  • Ok you need to make a couple of decisions.

    1. Cannons or Beams?
    2. Type of ship you will use for most combat

We need to know what your profession is: TAC. ENG or SCI? This is important, as each profession has it's bonuses and drawbacks.
You heard Op talking about Space Sets that you can obtain through the reputation system, which will cost you Dilithium , Fleet or Reputation marks. Some of us use a mix of the best components that match our ship and play style. But lets get your weapons straight first.

  • in first place you need to decide what weapon type you want to use.
Currently you have many different weapon types.... phasers, disruptors... etc.
That is called a "rainbow" build -> many colors but extremely ineffective.

Make a decision what kind of weapon you want to use in the future.
Plasma weapons are good for PVE missions.
Antiprotons, Polarons, Disruptors and Phaser are good allrounders.
Choose just one of these weapon types and put heavy dual cannons into the front slots while you put turrets into the rear slots (this is for escorts only).
IF you ever decide to switch to cruiser you better use beam arrays.

You are free to use a torpedo launcher.... but only ONE.
Torpedo launcher have shared cooldowns so using more than one is not effective.

Depending on your energy weapon choice your next choice would be about tactical consoles.
Dont use tactical consoles which boost "beam weapons" or "cannons".... use tactical consoles which boost your damage type (plasma, phaser, disruptor, etc.) ... these are much more effective.
So if you take phaser weapons make sure to use phaser relays and if you take plasma weapons then make sure to take plasma infusers... etc.

Even if you buy relative cheap white weapons and tactical consoles from a vendor or the exchange and focus on one weapon type you could increase your damage by a few hundred percent.
Later we can get even more effective builds when you have advanced.

  • OK my job is Tactical and the reason i have many different types is because that is all i have at the moment. the torpedo thing was good info i did not know i am trying to get all the same type of cannons. but i have so many things going on in the game right now it's all i can do to keep up. Ok i just got finished buying all Rare Polaron Dual Cannons for the fore weapons and all Rare Polaron turrets for the aft weapons. also all but 1 or 2 are Mk XI Also does iy help to have more than one prefire chamber or do those bonus's not stack? right now i have 4 of them. and i am wiped out on EC and dilithium

Edited once, last by omen2zippo: needed to add info to what i posted ().

  • In my experience, one torpedo fore & aft works ok, so you can do an attack as you turn away from the target for another pass, and to let your front shields heal a bit. The only torp that fires irrespective of orientation is the Bio-Neural torpedo, which I have seen launch forward from the rear mount, and has its own cooldown. Once you have your weapons loadout set, then you can look at getting your BOffs trained for the appropriate support skills (beam overload, firing pattern, etc.) for additional weapons efficiency.

  • yeah but lets face it you either face your target or you have turned away so only one of the both weapons can fire while the other is inactive

an escort build naturally would try to face the enemy due to the strong forward guns so the after torp launcher almost never would be used
it would be better to use a turret or cutting beam which both fire no matter where the ship is facing to.... instead of having a weapon which barely is used

a cutting beam does like a torp launcher cause kinetic damage... of course less dps but since it always fires without any interuption (instead just when in a 45° or 90° rear fire arc) in the end this beam would do ALOT more damage if used instead of an after torp launcher
