If you're asking about how to get Freelancer, well... I'm not sure how you folks can get an FL copy these days. Aside from that, most things are covered in that guide.

If you can't find a copy of the game due to it's... well, it's pretty old already, here's a link to the game itself (Freelancer) that you can use:

And here's the Crossfire mod:
After that it's pretty straight forward:
1) Install Freelancer
2) Install Mod Manager (located in the CF Mod zip)
3) Install Crossfire
4) Activate Crossfire in Mod Manager
5) Play
