I like the new mod. The pilot escape pods

are a neat idea. I wasn't keen on having to pay $500,000 in repairs after a bruising

encounter with some Red Hessians in Omega 41, but it makes sense. It also fixed a problem

in my sp game. I kept getting turned down at the mission board because I wasn't advanced

enough, despite the fact that I was at level 38. So more high paying missions means more fun

    for me.

But I'm a little confused about the multiplayer setup. I thought I'd read

that we're supposed to be using version 1.54, so that's what I installed. But when you try

to connect to the server, it says you're using version 1.55. Using 1.54, I can't connect

    to the server. What gives?

I thought this WAS the CF 1.53 thread. Anyway, I uninstalled CF

about a week ago. My anemic 450mhz processor just isn't up to p2p play. The targets keep

flitting around the screen, si it's hard to track them properly. I played sp version for

quite a while, going around kicking a$$ in a Warblade, but that gets old after a whle. So

now I'm playing the epsilon mod, which is much less ambitious than CF of course, but mildly

    interesting.
If and when I get a processor upgrade, I'll come back to CF and see about

some peer to peer strafing and jousting.
    :-)

    See this

is why, as much as I'd like to get involved with pvp, I don't seek out clans. I don't

have time for this kind of dysfunctional, juvenile, horsesh!t.

    I haven't

finished completely exploring it yet, but I'd be glad to help with SP info. But I work 11

hour days and would only be available after about 8pm e.s.t. most weekdays.
    What do you

    need?

    My

    2 cents worth...

I've not played online for a week, and am a relative newbie. Never

joined a clan. As much as I look forward to pvp play, I just don't have time for all the bs

that (I assume) goes with being in a clan. So, I'm on the outskirts. But I would like for

the rest of you who frequent the server so much to behave like adults so that people like

me, who work 50 hours a week and just come in for occasional recreation, can do so.

Maybe you feel that fringe users like me don't have the right to make such requests,

but if you ignore the needs of newbies, eventuall, you'll find that there's noone left to

    recruit or shoot.

    They are easy if you've

already picked up an Adv. Champion Shield in Hiruga. Otherwise they're a nightmare.
    But

speaking of Vienna, I picked up a nifty new Very Heavy Fighter there called the Warblade

    (recommended by SOT).
I can't help but notice the similarity to one of the favorite

ships from Privateer2. The Warblade looks like a mild updating of the Heretic.

Helluva ship with Adv Champion Shield and Nomad Energy Cannons. :-) And I love the sleek

flying stiletto look of the thing.
Having two Sunlsayer torpedo launchers doesn't hurt

    either.

Who designed the Warblade? Was it inspired by P2's Heretic or am I

    imagining things?

Hello Major. I think the Crossfired SP mod incorporates another

Freelancer mod called Friendly Universe. This makes everyone friendly or neutral. Don't be

in such a rush to get rid of it. It's much easier to explore all the new systems with this

setting intact and make enemies gradually.
For instance, one of the best new bases to buy

equipment is Outpost Delta in the Nephele system. It's run by the Bundshuh (sp?) who are an

outlaw group in Rheineland. If you go with the standard alliances from FL, you won't be

    able to land here.
So my advice is to stick with the setup you have and enjoy blasting

people with relative impunity as you explore the new systems. You'll eventuallly make some

enemies. The GMG are particularly easy to piss off for instance.
    Enjoy

    I don't

much care for illegal immigration, but if I lived in abject poverty with no hope of

improvement and an opportunity to better myself was on the other side of the border, I'd

    head for the border.
I hate "gangstas" too. But please remember that hip-hop is not a

true reflection of all African Americans. I know, cause I am one. I could go on a rant

about why there aren't any "people of color" in any of the bars or bases in all of Sirius,

but I already know the answer and it's not eeeevil white supremacist facist racism. It's

probably because the graphic artists who designed all the npc's were causcasian and they

used the standard 'flesh tone' palette. Judging from the physical appearance of the women

in the bars, i'd guess most of them are guys as well.
Le's not read too much into these

kind of things ok? It's just a friggin game. let's play it, blow things up and have a good

    time.

I like exploring in Freelancer. It's somewhat less

satisfying in Crossfire because there are no patrol paths. Without patrol paths, you have to

spend a lot more time just wandering around aimlessly in order to find things...which some

of us who have full time jobs don't have time for.
