Well as much as I am anticipating CF 1.6 I bid fond adieu to 1.57. For it was in Crossfire 1.57 that I finally got with the program and figured out what multiplayer is all about. Clans, chat, pvp, all that cool stuff you can't do by yourself-unless you're schizophrenic.
Being a graphic designer by training and trade, I kept a runing photo album of sorts as I made my journey into the realm of multiplayer and through the wonderful world of Crossfire. So it is with your induldgence that I open my virtual scrapbook, and share these Crossfire memories (sniff) with my mates.

This first one is of my clan buddy (IOC) Argos, who escorted me through Altair.

Wow. I'm stunned Op. That's whatcha call yer Magnum Opus. Or, in Kentucky Yer Magnum Opussum.
Either way, it's a remarkable feat. Can't wait to get busy exploring!

OP, I think the new shell is causing conflict with Compaq and HP onboard sound cards. I already posted a new thread in the Server News forum, but, since I think it's related to the new Shell, I thought I'd drop a note here as well.
Can someone on the server side check and see if you can debug the conflict with onboard sound cards please?

    Thanks.

A problem has arisen in the last few weeks that I need to mention. I think it's related to the developments on the server as OP works toward 1.6. Or it may be related to the new shell. For the past few weeks, IOC_Chuckles and I have been getting booted off the server during jumpgate sequences.
Not just booted from the server actually. My pc makes a sudden loud humming/buzzing noise and goes to blue screen. When I reboot the pc, and get back on the server, my ship is out in the middle of nowhere, about 100k from anything. Takes about a half hour just to get to a familar nav point.
I asked Gunny about it online and he said it can be fixed by turning off my 3D sound, but that doesn't work if you have an HP or Compaq pc with onboard sound. With an onboard sound card, there is no option to disable 3D sound. So you have to turn the sound completely OFF in order to not have this bug. So in the server's current state, anyone with a Compaq or HP pc with onboard sound can't play online unless they...
    1) risk getting booted every other jump, which sucks
    2) Play with no sound, which sucks
    3) Go buy a new sound card, which some people can't afford to do.

Can you look into this please and see what can be done on the server side to clear this up? As I said, it seems to be a recent development. I bought this pc in mid-January and played all the way through the Freelancer plot missions and got a long way into Crossfire before it started. Seems to have begun after the new FL shell was installed.
I'm sure I'm not the only one having this problem, so a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Wow. Just friggin awesome work OP.
LOVE Juni's new red outfit. Hubba hubba!
And the Dom Kvosh ships and the new planets look fabulous.

There is a server side glitch that needs to be cleared up but I'll post about that in an appropriate thread.

But yes, it is unbalanced and thats probably why we never saw it.

Yes I know, I've flown one. It's great for plundering wrecks and doing cargo runs in hostile territory. But the Bullpup Mk III is not a VHF. It's a friggin tank. It has the maneuverability of Rosanne Barr in a photo kiosk. So putting 6 level 10 guns on a Bullpup Mk III is not the same as putting them on a Deathblade or a Shroud. That one sounds familiar. Isn't this the bad-ass missile from Privateer 2? That was my favorite. One shot from a banshee and most fighters were toast. A true fire-and-forget bandit buster. :-)

I don't think you have to do the multiplayer bit to enjoy StarLancer. I think having played it in SP helps me appreciate Crossfire. I loved flying the Patriot in SL. Now I can fly an even better version online in CF. Consider Crossfire the Starlancer multiplayer you couldn't get before. :-)

wow. WOW I say. Looks like somebody's been busy. All I can say Op, is you'd better make sure the server can handle about 60 at a time cause once this hits the Lancer's Reactor and the Crossfire community, EVERYbody's gonna want to play in your sandbox. :-)

so what ship is that with the railgun and the kicka$$ MkII guns?
Where does one find a Cataclysm missile launcher or a Nemesis missile launcher?
Who do you have to bribe? Who do you have to kill?
I want em and I want em NOW lol

    Great job sir.

I don't remember them being that big an obstacle in Starlancer. But then, in SL, by the time you faced the ion cannon, you could fly a cloaked ship. So you could sneak up on it, uncloak, take out a turret and recloak.
No such option in CF. That's going to be verrry interersting. :-)

If you can transfer weapons from one character to another that would be really cool. We could each have a storage charactere parked in NY to which we could transfer all of our looted Class 10 guns and mix and match them according to our whim; or what adversary we're up against that day.

    Can this be done?

I have yet to be attacked randomly by another player, nor have I seen it done, or done it myself since the new shell was loaded, so I think we're all over-reacting.
Then again, I just got my new Deathblade, so I may go hunting today.... :-)

So you're saying that if 1.6 causes a complete character wipe and I have to start from scratch, Gunny will give me the 40 million credits I'll need to outfit a new ship at my current level? If that's a promise, I'll keep playing.

I've been trying to build my new character back up to what I had before I had to move last month. I'm almost there. If I have to start all over again, AGAIN, that will really suck.

I guess I'll go back to SP until the new mod is done and see what transpires.

Will you kindly send us all an E-mail announcement when the new mod is online, as you have in the past OP?
