Not Working

    ok im confused... i cant join the


    server even though i have 1.56 installed... when i look at the server the version is in red


    it says Crossfire 1.56 at the lower left corner but it says v1.0 at the lower right


    corner...any suggestions?


    oh ya when unzipping CF it gave me an error unzipping a


    thumb in the movie part?

    you have downloaded only the half mod


    so


    delete everything... and download the mod again with a download manager like flashget

    though its kinda weird but anyways its downloading 83,769KB at about 160KB/sec i hope this


    will work..but why does the reguler windows download manager only d/l it partially?

    UGH! the mod installed correctly but im still have


    the same proplem with the version... there server version is still in red and i cant click


    on it... just to make sure the name of the server is 24/7 crossfire right??

    the download is 85mb and not 83mb

    could be a problem with the download server thingamajig? because this seems a more common


    problem than it was before i had it myself when helping test this version and quite a few


    ppl are saying the same as Evilcaster that they are getting only partial downloads or


    unzipping probs

    hmm well i d/l an 83 MB file it


    seemed to install correctly because it works fine now ( i uninstalled everything freelancer,


    freelancer mod manager ect. and then reinstalled) i was just on the server a lil while ago..


    then it crashed

    I think everyone has had problems downloading the mod.




    It is impossible to know if the file you have downloaded is complete and


    uncorrupted. I have seen posts where people have downloaded the mod 6 times, and are still


    not sure if they have the correct version.


    The only test at the moment is - does the


    mod work. For my mind not an elegant solution.


    I have started to do some work on an


    alternative method of checking if the file you have is complete and uncorrupted.


    My


    initial idea is to use an MD5 hash posted in the download area, so people can quickly check


    if the file is OK. If there is a problem then I would suggest using PAR2 files to correct


    this.


    If no one has a better idea, or if no one objects, I can start work on the


    draft user guide, including screen shots, and links to the programs. I will post it to the


    support section for suggestions/improvements.


    Evilcaster Have you ever come across


    PAR2 files before. If you would like I can send you a PAR2 file, and a link to the software

    Can you host the PAR2 files, or do we effectivly download the mods from the


    LR site.


    If you dont host the files yourself, then posting the MD5 hash in the


    download area (with the link to the file) will enable people to check if they have a corrupt


    downlaod.


    They will just have to keep downloading it until they have an un-corrupted


    version.


    Ill wait till I know.

    MY CF 1.56 Downloading size was


    [SIZE=4]81[/SIZE] Mega and sevrel k's, ALTHOUGH i had NO preblems to get to the server, and


    no crashes!!!

    Maybe it's time to come back?

    My first 1.56 download was incomplete also. The


    second time, I activated my Netscape download manager so I could make sure that I didn't


    change browser tabs or do anything that might interfere until the dl was complete. That


    worked fine. I would suggest that if you have Netscape, activate the download manager. If


    not, just make sure you don't do anything else with your browser during the download


    process.

    hmm the file is 81,4 MB


    or 85.362.495 Bytes for me and LR says it should be 81,8 MB.
    Never had problems with the


    mod so I wont download again.
