Special Task Force Missions

  • STF Missions are not the easiest ones... especially since they require that the entire team knows what to do and has to work together.
I have seen STF optional objectives failing pretty often... and I have even seen entire STFs failing just because players did not know what to do.

So lets sum up what these missions are about and how to do them.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • Can we stay behind the trigger point and concentrate fire on the tactical drones with long range attacks before going into the rooms and finish off the worker drones to save the officers on each section? Even if the tacs are out of range...it seems if all 5 concentrate fire on 1 at a time we could drop the tacs pretty fast and have a chance to save the officers

Edit, Is there a command that calls out a team target?

  • yes, fire must be focused
and it should be possible to get drones attention so they leave their rooms
then one by one can be taken out

  • I am confused about the trigger points....does that mean we can stay behind that point and as you say...lure them out, without the worker drones assimilating the officers? I guess time and practice will tell. I am wondering how much time it will take to lure them out...but it must be possible to do it that way and still get the officers saved in 15 mins. Then it seems that teaming the main platform in the final room before 3 guys go for the shield generators ( or whatever they are called). I didn't notice if the borg in the 4 corners fired on us before we shoot at them. If they don't get agro without being shot...then the 3 man team should really be able to take advantage of pushing/blasting them into the soup fairly quickly.

I'm thinking to make sure I have a sniper rifle for the long range and something else . I'm not sure yet which gun has good knockback and not too long a warm up time.

Edit., I did notice during a reading of the accolades that there are some that on STF's you need to complete 50-100 times and it counts normal and elite runs....maybe we should try on normal first to get a team to know the maps and locations of what to do, then we can do on elite for counting towards the ALL STF's + Optionals on ELite accolade. Just a thought.

  • yes if we stay behind everything is fine, the workers wont do anything.

well... that final room (I assume you mean where we wasted that much time)... was not the final room actually (I played that mission a few times before)
the borg in the corners only shoot when you get close so the key is to take out the ones in the middle of the room (as they are always close) and then go for the corners ... one by one
best weapons for that mission are in my eyes anti-borg dense beam weapons with knockback (coz that gives a damage bonus of +10 and gets us some time when they are thrown back an with some luck they fall into that soup.
alternative to the dense beam weapon i used my maco riffle with damage cone on short distance as the damage is damn good and i can hit multiple targets.... not to mention +15 damage against borg + no need to reconfig the weapon (at least most times)
for the next try ill borrow a tribble from my boffs to get an additional damage bonus and equip my char with 100 major shield charges, hypos and these energy bats which raise your energy weapon damage by 25% for 15 secs
ill just put that shit on a keybind and spam with it until i run out of those consumables

my main question would be if security escorts and drones etc. activate the triggers coz they for sure run into the rooms

  • this is a keybind for tray 7 (ground) -> key = q
ill put only the power cells + all skills which might be useful to tray 7
in ground combat i personally have problems to keep an eye on the skills while targeting drones (in space no prob but on ground i simply can not focus on everything)

shields + hypos go into slot 3+4 of tray 1
then i switched to the options and assigned new keys for slot 3+4 ("<" (the key next to shift) for hypos and "E" for the slot where i have the shield charges
so i have wasd for movement, q for powercells and everything else that i put into tray 7, E for shields and ">" for hypos (every very close together for fast reaction)
shared cooldown is 15 secs and normal cooldown is 30 secs so with other words you can cycle through the boosts once every 45 secs, thats good enough to stay alive and do some extra damage

  • today i played stf ground where you have to inject a virus into these 4 turrets before you can kill the target. We often used to jump over the quarders to get to each tower. But if you kill all borgs first then there are kinda light bridges that can be used to reach each tower. No need to jump anymore.

But i am not sure if it was elite or normal ground.

    signature.png

  • well, thx to husker i was able to finish this mission with its options on elite a few days ago

Im pretty convinced that killing all drones first is not the best idea as there are 2 timers running.
One for the nodes and one which lets the borg drones respawn. Problematic are the ones in the middle.
It is very likely that you have to kill the drones twice if you decide to kill them all before going for the nodes.
