So, I have nice shiny AMD HD 6850, which works with vanilla Freelancer as long as the unoffical 1.4 patch is installed. Crossfire on the other hand? Well, even with advanced shaders turned off:

What I've tried so far -
1) added my card into the database
2) uninstalled and reinstalled with various graphics options turned off/on
3) uncheck the dithering option, just increases the size of the bands
What I haven't tried yet -
1) hunting down the vanilla nebula files and replacing CF's ones
2) Doing the above if possible with the shader and lighting enhancements.
What I think is probably the problem, is that the newer architecture of my GPU can't deal the older DX9 calls being made properly so I end up with the mess in picture. Though since I don;t know a thing about the how this particular game engine works, I'm kind of stumbling in the dark.
Oh yeah, there's similar, but far less noticable banding in vanilla Freelancer.

Solution: check resolution settings, problem due to resolution being set @16bit, so make sure to select a resolution with "32" in it.
