Dear Planet Hunters,

Our recent appearance on the UK BBC Stargazing Live series generated a
great deal of attention. The community managed an incredible 1,084,760
light curve classifications in 48 hours, and gave us an amazing head
start on the new data from Kepler. You can continue to see the growing
classification count on the Planetometer:
Planet Hunters - we've done more 2 million
more since.

As well as the planet candidate that was mentioned on the show, and on
our blog, we have a whole set of other interesting objects to
follow-up on and investigate. We also added a large number of new

users to our community. A big welcome to all our new volunteers. It is
an amazing start to 2012 for Planet Hunters.

In addition to the candidate planets that we're chasing, volunteers on
talk have identified all sorts of stellar oddities, including
mysterious 'heartbeat stars' where two stars are having a dramatic
effect on each other as they swing past.

There are still lots more data to look at on
http://www.planethunters.org. Who knows how many more worlds we might
discover in the coming year..?
