Fleet managers have asked for improvements to the fleet system of Star Trek Online. We have listened to you, and now - a future patch of Armada system will assist larger and smaller fleets in the organization and team spirit. How it works:
Fleets will soon be able to form huge armadas to share resources and to accelerate design times of fleet equipment. Armadas consist of a main fleet, the so-called Alpha-fleet, which can invite up to three others, subordinate fleets as beta fleets. This beta fleets can in turn invite up to three other fleets to subordinate gamma fleets, which the Armada gets a maximum size of 13 fleets.
All fleets in the Armada share the new Armada chat channel and can help out in fleet projects of all fleets in the Armada. Fleets will be able to control the supportable projects and materials for other fleets as well as the resources that your fleet members can donate at other fleet projects.
All fleets of Armada receive bonuses that depend on the overall level of all the fleets in the Armada. These bonuses include Dilithium discounts for fleet projects or bonuses for skill points. The rewards are based on the position of the fleets in the Armada. Alpha fleets get a higher bonus skill points as a beta and gamma fleets while gamma fleets get a higher Dilithium discount compared to alpha- and beta-fleets.
However, the Alpha fleet does not have an armada complete control over all the fleets in the Armada. The Alpha fleet may invite or dismiss only the beta fleets. Beta fleets, however, are the only ones who can invite or dismiss their three subordinate gamma fleets. If a beta fleet leaves the Armada or is dismissed, it also takes all its gamma-fleets and becomes itself the Alpha fleet of a new Armada, in which the former gamma fleets become beta fleets.
All fleets can leave their Armada at any time, however, the accession to Armada is a big commitment. Each fleet which joins an armada will get the bonuses of the Armada after a trial period. During this trial period, any fleet manager of a superior fleet may dismiss the new fleet out of the Armada without any additional waiting time. Should one of the fleet manager notice during the probationary period, the Armada is not suitable for his fleet, he can also leave the Armada without waiting.
The waiting time for leaving / Dismissed applies only to fleets with several fleet managers. During this waiting period the fleet does not receive bonuses of Armada. The waiting period can be skipped if all fleet manager agree for leaving or dismissal. Alternatively, fleet manager, who disagree being fired or dismissed, may cancel the waiting period at any time. Hopefully this will reduce abuse by fleet managers, without the consent of the other fleet manager to leave the Armada.
Improvements to the management
We have also added a few new features that should make it easier to manage a fleet. The status bar of the fleet menu now has two new options: accession date and time of the change of rank. This will let you recognuze more quickly how long someone has been in the fleet and when he / she was last promoted or demoted. There is also a new command /ExportGuildMemberList, with which you can create an Excel CSV file with all the latest information on the fleet and its members. We hope that these features will utilize your fleet managers and officers, especially those who run a larger fleet.
