If you got it working under Vista, please share it. I'm planning on building a new PC sometime soon and am planning to install Vista on it.

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone successfully got Vista and CF to coexist happily?
I have spent about 5 hours trying to get it to work, and so far I can get the launcher to run, and update some files.
HOWEVER, it fails on various files with a file access error.
I can go straight to SP, but after all the cutscenes it bombs with no error message. The Vista event log has a failure report for freelancer.exe, but it doesn't help.
Anyone fix this problem?
i dont understand why anyone has trouble. its always worked on vista for me. no different to xp other than when the launcher is on 1.5 to make it download the 1.6 launcher you need to reboot in between. that is all. If anyone is having problems then make sure your pc can run other games okay.
there is possibly some things people are doing wrong. basically you never install games with anti-virus and firewall on, turn them off! because they dont warn you when it decides to screw the install up.
( DONT )

Well, that doesn't sound like "working better than w/ vista" to me (regarding the un-connection)
My solution, win XP with Vista theme:D

Yeah, much better solution^^
When I try to ''regsvr32 c:\program files\microsoft games\freelancer\exe\msinet.ocx'' I get the message: The module failed to load.
Please let me know what to do now? I've followed the instructions as they are writ, I run vista home with all updates done. Freelancer normal runs fine, only crossfire won't start after selecting single player, it just crashes with the typical vista message 'has stopped responding'
Please help, I want to play this mod man!
please check, if u removed every file from the saved games folder (including restart.fl)?
else: if it's a Vista problem i am not very much of a help - i run XP.

I've got CF running in Vista in SP w/out probs in SP but not in MP:
1. I launch freelancer from a desktop shortcut
2. See the launcer, launcher updates, multiplayer active
3. Press "launch multiplayer"
4. FL runs
5a. Press SP -> Everything OK
5b. Press MP -> ESRB Content thing = Accept -> Internet -> Global serv. OK, internet games OK -> Set Filters -> Hide incompatible -> 24/7 SWAT CF Server -> [3] Unable to connect. [3][1][3]
