NVidia Fast Sync

  • Hello,
today I was configuring CF under Win 10 x64 and discovered the following setting in newer NVidia drivers:
(as I later found out, it was introduced since driver version 368.22)

I tried this option and was very impressed - it gives almost zero mouse latency in game, far better than Adaptive V-Sync I used before.
However, when Fast Sync is selected, Crossfire crashes within 10-30 seconds after launch and the launcher says "[x]:Crossfire Crash Exit - CODE ffffffffc0000005 [E000000D3]".

I wonder if somebody else could try this setting with CF and see if it works.

P.S. Looks like Fast Sync support was added only for Maxwell and Pascal cards (Geforce GTX 750/750 Ti, 800M, 900 and 1000 series, Quadro M series).

  • maybe an incompatibility (there are way too many "i"s in this word) with the selected shader

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • Thanks for the suggestion, I made a few tests:

    Shader option Result
No Selection seems to work, crashes only when I exit the game
    ENB Standard crash
    ENB Oversaturat crash
ENB Bump Mapping + Motion Blur crash
    FXAA crash
    SMAA crash
Vanilla FL seems to work, crashes only when I exit the game
    SweetFX crash
    ReShade (Basic) crash
    ReShade (Motion Focus) crash
    ReShade (God Rays) crash
    ReShade (Full) crash

Looks like not much can be improved this way...
Tested on NVidia GTX 750 Ti, driver version 372.70.

  • there unfortunatly does not seem to be a vsync option in enb, sweetfx or reshade
it appears to be enabled by default and causes conflicts this way

  • But this doesn't explain why other V-sync options work fine; I still think there is something wrong with Fast Sync only.

Also, Fast Sync seems to be a "compromise" solution - it prevents tearing, but fast motions do not look very smooth (the picture is stuttering sometimes)
Think I don't want to use it anymore :)
