server

The server is down but I'm pretty sure that nothing is wrong with it. OP will get around to fixing it when he has time; in the meanwhile don't worry and just wait it out.

from reports i heard that the flserver.exe does hang up when the SPs try restarts...
normally it should simply close but it seems like there is a problem that i cant locate atm

Does that mean that each restart made by SP will lead to same situation and stuck the server.

Seems to be around the same time each night, also, this time it went extrememly laggy and worsened. looks to me the hallmarks of a DDOS attack !?! that can be the only thing thats causing this, because if the server is good as i hear some people say, then it must be the connection.

If the application is crashing (i.e. not responding) then theres several win admin tools you can use to detect this from the command line including tasklist, taskkill,
/? - for help

taskkill info...

hope the above is useful info to OP if he doesnt already know it. you can use the above tools to make yourself an automated application rebooter with batch files.

if it is a DDOS attack which is what im thinking then theres tools you can get to filter it out, but ive not seen them cheap. because i think theres a lot of very low level coding going on in there.

in addition, after reading your post ^^, they are connectiong via telnet, im not sure this is so good to use, telnets are notorios for being hacked. hope its a good one. also, if you changed anything about the OS lately, check the permissions are okay for the telnet users.

or the computer running it doesnt have enough free space maybe?.?.?.? like it runs out of space to keep all the info going on and starts to slow, then dies... then gets rooboted and looses all the previsios .tmp files and is ok then, and dies at a certain time (or around abouts) as thats roughly the time when it gets full....

or you have crappy cables that cant handel it, even hacked

also, try this OP, clear out your prefetch folder
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
sometimes freaky things happen when things crash, and the prefetch gets in a tangle. its only crap that gets saved for loading into ram m8.

get a perfmon up aswell and get some analysis done (do start...run... type perfmon in the box, youll see what i mean).

Wouldnt recommend it unless your obsessed with computers and your prepared to put in quite ridiculous amounts of study. And the studying doesnt stop as new languages are being developed all the time. If you do a degree in computer science you stand the best chance and get handed jobs much easier, but i didnt, i still made it, but people do hold it against me that i don't have a degree so i have to proove myself more than most people just to stay in my job. You will also need to learn business skills if you want to be a consultant developer (a degree in economics helps). they can get £500 GBP p/d, footballer money m8 IMO, its a very unstable line of work and although i can do it, its convincing people when i dont have a degree, often i'm showing people earning 3x my salary how to do thier job!. the most stable thing you can do in the IT industry is develop your own software to sell. But try it, its not easy finding ideas that people would want. And then they want it for free. then you can sell your program to big companies later and retire.

desktop and network admins earn about 2/3 the salary of developers. But theyre job is much much easier but longer hours.

Also, remember equal opportunities. to satisfy that a company is doing their part, they will hire a girl for the job if one shows up for the interview. doesnt matter if you answered all the questions correctly and was amazing. less girls in the industry means they have to have 1 if they have a certain amount of men. its life, it suxx. the law is sexist, not me

Saxon, m8, Get a degree or those incompetents will try to fire u and replace u by a blond or a brunete... its very dangerous if u dont have a degree... they can order u to buy sandwiches...

i really fnid it interesting and i am willing to put time in to learn... i havent always put my skill to good use, like at sch we made basic programs to arse up there server (e.g.basic keyloggers, brute force password crackers)

but i aint sure just yet, but its something i would like to do
