Ok im on dial up, hence i cant get the mod atm. 
So, anyone have any suggestions on what to do to entertain myself? Come on, the CF community is a brainy lot! 
Bring on the ideas!
p.s unusual ideas are better :]

give it about 8 weeks and i will have a proper job... and then i can buy whatever the heck i like!!! woohoo
but till this patched version of the mod comes out im done for 
btw i founds an old mouse under a pile of rubbish :]
from what i heard the patch did not work (cant tell you more coz i dont have more information)
ok... well thats not good.
i see it this way, my options are:
a) Get a friend to dl it and burn it to CD.
b) Start an 18 hour download on my dial up.
c) Wait about 3 months till i can sort out broadband.
d) Hope something miraculously happens. 
im utterly confuddled now, so im gonna attempt to think.

if u download the mod, its 182mb. When i used Dial-up (shivers at the word), i downloaded a 231mb file overnight!
So try that, it should be alright unless Op has got the upgrade working in the mean time.
I could try the overnight download i guess, but i did a trial run of downloading the file yesterday and it estimated the time at 18 hrs. u should be able to buy the mod on eBay or summat.. lol
my friend could prob get me the dl but he only get 1 gb of downloads a month, so it'd be kinda selfish to ask him....
i have a question actually. if i use flashget (which i got last night) can i resume a download even if my computer has been disconnected, and resume later on in the day? is that possible?
Probably so; I had started DL off the LR link, and it reset, so I tried the SWAT link, and left for work. When I came home, the SWAT link had timed out or something, so I went back to LR, and the DL picked up where it left off!
ok then, ladies and gentlemen, im going to go for the 18 hour marathon download!! 
i am going to need a few posts or sumthing of encouragement and to keep me sane or else i might put my fist through the monitor, and then i really AM done for.
i estimate it will be done by about 12PM GMT, allowing for disconnects etc.
So, bring on the download!!! 
btw im not joking, i really will need some encouragement...

sounds like your download manager is working for you, but if you want to try a different one try Fresh download, I use it all the time

Ive hit the 50% mark, meaning that im at about 94MB. Ive got to switch the download off for a bit now, but i will be resuming it in 2 hours.

hmm... After almost 1Tb of non-official generic software downloaded, i've created a phrase. "Nothing is impossible, only takes time."
When i had dial-up (good times), i liked to push the connection and the taxes to the limit, and then, a little more. I have even downloaded an cd nowhere to be found on stores here, an 750mb image on a max of 5kb/s rate. It took 2 days straight, but i even said, "fuck broadband!" on the second it finished.
I can't lie, i still enjoy pushing my connection. Last big generic software i've downloaded (5.97Gb) took more than two days on a 110kb/s rate (bad torrent )
hey guys i am having trouble downloading the mod onto my Sinclair Spectrum 48k , i have connected a polystyrene cup and some good string to my phone connection but dont seem to be getting anywhere.
Maybe i should upgrade and go for that shit of a hot shovel dial up service i hear so many talk about . I hear download speeds of up to 1 byte per minute are within grasp and a 1 meg file can be yours before Christmas. Wot will those boffins think up next eh??
