Op, if you don't want us to spoil it for others, why do you have a complete database available on the swat forum that shows what sector wrecks and jumpholes are in? Not that I mind; it's a great resource. But it seems somewhat inconsistent. If you can tell the whole CF community where everything is, how does it spoil the fun if one of us answers a specific question for one person?

Will we have to input old Freelancer Multiplayer ID again or can we just connect to the server and pick up where we left off?
And the related question is, do we get to keep our existing 1.6 characters, or will there be another wipe? (YIKES)

    and to say it clearly
the testers played without such crashes for 5 days... and the only reason why it does crash is the stupidity of the users that are not able to install a fresh copy of FL before they use the mod

Gee Op, you should learn to stop repressing yourself and tell us how you really feel. :-)
    lol
Btw, just for the record; I followed Baldwin's instructions and the only problem I had was a couple of hiccups from my ZoneAlarm firewall. I think other people who are running ZA's antivirus with the firewall are having more problems. I've found that their firewall works great--the antivirus...not so much.
If you have problems connecting or staying connected, you may have to tell ZoneAlarm it's okay for Freelancer to access the internet and to act as a server. Even after setting it up correctly in the Program Control tab. This is a first for me and ZA. Usually the PC tab does it flawlessly. But, once I got past those two reminder prompts, I was able to connnect fine.
Then I got killed by the Liberty Police for smuggling contraband, but that's another story..

I use the same firewall. ZoneAlarm is very good, but each time I install a new version of Freelancer or Crossfire, I have to update the program files.
    1) Open ZoneAlarm by double clicking on the icon in your start tray
    2) Click on the Program Control tab.
    3) Scroll down the list of installed programs to Freelancer.exe and change all of your settings to "allow". You'll probably find it's set to ""Block" or "ask".

If it's set to "ask", the firewall will be asking you if it's okay to allow Feelancer to access the internet or act as a server while Freelancer is trying to do just that. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to check the correct setting and give it permission while Freelancer is trying to connect. So you have to set the Program Controls before you try to log on.

    That's just stupid.

...And finally these pics of my last hurrah. I decided to go out with a bang and just started shooting at Liberty Cruisers outside Manhattan. I'm sure there was a really, really good reason for it. But yesterday was a long time ago, so what it was has somehow slipped my mind. But I'm very certain that they started it. yessir.

    Down goes the LNS Wabash

    Scratch the LNS Susquehana
I was just cleaning my torpedo tubes and next thing I know, there's this godawful noise and people are shooting at me. WTF?

And that's all she wrote. CF 1.57 has been a BLAST. Looking forward to 1.6!!!!!

But of course, Crossfire is about...um...Cross fire. Combat that is. Mixing it up. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of pvp (I was too busy ducking and exploding), but I did get some wonderful pics of npc's going up in flames. Great entertainment, that. Judging from these, one might think I was a pirate or a pilot of ill repute. Nothing could be further from the truth. I always play on the side of the good guys. But sometimes you gotta have access to Outlaw turf to get stuff. Like Advanced Champion Shields. In which case you gotta make nice with the baddies by sacrificing a few GMG trains or Liberty Cruisers. Which I really hate doing and only do when it's absolutely necessary.
    Really.

GMG Train in flames. Gotta make nice with the Dragons, dontcha know...

Bretonia Crusaders make a really nifty blue flash when they pop.

Scratch one Liberty Cruiser. I swear it was Self Defense!

And, as with Freelancer, part of the joy of playing Crossfire is flying around in this great big beautiful cosmos. Op's work on the new planets is certainly up to the standards of the original game. Unfortunately I didn't get a screenshot of the cool wormhole in ...uh....Vega(?). Anyway I didn't get it. But I did snap a few pics of Planet Prophecy which has warm fuzzies for me because it's named after the last Wing Commander game (a moment of silence please....), Sigma 17 just because it's so damn cool-looking, and of course, Mother Earth.

Of course, no mod is a success without the vigilence of dedicated people to guard it from cheaters, thugs, ruffians, and Methodists. Gunny put in countless hours standing guard so we could have fun blowing each other up. Herea are a couple of shots showing our resident Headmaster on duty.

Using high tech tools of law enforcement

One of the cool things about Crossfire is the new bases. Some of these bases have rather....odd docking properties. Docking at Outpost Delta can take as little as 10 seconds or as long as 3 minutes depending on which butt cheek you're leaning on. (Balance is the key!) On one particlularly long docking sequence, I decided to sit back, have a beer and watch the show. Took some pictures too. Here are a few..

You might want to put some sunglasses on for this one....
