important aspect of the gameplay - many features like these get overlooked in the zeal for player-to-player interaction. I look forward most to the more subtle things like these in 1.8.

CF's added ships can be found namely in the places bordering X-3043. The systems among those that are not part of the storyline generally have many ship options (oftentimes three options per base or planet). Many of the stations selling added ships are off the tradelanes a fair distance and may require exploration to find. There are many options, and while visiting those systems remember that there are usually at least three places to land. Added ships are also found at the Coalition bases in both Sovetskaya and Vorkuta Systems, and there are other craft offered in strange locations (some add-on systems are dead-ends found by jump hole, for instance).

Given discoveries of dwarf planets in the Solar System, it might be more sensible to not make any changes at all. Ceres is a good example - a dwarf planet located between Mars and Jupiter. Counting Pluto, aren't there something like four known dwarf planets in Sol at the moment? Rather awkward situation really one way or the other. It would appear that planets are rather numerous in our relative backyard. Trouble is there's really no telling how many planets there are in a typical star system, and if we're pretty average a dozen is sure a lot more than the typical FL system. If changes were desired to improve realism perhaps it would be better to err more towards removing Pluto and Charon, lending the notion that dwarf planets exist throughout the CF universe but are not charted. Whatever works though. Things seem rather fine the way the are really, but it's an interesting topic all the same.

Like the starfield, OP. It's always refreshing to see a system that isn't alongside a spectacular nebula once in awhile. Gives a certain appreciation for the depth and emptiness of the spaces between planets.

Looking good. Been looking forwards to friendly/hostile territory readouts especially, and that shipyard is eyecandy.

For me, to be honest, that would hinge on what is described as a high-quality soundtrack. Are they the same compositions as before but with improved quality of sound, or would all the music be new? As for the download rate, I don't mind something long but I worry that if it is too large that it will be difficult to download it without some sort of error occuring during the day-long transfer. xD

I need to be careful on that since its a story system... but im up for suggestionsIt's a lovely system, Tohoku, but there is a lot of open space and nothing exciting to buy at the stations. I don't mind it the way it is, but anything to spruce things up would garner appreciation. I've seen those stations before btw - growth of several of them aside, what is that new lighting effect? It's hard to explain, but there's a very different look to the objects and the change is quite positive.

Unless you fire the weapon from sufficient distance that you can hit a jump before the detonation I'd say the person firing it off is pretty screwed. That shockwave isn't going to be any more friendly towards you than the nearby planet just because you were the one who dropped it. On the other hand... if a ship's shields only get hit once the shield will just take the hit and you'll take no hull damage... but that'd be incredibly lame. xD

Expanding on what CA said, it would also make sense that all original asteroid fields, nebulae, and minefields in an impacted system also be destroyed. That said, the forced nova of a star would also produce an expansive nebula. Perhaps a system suffering such an attack should have a huge gas cloud?
On another note, being able to undock from a destroyed station or planet makes sense. A ship stranded in dock would be relatively shielded from a shockwave, and bases probably aren't entirely disintegrated after the blast. This means that a ship could probably blast itself out of the wreckage and escape back, into space. Or, as an alternative, a ship might just be a piece of debris floating around and the pilot was fortunate enough to have had shields up at the time. Or so the rationale might go?
One thing that I cannot come out with a way to justify for RP, however... how is it that a system gets restored after a week if it has been destroyed? Maybe the GMG has a way of reforming a star from its debris field, and corporations could rebuild gate, trade lane, and base infrastructure... but how does one rebuild an entire planet or space station in that timeframe (and if you could, why not have improved replacements?). Maybe planets, moons, and stations would need to remain intact but lose dockability for the week instead... and the old gas clouds, asteroid fields, and mines never come back? Whatever is settled on will be great, but just floating some observations.
