Yeah, I got kicked off twice yesterday too. Quite frustrating. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon. I did notice though, that before that, it had been running more smootly. Much smoother throughput-- that is, fewer instances of npc's darting around my screen. Just when I was starting to really groove on the new, better gamelplay, it crashed.

Two steps forward, one step back. :-)

I can usually find the Crossfire server from the whole list in less than a minute. Once you find it, the next time is easy cause you filter out everyplace you haven't visited, et Voila! there you are.

So what's the e.t.a. on this mind-blowing online experience? Are you still waiting for the community to live up to it OP, or still working on the code?

If you make it to the screen with the list of servers, just scroll down to the Crossfire 24/7 server. Then hit the connect button in the lower right corner of your screen and you're in.

The next time, you can set the filter to screen out servers you've never used and all you'll see is Crossfire 24/7.

Hello Blood Hunter. Welcome to the Swat portal.
In the future, if you want to post a comment about a subject, just scroll to the bottom of that page and click the REPLY button. That puts your comment at the end of the thread you're reading and others can see and respond to your input.
If you click on the NEW THREAD button, as you have done here, your comment is completely out of context, the people who you want to communicate with will probably not see it, and you'll generate the kind of confused response you see above.

    Enjoy the forum. :-)

I had a similar experience docking in a very heavy fighter at Outpost Delta a few times in the earlier versions of CF. The ship would bounce around in the docking ring for awhile, taking hull damage and eventually --usually -- dock without any lasting damage. I think it's been fixed.

Good to see you to Chief.

Acutally, I was just putting Pandora's post into historical perspective in the Wing Commander Privateer timeline. Not much more point to it. In CF's current iteration, collecting escape pods is one of the best ways to earn money, as long as you do it in such a way that you don't get yourself banned from Planet Crossfire. An Eagle wth a cargo hold full of escape pods is worth 7million creds. :-)

This is an old idea from Chris Roberts' original Wing Commander Privateer game. Whenever you fought a dogfight, there was a chance that the enemy pilot could be tractored into your hold. If you sold hm or her at the first base you landed on, everything was okay. But if you forgot, and took off with the captive in your hold, you could be targeted by the police or Navy for carrying "contraband."

    Freelancer is essetially Privateer 3.

Texas was great until today. Yesterday it was 65 and sunny. Today it's cold, rainy, and windy. But hey, I've got a new pc , a fresh box of vanilla wafers, and lots of Sirius to explore. Time to LIVE IT UP!! lol

Hello all. I'm back online and have reinstalled Freelancer on my new system. HP Pavillion with a 64bit AMD 3800 processor. Im amazed at how much better the game looks now than it did on the old Dell. And I thought I had great graphics on that one. This is just amazing. Can't wait to see the CF systems on this pc.
Anyway, I've just finished replaying the Freelancer plot missions. Just for the fun of it, and should be reinstalling CF in a few days. I don't know if I will be able to pick up with my old character or not though, so I may have a different handle next time you see me online.

And I see I have a lot of reading to do to catch up on the threads. That's what weekends are for. :-)

Hey boys & girls. I'll be moving to Texas to start a new job tomorrow and so I'll be afk for an extended period of time. Ijust wanted to say again how much I've enjoyed this mod, this forum and those of you with whom I chatted or flown online. Centaurian Alpha, Riddick, Neo and otheres have been great. I'll try to get back onine when I get setup in my new job and get another pc. Meanwhile, you all have fun and keep the PPC's burnin'. :D

think anyone caught crashing the server on purpose should be warned once, then banned. Such

people are a plague in an online community.

    There

are at least three bases or outposts in Hiruga, one of which sells a very good shield.

Navigating the system is tricky though. The gravitational anomalies are one-way doors that

lead you through the system like a labrynth. You'll want to make a map and keep track of

which gravitational anomalies lead where so you won't keep going in circle.
    Have fun.

Sounds like a firewall problem to me, Jaffas. Btw, welcome to the forum.
    I

had the same problem the first time I tried to connect to multiplayer using a ZoneAlarm

firewall. And each time I install an upgrade, I have to reset the firewall to let

    freelancer.exe access the internet.

    I bought a Shield upgrade Mk V a while

ago and was surprised to find that it can't be installed on a Warblade without dismounting

the Power generator. How are you using both on your Tempest and Patriot?

Well now I've gone and done it. I had a glitch online today, (a

suddenloud buzzing noise from my modem that restarted my pc) so I reinstalled both mods:

1.56, 1.57, and Open SP. I can play fine online (although my pc still locks up whenever I

log off), but now my singleplayer files are all gone. I had moved the saved games to a

backup folder during the shuffle and I HOPE the only problem is that I've restored the

    folders and files incorrectly.
Can someone tell me the right folder navigation for Win

    2000?
    I think it's My games/Freelancer/Accts/SinglePlayer/????

    Thanks.

Looks like I'm missing an application. Maybe that's why

my system locks up whenever I try to log off the server. :-)
